Ritsuka

A Taishō-era detective AU inspired by Detective Edmond.

In Japan, sometime between the 1910s and the 1920s, a suspicious death occurs at a girls' academy. A schoolgirl named Ritsuka Fujimaru, unable to accept the official explanation, turns to a black-clad detective for help.

This is a story of mystery, social pressure, trust, and a bond that cannot be neatly called "client and detective" — something closer, perhaps, to accomplices.

The Secret Corridor for Accomplices Alone

Within Chaldea, there was a deserted corridor, almost like a hidden passage.

Because so many Servants visited Ritsuka’s room, she spent time alone with the Count there, in that place where they could talk without being seen by anyone.

As he smoked, Ritsuka gently took the cigarette from him and kissed him.

‘…Not yet. This is nowhere near enough.’

Murmuring that, he kissed her deeply, as though dropping fire into the back of her throat.

She loved those bitter, burning kisses with him more than she could help.

Borrowed Books and a Message Card

When Ritsuka finished reading the book she had borrowed from the Count, she found a small piece of paper tucked inside.

“Ce personnage vous ressemble.”

A note written in flowing handwriting.

Ritsuka translated it, and without thinking, her face turned red.

The book was the story of someone who stood firm until the end, believing in another person.

It was a confession in a single line, too quiet to be put fully into words.

Coffee, and the Scent of Tobacco

One day, while Ritsuka was writing a report, the Count silently made her coffee.

The hand that offered her the cup carried the faint scent of the cigarettes he smoked.

Ritsuka suddenly narrowed her eyes and murmured,

‘…I like this smell.’

The Count gave no answer.

He only gazed at her profile, a faint smile touching his lips.

‘…The corner of your mouth is far too sweet.’

Saying this, the Count wiped away the café au lait from the corner of Ritsuka’s lips with his thumb.

Ritsuka looked a little startled, and the Count continued,

‘Had I not had a reason to wipe it away, I would have kissed you instead.’

I made some tiny double-sided acrylic parts!

They started as practice for drawing chibi characters, but I also really wanted goods of Ritsuka/Gudako in her Ordeal Call II uniform.

So I packed three of them into these little pieces: Monte Cristo, Ritsuka/Gudako, and Edmond as her shadow 💜🧡💚

The Night I Entrust to You the Name of a Nameless Feeling

A quiet night spent together.

They sat on the bed, saying nothing, simply leaning close.

It felt as though if either of them said anything, something might break, and so neither of them spoke.

Even so, once their eyes met, the distance between them naturally began to close.

But just before their lips could touch, the Count whispered.

‘Is this “Obsession”? “Affection”? Or perhaps… “Love”? I have no answer. But if you give it a name—then that will become the truth for me.’

‘…You are my accomplice. Let me share the pain you carry. Because even my sins—you try to bear them in silence too.’

As soon as she finished speaking, Ritsuka kissed him as though biting into him.

Their lips parted, and their short breaths mingled between them.

The Count pressed closer, almost nuzzling his forehead against hers, and dropped a kiss into Ritsuka’s hair.

‘If that is what you say… then I shall resist no longer. Your sins, your pain, your suffering. I shall hold all of you in this breast—and we shall fall together. As accomplices, to the very bottom of this hell.’

Ritsuka bumped her forehead lightly against his and laughed.

‘…Sometimes I think you’re an idiot. But even so… I love that about you.’

After exchanging only those words, silence wrapped around them once more.

But there was no longer any fear or wavering in that silence.

The bedsheets brushed together and gave a soft creak.

Once their shadows became one, it became a night for them alone.

Fingertips Touching Her Lashes

Ritsuka was breathing softly in her sleep.

It seemed she had fallen asleep halfway through writing a report.

The Count was about to place his cloak over her, but then he suddenly bent down.

With one finger, he gently brushed away a speck of dust caught on her lashes.

‘You are far too defenceless… That is what makes you so hopelessly—dear to me.’

He played with his toy for a bit, then decided that getting pets and butt pats was much more important 🐾
