OLAFSAYSHI: Graduation Day. 🎓 Looking back at the semester with a happy and sad heart! Swynlake has been the home away from home I never knew that I needed. I've learned so much here. Can you believe it's been four years? If each year represents a season, then it's time to begin again.
Next stop, Fremover. No goodbyes from me, only see you later!

Another enormous sigh of relief. Anna had really liked having the room to herself after Ashleigh left, but that was mainly because her last roommate... had been Ashleigh. She could see herself sharing a space with Olaf— sure, maybe they'd have to work some things out, adjust to one another's lifestyles, but at the end of the day, Anna felt like she knew Olaf. It wouldn't be like living with Ashleigh at all.
"Yes! Yes, yes, yes!" Anna squealed, attracting some attention from passing students. She mouthed an apology. "Um, okay, you handle the visa thing, and I'll get right on looking at flats for us. We could always, like, sublet in the beginning, I'm sure there are uni students who will be clearing out for the summer or something like that... ah, it's happening so soon!"
She did an excited little shimmy even though nobody was around to see it. Anna couldn't help it. She had to do a happy dance. "We'll figure it out. Whatever happens, we've got jobs, and we've got each other, and the rest will come together. We've got this."
Anna had butterflies in her stomach now, and half of it was the nerves and uncertainty of this huge life change— but half of it was excitement. She held onto the latter. Hopefully it could get her through the harder parts.
Like... telling everyone else.
Something to worry about later. For now, Anna just wanted to revel in this a little bit.

Before, the list had seemed endless. Olaf managed not to get too stressed because he was focusing on each individual step, pushing off any panic episodes for, haha, later!
But after one phone call, all of that changed. Now Olaf didn't have to figure out everything alone. He could have-- but he didn't have to. He had a friend. He had a teammate. He had Anna!
Olaf sighed in relief and then laughed right after, not because anything was funny, but because he really was excited and everything was starting to click into place, like this was always how it was supposed to be.
"You're right! We do got this. Thanks so much for taking point on the flat-- ohhh, let's have lunch tomorrow and we can talk more about it! Figure out the kinds of stuff we're taking and what we'll need to buy!"

Anna laughed in delight. What were the odds? There was Olaf at the beginning of her time at uni, and here he was again at the end— and beyond. Turning down Town Hall, accepting Fremover, it was a leap. She'd be leaving behind all these amazing people she'd met in Swynlake and living in a city that somehow still felt new to her despite it being her hometown. But now she didn't have to do it alone.
"We do! Oh, thank god, this is such a relief— I mean, obviously I already know some people from spring break, but it will be so nice to have you there with me." Anna leaned against the table, letting out a breath and smiling. It was all coming together. Maybe not the way she originally expected, but it was so much better.
Then she had another thought. "Wait, Olaf!" She almost jumped right into asking, and then she thought better of it. She didn't want to put Olaf in an awkward position, if he already had plans...
Her tone became slightly more subdued, uncertain. "Have you, um, found a place to live or anything yet? Or a roommate? I mean, I know you were looking at a couple of different places..."
@olaf-likeswarmhugs
Olaf had been about one second from asking this same thing.
His mouth broke into a grin as he heard the unsaid thing in Anna's question. It wasn't the right question, not the one she wanted to ask, but of course she was shy. He understood why-- because maybe he had already jumped at a flat, huh? It was probably the most important thing to square away as quickly as possible or it would make the whole process more complicated.
But really, Olaf hadn't done more than just look at a few locations that Anna had sent his way. It had been so important that Olaf had been intimidated, especially because he wasn't sure how to go about getting a roommate in the first place.
Secretly, he'd wanted this exact thing to happen.
And now it had!
"Oh, I haven't decided anything yet!" Olaf answered. "Really, I've been so busy just with the visa-- but we should room together!"
Maybe he should have phrased it as a question, but Olaf was just too excited.
"Don't you think so? That would be fun!"

Olaf's list for post-graduation life was coming together!
He hadn't found a place to live, which was still stressing him out (!) but he'd started the Visa process with Fremover and had his flights booked! He'd gotten a jump on packing too, taking down many of his posters and things from the dorm room walls. He'd started to sort out the things he'd take and what he'd leave behind. It was so odd, really, going through the things he'd acquired over the past four years in Swynlake. Who knew he had so many things?! Gosh, Whosits and From Farm to Table were about to get boxes and boxes of stuff.
He was actually sorting through his desk when his phone rang. "Oh shoot," Olaf said, rummaging around his mess and finding the phone almost lost underneath some papers.
"Oh hey Anna--" he started but stopped as she spoke over him.
His jaw dropped.
For that first second, he almost couldn't believe it. He'd been so wrapped up in getting things together, he'd had to put Anna and his fear aside but--
Olaf jumped up. "Anna! Really! Really, you really got it?!"
@sommer-girl
It didn't feel real until Olaf said it back to her. And then Anna practically floated away.
"Yeah, I did! I- I really didn't think- I was really ready to, like- you were right, they probably just called people different days in the different departments, but they just called me now!" Anna rambled, her speech getting faster and louder as she got more excited.
She stood up from the desk she was sitting at in the library study room she'd commandeered and started pacing, all this energy with nowhere else to go. She wanted to jump up and down. She wanted to dance. She wanted to scream, but that was probably a bad idea in the library, even if she was in a study room.
"I have to leave right after graduation which is, like, so soon, but... aaah! This is happening, it's really happening!" Tears burst from her eyes— happy tears this time.
@olaf-likeswarmhugs
It was happening! It was all happening and it was happening super fast!
Olaf's head reeled. He had just started to think maybe Anna wasn't going to come, and maybe that was okay. Icicles, was this how it always was in the human world? Did things really change this fast?
Either way, he knew that he was, definitely, 100% happy.
"It's happening!" Olaf echoed her again and then laughed brightly. "Oh my winter, I knew it. I really did know it. You deserve this so much Anna. You're going to be so good in this position! And oh! We get to work together!"

Anna stared at her phone, trembling. Had that really just happened?
For the past two days, she'd spent a lot of her time trying to make peace with not getting the job. Trying to be happy for Olaf. Sending him recommendations for Arendelle restaurants and researching the neighborhoods he was looking at flats in. She liked to think she was doing a pretty good job of being supportive. But there had still been a lot of tears behind closed doors.
And now, suddenly, all of that had changed. Fremover had called. They had offered her the job, the one she wanted, in policy and advocacy. And without giving it a second thought, because the rest would just have to fall into place, Anna had accepted.
Her head was spinning. There was so much, suddenly, to figure out, that Anna didn't even properly know how to begin celebrating. But there was one person she had to tell right away.
"Olaf?" Anna said once he picked up. "...I got the job."

Anna hadn't meant to get her hopes up about Fremover to begin with. She'd known that she'd taken a gamble by turning down the Town Hall job, and how cocky did a person have to be, anyway, to assume they would get offered two jobs? She should have just taken the job at Town Hall, even if it wasn't perfect.
Ugh, but that was a depressing thought. Every time she thought about calling them up and asking if it was too late to change her mind, she was filled with a sense of complete and utter dread. Not just because it was an embarrassing conversation to have. But also because the thought of working under Skip in that tiny windowless office, entering data from forms and calling people about their court appearances, it just sounded like the last thing she'd ever want to do.
Plenty of people graduated without jobs, Anna reminded herself. She could keep working at Ice Queen. She could keep applying. She would figure it out. It was going to be fine.
But God, there was a small part of her that wanted to believe Olaf. That wanted to believe her call just hadn't come yet.
"Yeah, maybe!" she said brightly. Olaf was trying to make her feel better, and Anna wanted to let him, because she knew it was important to him. That was why he was going to be so good at this job. "But really, don't worry about me. You've got, like, all these preparations, it's really exciting. You have to send me the flats you're looking at, I can give you my expert opinion!"
She gripped the phone tightly, her knuckles turning white. She knew seeing those flats would just make her upset— but she had to be there for Olaf, after everything he had been there for her through. So she had to suck it up.
@olaf-likeswarmhugs
Yes. Maybe.
And Olaf decided to believe that too. As long as their was a chance, he'd cling to it-- not just for Anna, because he did think she'd be wonderful at Fremover, but for himself too. Who knows how things would turn out? Hadn't Olaf learned by now that you just had to be ready for whatever came?
And that meant he needed to get a move on himself. No lingering on all the uncertainties! Take things one step at a time. And a good first step was looking at flats.
Maybe sharing them with Anna would keep her spirits up too, right?
For now, Olaf chose to believe so. He chose to believe that Anna really would want to see them. After all, wasn't it the best thing, to celebrate these big life events with a friend?
"Oh, yes, I'm going to need it," Olaf said honestly (and because he figured maybe that would make Anna feel better.) "You'll make sure I'm not picking a place too far from the office or anything like that. Though, well, I don't mind a nice walk in the morning," Olaf continued... oh the excitement was returning. There his imagination went, visualizing the route he'd take to the offices. Soon, he'd have favourite restaurants and a brand new routine!
"Anyway, I'm going to start looking right away! I should um-- let you go, just in case-- they could still call today, you know! I don't want you to miss it."
