oh, so that’s how he wanted to play. fine then. out came ludwig’s own baton (the actual baton, not the other one), a flash of quicksilver leaping into his hand as he braced himself to retaliate against the impact. bach was strong, stronger than he, by how many degrees even he did not know–but to HELL if he went down without standing up for what he believed.

HOLY FREE ART PROGRAMS BATMAN

I’ve had this list sitting around for a while (in case I ever want to try something new) and I thought I’d share it, because why the hell not, everybody loves free stuff. I’ve only used a couple, so for all I know these could be complete shit. BUT YOU NEVER KNOW, RIGHT?

*= available for both windows and mac os

GIMP * - Does a lot of the same stuff as Photoshop.

FireAlpaca * - Similar to Paint Tool Sai, so it’s a good alternative for Mac users.

Autodesk Sketchbook Copic Edition * - Simulates the look of copic markers.

MyPaint * - Basic stuff, nothing fancy.

Pinta * - Drawing program modeled after paint.NET.

Inkscape * - Vector/drawing program meant to be similar to Illustrator.

ArtRage * - Digital painting program; you can get the trimmed down version for free or buy the full version with more features.

Sumo Paint * - In-browser drawing app.

DAZ Studio * - Some sort of 3D model poser thing.

Pencil * - Software for animating.

SketchUp * - Tool for making 3D models. Looks handy for stuff like architectural drawings.

Blender * - Pretty popular 3D software.

escape motions * - Some browser apps, fun to fiddle with when you’re bored (the fluid fire simulation is pretty cool imo).

Twistedbrush (Pixarra) - Seems to be meant for replicating the look of traditional media.

Pixia/Phierha - A popular program in Japan, according to the website.

Krita - This was originally made for Linux and it looks like the developers haven’t ironed out all of the kinks in the Windows installer.

Artweaver - Another trimmed down free thing if you don’t want to buy the full program.

paint.NET - Pretty basic kit, probably good for simple stuff.

Project Dogwaffle - I’m not sure what this one is all about because I couldn’t stop laughing at the terrible website.

Speedy Painter - Lightweight digital painting program.

mtPaint - Originally made for pixel art; simple enough to run on older computers.

Chasys Draw IES - Supposed to be some sort of drawing+image editor thing.

PaintRibbon - Seems to be another plain old basic image editor.

DrawPlus - Looks like it’s made for graphic design and vector stuff.

SmoothDraw - I’m guessing this is a basic thing for people who don’t want to bother with complicated stuff.

everything was over — his ideal world shattered due to foolish dreams of another; that was hard to take, after four months, he’d finally recovered enough to come back to otowakan ( finally, he recovered enough to see the others again — ), just for a while; he still had much to do at arkhe. ah, yes, it had all been fine at first, although he felt ( he felt so goddamn much, everything was over & he’d never been more frightened in his life ) everything falling apart all over again not too long after she’d asked how he’d been. kanae was strict, but not unkind & while he was still unaccustomed to touch ( kind touch ), he leaned into her embrace when he felt her arms around him. ‘ it isn’t over, ’ she began, fingers running through his hair, ‘ there’s still music in the world. you see, music is already the universal language — ’ here, he let out what sounded like a broken laugh, but she took it as a step forward. ‘ you know, i wouldn’t be able to understand you or motes or beethes if you spoke to me in your native tongue, what you had in your first lives, ’ that was true, he knew that. kanae spoke japanese & that was it. if any of the classicaloids spoke in their native tongues, she wouldn’t understand — ‘ but, when i hear your music, i know what you’re trying to communicate. ’ 

‘ beethes’ passion is always there, i know when motes is having fun. lizst’s love shines through when she plays, i know when chopin is frightened & i know when schuu feels neglected. ’ he’d never thought of it that way, the realisation calming his despair — well, it helped. ‘ i know when tchaiko is pining away… bada has more than one composition, i might not know the titles of her songs, but i know what she feels when i hear them. ’ she pulled away for a moment, kind gaze fixed upon the man who had been arkhe’s god, their perfect instrument, the one who had built something that he thought would help the world. perhaps the oktova would’ve helped, but as far as she could tell, it would’ve been a bit redundant. ‘ then… then there’s you. you with your thousand compositions that could show a person the entire human emotional spectrum. i know what you feel more than you think; your dream isn’t over, it’s been here all along. i think… i think arkhe blinded you to that & i’m so sorry… i’m so sorry they did that to you, ’
