Speaking of the SP color edition's use of color, i found myself looking at the differences for the prologue in "Gets it Together." cus the b&w versions do have a colored prologue (fun fact, when i first got my copy, i thought i somehow accidentally grabbed a color edition! haha)
To give credit to who worked on the colors, the coloring for the b&w pages was made by Steve Buccellato, and the official color edition was all done by Nathan Fairbairn
For starters, the backgrounds in the b&w version are a lot more photographic-looking to me (if thats a good way to describe it)
i know the color edition's page is yellow for a reason but i just dont like it as much lol rip
I do like ramona's hair color inthe color edition more, its a much more vibrant blue
Speaking of hair, Julie used to have lighter brown hair, and Stephen and Neil are ginger here!
I kinda like Ginger Neil ngl. I mean yeah, Neil with brown hair looks better, but I like that he's ginger because it reminds me of how Knives Chau said she only dated him cus he looked like Scott Pilgrim. doesnt work as well when Neil has brown hair tbh. cus now the only similarity is that he n scott r white guys w/ that early 2000s hair. Also I prefer the grey shirt than the red and yellow shirt, smth about it clashes with his design to me.
actually i like it when all of Sex Bob-Omb is ginger. Stephen Stills used to be ginger too. I think all of them being ginger is funny. Its like a concentration of ginger people in one spot.
It's also making me realize maybe thats why everyone is ginger in "VS the World: The Game"? that its bc its based off these color palettes from Vol. 4?
Also theyre all ginger in this print designed back in 2007, but im going off topic
Knives is tan here! I think these pages r the only times Knives has ever been tan cus the print i posted above and all future iterations of her dont show her as tan (also i love the cloud in the first picture wow that is a gorgeous cloud to me).
Now with this panel, i like the first one more because the light above ramona's head looks more like her head is glowing, and yknow thats reminiscent of the Glow she actually does have. the second one isnt as good to me. i would like it if the values were pushed more i suppose.
I guess I have been mostly praising the B&W version more rip, but I do wanna say the Color Edition does have good pages. And I do like that Scott and Ramona's hair are brighter in the color edition.
Like this page, I like how more purple the color edition sunset is. I dont like how yellow it is in the other one and how bright Ramona and Scott are even tho its supposed to be sunset
Idk, theres no conclusion for me to make here. Im just playing spot the difference lol. theres good in both editions i think
