As I'm sure y'all have noticed, my activity on this blog is goddamn awful. Obviously I still love Gaius as a character and I don't think I'd ever stop writing him completely because I'm just that attached, but my muse has been low recently. So, with that in mind, I've been thinking about moving him over to my multi, @benzyblessed. If I did move him, would anyone follow him over there? I just don't wanna move him and then no one interact with him so! Lmk if you might, please and thank you <3

Fates Gaius/Frion isn't a brainwashed soldier of Nohr. He shows sympathy and is the kind to apologize before killing the enemy. In fact, he feels no real connection to the Nohrian people nor the royals except for Elise. The only reason he sides with Nohr is because that's where he ended up. Had he not become Elise's retainer, he would have left Nohr and it's people behind. If he had wandered into Hoshido, he would have sided with them instead. He stays for two reasons: to protect Elise and because she reminds him of Lissa. If anything happened to her, he would no longer have a purpose.

Once far enough away from the scene, Gaius finally (and reluctantly) released Chrom's hand. It had to look strange for a thief to pull a member of the royal family away from the public eye. If someone suspected him of doing anything awful, it would be best to avoid giving the skeptics any ideas. He would have preferred to keep holding the other's hand, but the paranoid half of him warned him of every possibility.

"I, er...I didn't really have anything to show you." Being honest seemed like the best choice. Or at least halfway honest. "You just seemed uncomfortable. I figured I'd pull you off so you didn't embarrass yourself or something, yeah?" Hoping the faint red on his cheeks wasn't already noticed, he forced himself to focus on everything but himself. Gods forbid he think about his feelings too much.

"She seemed annoying anyway. That's just what friends do, y'know? They help out and they're honest with their intentions. Like I just was! Uh..." Like he could talk about being honest. Still, with a snicker, he continued on by changing the topic. The further they got away from his emotions, the better. "Uh, m- maybe she was a secret assassin! I might've just saved your life, Blue. Who knows what could have happened had I not been there!"
