Why are people so against voter ID?

We literally use our license for everything. Alcohol, cigarettes, getting into clubs, buying stuff, driving, and you even need it to get a job!

Whether it’s a drivers license or a photo ID we use it for everything but people are against using it for voting? Why?

If you answer I’d like an actual answer besides that it makes it easier for illegal voting.

Probably because voting is such a fundamental right. And the hoops and fees you have to go through to get an ID (at least in Florida, where I live) are a barrier to people who don’t want/need ID otherwise that it is a barrier to vote and makes fees into defector poll tax. Those hoops disproportionately impact more marginalized populations, effectively disenfranchising them.

Also, honestly, the notion of mass voter fraud is a republican fever dream. No single Supervisor of Elections was complaining about it, yet every republican politician was/is. And, if I am not mistaken there are more prosecutions/convictions of voter fraud among individuals who cast multiple votes for Trump than for Clinton/Biden/Obama/etc.

That does make a bit of sense. I understand why it’s so hard to get an ID but I also don’t. (I live in Pa and it was not so hard that I remember. Then again, it’s been years since I’ve had to fill out everything for my License so it might have changed a lot.)

It’s a bullshit answer though. You have to have ID to work, cash a paycheck, and do many many other things. Then there’s the whole bit about “republican fever dream” 🤣 as if the dems haven’t cried voter fraud at every loss too. That’s an incredibly biased and misleading reply.
