Yesterday I was able to make it down to the “Medina” or old part of Fez. With the help of a friend showing me around I was able to get a sense of the famous labyrinth that makes up the city and, as it was Friday, not too many people were out and about. In many ways it reminded me of my old neighborhood, the Albaicín in Granada, just much larger and a bit more chaotic which I enjoy. We happened upon a very kind ceramics seller tucked away in one of the back alleys from whom I imagine I’ll be picking up gifts for folks in the states. The Andalucían style architecture is apparent as you can see in the geometric patterns that frame the doors and are on the minarets of the mosques. Inside one of the doors pictured here you can see carpets hanging from the walls, this was a private residence that had its door open to the street. More to come.

Super stoked for this next week. It starts Monday @The Grand with Sweat Lodge and Ditch Witch, then continues into Tuesday with this show. Thursday will have us in San Antonio @ the Korova with Mondo Generator again, Today is the Day and Black Tusk. Saturday we will be back in Austin at the 29th St Ballroom for Austin Heavy Music Showcase that has 3 stages and loads of rad bands. Come get riffed.
