So now your love for cats has forced you to come and read my blog post, let’s talk about the new cat cafe in Manchester… I LOVED it! I went to the training day which was held a few days before opening.
So if you’ve never heard of a cat cafe before and are slightly confused…
A cat café is a themed cafe whose attraction is cats that can be watched and played with. Patrons pay a cover fee, generally hourly, and thus cat cafés can be seen as a form of supervised indoor pet rental. Read more here.
I arrived on time, spoke to some really friendly and welcoming ladies at the reception desk. They went through some rules with me and explained the experience, then off I popped into the Cafe. I instantly felt welcomed and at ease considering I had come alone. The atmosphere was really warm and relaxed. There were around 6 cats dotted about, some were playing with the customers and others lay sleeping, you know… being cats.
This is Ygritte, the Norwegian forest cat,who has the softest fur I’ve ever felt!
The staff were super knowledgeable and helpful and answered a bunch of my questions. There was a big coffee shop like counter to order drinks, which looked very fancy and on par with all the big commercial coffee shops, there were lots of cakes and yummy looking cookies. They also had soya milk for a vegan option which is really cool and unexpected. I ordered a peppermint tea and it came in a very fancy tea pot.
I noticed the cats have a cat flap entrance to a private room and can come/go as they please which made me really happy. The whole cats being forced into a room to entertain people makes me feel uneasy and it seems a bit zoo/circus like so the fact they have free rain to go wherever they like is so cool!
This is Aslan, a ginger Maine Coon and one of the most beautiful cats I’ve ever seen.
I have a real soft spot for ginger cats and I instantly fell in love and spent most of my time at the cafe with Aslan.
The cats all seemed super relaxed and chilled out, with not a care in the world. My cat is quite timid and doesn’t like loud noises/children (I have 5 nieces/nephews) so I know the signs of an anxious cat.
This is Joel, he was very cool and was most definitely thinking “yeah I know…I’m cute…big deal whatevs”
There’s only one thing I can think of that would have made the experience better… more cats. However, that is contradicting what I just mentioned about the cats being able to come/go as they please so I can’t really complain. Also, I imagine the more cats, the more hectic it would get, making the vibe not as chilled and relaxed.
This is Keira, she was without a doubt the most mischievous of the bunch.

Overall I really loved the experience, I would definitely pay to go in the future. I recommend to any cat lover out there. Perfect for people who want to do something a bit different than popping into the local Costa. I just wish I’d applied for a job!
