Therapy is exhausting and my sessions haven’t even started yet
Gentrification is State protected and enforced white supremacist violence.
honestly tell me again how/why gentrification is ever a good thing
this is disgusting you’re wiping out entire communities and perpetrating more and more anti-black violence
so people are talking about the ACLU, and as a resident of skokie, the chicago suburb that ACLU won the rights for the nazis to march in in ‘78, i think it’s important that people know that we are historically a jewish town. at its peak, the jewish population was 58% of the town, and i think it was about 40% when the nazis tried to march, maybe more. the town used to be home to an estimated 8,000 holocaust survivors. i grew up pretty connected to my culture despite being a nonreligious ethnic jew because there are so many synagogues, jewish day schools, a jewish deli, a jewish funeral home nearby– even though our jewish population has lowered, it is still obvious that this town has jewish roots
one of the main reasons for protesting the nazi march on skokie in 1978 were “a huge portion of the town’s population is jewish and thus directly effected by nazis” and “we have a huge population of holocaust survivors here who shouldn’t have to go through the nazis marching through their town”
that’s the town that the ACLU fought for nazis to be able to march in. leaving out the town’s jewish roots when talking about the ACLU defending nazis isn’t right, because it’s important info
here’s a good, short piece on it if anyone’s interested in learning more
someone: wow i can’t believe kesha’s actually good now!
me, externally: haha, yeah, her new stuff is incredible
me, internally: her stuff has ALWAYS been incredible. just because her old stuff was more party and dance music and used autotune and was marketed towards teenage girls doesn’t change the fact that her lyrics have always been clever, heartwarming, and just plain fun. even if her old music wasn’t personally your cup of tea, you can’t pretend that she hasn’t always been a talented musician with a great voice – y’all talk like she didn’t release stripped-down versions of her old music with no autotune years ago, PROVING her voice is amazing. animal, cannibal and warrior had so many bops on them, so many uplifting party songs, and from the very beginning, she has been subverting and satirizing the drunken party girl image her label built up for her. and let’s not even get into the fact that she has a genius level iq, and is an all-around great person and has always been outspoken about human rights, and is an inspiration for abuse survivors everywhere, and,
hope your pets stay healthy in 2017
I almost didn’t blog this and felt guilty
Not risking it
If you’ve had people leave or make you feel unloved because of how your illness affects you, know that there are people out there that will love you whether you’re sick or well. Between the pain and hurt, there are good people. You’ll find them or they’ll find you, but don’t give up hope.
do u ever just look at a straight couple and think…. that poor woman
That Gay Ass San Junipero episode really went and got its gay ass nominated for an Emmy anyway I would like to thank Sappho for making this possible.

transcript of the speech i gave at Vassar’s black baccalaureate service
Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen, honored guests, and the Vassar class of 2017. Just saying that aloud made me feel old. Class of 2017? Most of y'all were born after dark-skinned Aunt Viv left the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. That’s wild.
I want to first thank you for allowing me to be a part of such a special moment in your lives. I am honored, privileged, and a bit in disbelief that you asked me of all people to give this address. I try not to have feelings, and I’m going to do my best not to cry today, but no promises.
I’m here to stand in the gap between you and your parents and guardians and any other elders in your lives that you stopped listening to because you thought they were wack and out of touch. I remember being in your shoes not TOO long ago, and it is my fervent prayer that something that I say here today will help you avoid some of the mess I went through. To be honest I’m a little nervous, but I figured there was no way could this be worse than when Betsy DeVos went down to Bethune-Cookman, so let’s get started. As you transition to life after Vassar the changes will be both inevitable and swift, so I’d like to begin by giving you some well-intentioned advice and warning you about the continued process of becoming an adult.

I wonder how many strangers hate me bc of how someone else described me to them
