Terzo emeritus did not disappear, he’s still there: in the gaps of silence—once filled by his laughter. He exists in the moment the sun casts shadows over their home. People don’t just disappear, they leave behind little pieces of thier lives, in the stained coffee cups, in the dark corners of the room, as the cars speed by. he leaves thier home with his wrinkled sheets and his torn clothes, he leave him with his writings and lists, he leave him with the books he poured over and marked with tears and ink. he left him with the essence of what he is, what he was, and what he could’ve been. But he didn’t disappear.
