first time trying to write lmk how it is 1-10
while you and your friend and roommate nora are talking after you get back from patrol, she tells you they added a small record store in the WLF next to the gym. its more like a record and cd library rather than a full on record store, but still it catches your attention.
it's too tempting not to go in, so by nature you look through the small selection of records and cds found on patrol, some damaged but still worth it to be able to listen to more music.
very few people still had walkmans and fortunately you managed to find one years ago and it's been kept in good condition since. you've only ever had luck two times with finding good cds that aren't given to you by your mom before she died.
about a year ago you came across a house while you were hididng from fireflies. the house must have been previously owned by a music fanatic because they had about 60 cds and a crap ton of posters.
the other time you found cds was by the luck of the road you decided to turn on, there was a couple runners but there was also a record store that had artists like pierce the veil, panic! at the disco, elliott smith, jeff buckley, fall out boy and radiohead. you've managed to total around 15 cds over the years since you found your walkman.
when they opened the record store you were way more excited than anyone else you know, you've looked through it about 8 times already since nora told you that it opened.
they actually have a couple good cds, mostly country or top 50s from 1970 that don't really interest you, but they have this artist called paramore whos art really interests you so you pick it up.
you borrowed the cd “RIOT” by paramore and once you get to your room you place it in the walkman, put on your headphones and look through the mini flipbook. some of the songs are a little hard to listen to because of scratches but there's this song called “let the flames begin” that really interests you and you repeat it while you sleep after the long patrol.
the next day while you're walking to the store as your passing the gym you see abby who your friend manny is always with. he talks about her sometimes and talks about how shes like a sister to him.
she's lifting weights, you admire her a lot for going to the gym everyday and keeping her hygiene up at the same time, especially with the amount of people who rarely shower, luckily both of you aren't one of those people.
she really got lucky with genetics, she's beautiful and everything about her is perfect. you sit with her and manny sometimes when you’re in the cafeteria at the same time, you've also been on patrol with her before many times.
thoughts of how pretty she is floods your mind and you almost forget where you're going, thankfully the gym is close to the record store so you remember as you see the store and you walk in.
they have around the same amount of cds as yesterday but there's a few changes. you see a couple new cds one of them is by sleeping with sirens who you've never heard of before so you give it a listen.
you hear the door open and it startles you since not many people come in, especially since its actually the smallest store in the WLF. and you look up to see abby.
she looks around and smiles at you and you can't help but blush a little and adjust your ponytail, she walks over to the headphones for sale near the cds and picks some up.
you keep looking at the cds so you dont seem rude from your staring, and she puts down the headphones to see the cds next to you, flipping through them then turning to look over at you.
“hey, have you listened to them?” she said pointing at the sleeping with sirens cd in your hand and resting her back against the wall. your stomach flutters a little as you reply “no, i thought it looked cool and i want to expand my music taste."
she sighs a little, but in a friendly manner. “i was wondering how they sound since i've seen posters with them before and i thought their name was a little funny, sounds cool though.” she smiles as her arms bounce off the wall and she starts looking at the medium collection of cds.
you’re too anxious to say anything else, so you look at her and giggle at her previous comment on the band. “i also have a couple cds if you want i can show you sometime?” she says a little too fast that you notice her being shy about it.
you unconsciously fiddle with your hands and you feel the sweat keeping them warm “yeah sure! i collect cds well if you ever want to come over and listen to music?” you say while using your hair to hide the fact that your cheeks are turning a rosey pink.
she looks at you and smiles “how about tomorrow?” she asks and in shock you nod in return as you continue to look through the cds and you don't even notice her walk away till she knocks over the poster bin as she awkwardly waves and leaves.
