Hey internet, it’s been a minute. Life’s been hectic, and watching wave after wave of unchecked suffering and destruction, made worse by our so called leaders, has made it hard to muster the energy to curate and post. At times, I’ve even felt guilty pulling attention away from things that feel bigger. But outlets like this are important. And lately, I’ve been thinking about how I can use my photography not just for art or escape, but also to promote change by documenting and sharing the experiences I see.
I’ve felt a growing pull to use my work as a tool to to show the world as it is, not just how we wish it looked. Sometimes that means facing uncomfortable truths about the planet, our communities, and ourselves. I know this blog is small, and I don’t pretend posting photos will change the world—but if even one person feels seen, more aware, or inspired to speak up, that’s more than enough.
This past weekend, I found myself in St. Augustine, Florida. And right there, in a place I’d least expect it, I walked into a sizable “Hands Off” protest. Seeing people show up and speak out, even in one of the most notorious red states, that was refreshing. And being lucky enough to be in that place and time, with my camera, gave me the nudge I needed to start sharing my experiences again.
I’ll still be posting fun stuff too, because I think aesthetics and joy matter, especially now. And I hope, little by little, to start weaving in more of the real stuff—hoping it opens space for thought, empathy, and maybe even change.
