“Of course you’ll be there. My wedding will be the biggest and possibly the best sight you’ll ever see.”
❛Well, that’s not true. I do own a mirror.❜
“Wow, you know me too well. Although I might just marry myself. I can commit to this beautiful beast.”
❛As long as I’m in attendance. I’d hate to miss such a celebration of self-love.❜
“Well technically, the sharks said to bring them the very best human and I picked you so really, it’s a compliment that I’m sacrificing you,” Parker teased. “And for the record, I’m pretty sure I settled the lion cracker debt with a lot of other things,”. Watching as Danielle dipped her head, wondering what could be in her mind right now (she was so much easier to read way back when), Parker’s hands found her waist to keep her still in his hold. A quizzical brow raising at her words, the boy hardly had a chance to reply when she leaned it. His breath was unknowingly held as he watched, only to catch her softly biting the skin of his shoulder. “You’re a terrible shark!” he laughed lightly, his thumbs brushing against her sides underwater. “That was the world’s tiniest bite and it didn’t scare me even one bit,”. Leaning in, Parker playfully bit Dani back on the opposite shoulder, his bite evidently larger than hers. “I think this means if we were sharks, I’d be the alpha one in our pack,” he chuckled, before a furrow of his brows came and he frowned just a little “Sorry –”, Parker’s eyes landed on the spot he ‘bit’ and he leaned in once more to kiss the spot with his lips ever so softly. He was always wanting to be gentle with Dani, even when they were just playing.
❛Oh. Well, if that’s what happened, it definitely changes things, doesn’t it? Though I’m fairly certain I can argue you at least still have a lemonade debt.❜ Laughter fell past her lips, his fingertips brushing across her side sending an involuntary shiver down her spine. Whether it was from Parker himself ( she’d deny it ) or the fact that she’d always been ticklish in those spots, she wasn’t sure, but the cool caress of the water hadn’t managed to help. With a small glance past his shoulder, she looked towards the beach and their group’s bonfire ways away. She breathed a sigh, grateful no one else was around, before returning her gaze to the boy before her. It was so clear he didn’t understand. He didn’t know just how toxic and mean she could be. Not now, not yet. But they’d be returning to the ship soon and the more settled in he got, the more he’d certainly realize just how different she was, leaving moments like this one to be put on some dusty shelf and left in the past with every other memory they once shared. So tonight, Dani would allow herself to be that carefree little girl within safety of childhood friends arms and away from the gaze of the people who knew her for who she was now. ❛ Maybe, my bark's just bigger than my bite,❜ she countered, her breath catching a bit in her throat at the tenderness of his kiss upon her shoulder, soothing his 'bite' like he had so many times before. Her fingers drew lightly into her palm along his shoulder blades, teeth scraping lightly over her lip. ❛Don't worry I can take it,❜ she told him, cupping some water in her hand before pouring it over his head with a relaxed smile.
❛Oh nothing. Just a little joke.❜

“Look!! I got a new dress!”
❛How darling. You’ll have to wear it whenever we have our virgin sacrifice.❜

Kai: why the biting sarcasm??????
Kai: sweetie :-)
Dani: why not?

He couldn’t quite figure her out. Here she was, the girl he used to know down to a tee – what scared her, what made her smile, what foods she liked, to what spot to tickle to make her laugh. The colour in her eyes and the way she looked at him now brought up all those familiar thoughts and feelings, happy ones that he’d never give up. But all at the same time, Danielle seemed utterly different. She was more grown up, and distant despite him being likely the only one who knew such things about her. Nonetheless, he held on to her hands, making sure she would be safe nor get too far. “Well I did promise them I’d bring them a tribute – it was the only way they’d promised to let me go. Sacrifices have to be made, sorry,”. Going far enough that they could only just touch the sand beneath, Parker guided her hands to his shoulders and set them there for stability. “Maybe we could fight ‘em off if we teamed up? It’d be a good story to tell – me and you going head to head against a real shark,”.
For years, Dani had wondered about Parker. Idle thoughts about how he was, where was, and if he’d ever thought of her like she had him, keeping her up and yet providing her some solace on the many nights yelling and the sounds of slamming doors echoed through her house. But now that he was here and in front of her...? She wasn’t quite sure how to feel. Conflicted mostly, maybe even scared deep down. After all, she was so far from the girl he had once known her to be and most days he was only an all too glaring reminder of that fact. ❛And you chose to sacrifice me? I’m hurt. After all the silly lion crackers I used to set aside for you when we were kids, this is how you repay me?❜ Though, his feet nearly touched the sand beneath them, Danielle was at least a few inches shorter and needed to make use of her legs to keep herself afloat. So she was plenty thankful when he allowed her to use his shoulders for extra support. Letting her head dip back in the water for a moment she looked back to him with a hum. ❛The idea’s all too tempting, but I’m afraid, I might actually be the only shark you need worry about,❜ she told him, her eyes flickering with mischievousness as she brought her teeth right down to his shoulder, gently grazing his skin with a playful ‘bite’.
“Ouch.” He pouted before walking towards the door. He then turned with a running start as he jumped onto her. “Come on, cutie! Let’s go to the beach!”
She rolled to the middle of her bed with her blankets, making a human cocoon of herself as she let out a lazy, and all too thankful sigh because he was retreating. However, any hopes to get back to sleep were cast aside as soon as the lothario had jumped on top of her, her small shriek being muffled by her pillow. ❛I hate you so much,❜ she told him with a sleepy glare and pout, trying to wriggle him off of her.
Where did you get those big eyes? My mother. And where did you get those lips? My mother. And the loneliness? My mother. And that broken heart? My mother. And the absence, where did you get that? My father.
