Plans for recovery and what industries offer jobs.
Infometrics report that some industries, such as construction and some manufacturing will have 3-4% more people by 2025. The Government may fast-track resource consents for infrastructure projects. That means we'll see new jobs in areas such as roading, walking and cycling, rail, housing, sediment removal from silted rivers and estuaries, wetland construction, flood management and landfill erosion prevention.
The Government will apply the same expiry date extension of employer-assisted work visas made in July 2020 to the partners and dependants of the principal visa holder, where their visa would have expired from 17 August onward.
The good news for families of workers/work visa holders in New Zealand. Family visas will be extended automatically the same as main applicant visas. Please read directly from Immigration NZ below.
Updates from Immigration New Zealand!
As of 19 August 2020, INZ has aligned the visa extension for partners and dependants of the employer-assisted temporary work visa holders.
This means that partners and dependants with a visa based on their relationship with the holder of an extended employer-assisted temporary work visa will have their visas extended too.
This extension applied if the holder of the employer-assisted temporary work visa was in New Zealand on 10 July 2020 and their visa was due to expire by 31 December 2020, and the partner or dependent child’s visa would have expired on or after 17 August 2020.
Partner or dependant visa categories include:
• partner of a worker visa work visa
• partner of a worker visa visitor visa
• dependent child student visa
• child of a worker visitor visa.
