she melted, her entire soul became nothing but a shell of itself as she looked at him. frozen in time, the candles licked at his skin and illuminated his eyes in ways even she, someone who spent most of her free time – and not free time – with him. they’d been at this for months now, witty banter and pressing down whatever this was. the only indication of time moving on without her was the feeling of his thumb brushing against her lip. breath caught in her chest and she nuzzled into his hand as it slipped effortlessly to her jaw.
kieren had always brought her reassurance. he was a friend, now her greatest dream come true. she wanted him more than she wanted anything else on the godforsaken planet they lived within. when he pressed his forehead against hers, ellie let her eyes flutter shut for a moment, enjoying the new closeness between them, and opened her eyes as he spoke. “ always, “ she whispered in return.
there was preparation. she could feel him teasing her. she could feel the anticipation knotting in her stomach. as he began to slip inside of her she let out a sharp gasp. suddenly, she was very aware of how long it’d been since someone had loved her. a hand went to his wrist, the other knotting in his hair as her moans began to escape again. this time, they were louder, turning her head to press them into his shoulder, attempting to press kissing between them. frantic hands reached for his waist, her chest filling with short breaths until he was inside. “ i’m yours… “ she whispered, still holding him close, “ always. “
He gazed down at her. She looked so small in his arms, so fragile and pure. At her gasp, Kieren’s entire body froze, his dark eyes widening. “Are you okay?” He asked, his voice tight with restraint. He was prepared to stop, no questions asked, if she chose. Then her hands found him once more, fingers weaving through his hair, making those sweet noises again, and Kieren forgot all else. He pressed a kiss to her temple, giving Ellie a moment to acclimate. He didn’t know much about her history, and even less about her love life, it had never really come up in serious manner. Kieren considered Ellie his best friend, but there were limits neither were willing to push, all of them revolving around their pasts. He didn’t need to know, it didn’t matter, nothing about the past mattered. They were together now.
‘I’m yours. Always.’ Ellie’s words swirled around him. She was his and he was hers. Nothing else mattered. He had found love at the end of the world. His Ellie. She made him weak. She made him strong. She made him feel something, everything, all at once. Gently, he pulled out nearly all the way, before sliding back in again. His head swam, completely overcome with a barrage of sensations. Feelings he hadn’t felt in years, feelings of love and of lust, of desire and need. Slowly, Kieren moved his hips, letting them establish a steady rhythm. A soft moan fell from his lips as he took Ellie in his arms, holding her to him. “I love you.” He whispered against the curve of her neck. He breathes the words across her skin, pushing away any thought that isn’t about her. Kieren felt like he was seeing the sky for the first time. Like everything was finally in place. Like something had been missing from his life, like he’d never known something had been missing until he stumbled upon her that night by the wall.
Thoughts of a life together, a future, filled Kieren’s mind. Ellie in his bed every night, in their bed, making love as they were now. Ellie on the sofa, bathed in the morning sun, doing something simple, like reading. Ellie, perched on the kitchen counter whilst Kieren cooks them dinner. Ellie in white, with flowers in her hair, and a ring on her finger. Ellie, who gave Kieren purpose. To give her the best life he possibly could. The thoughts had his heart bursting at the seams. Another moan escaped his parted lips as they pressed to her collarbone, louder than the one before. “Ellie...” His voice was shaky, as he blindly sought out her mouth, aching to kiss her again.
