âAnd memories fall As the fire is getting cold.â
skylarparrish:
âOh, well. No? My parents are both older than you. I think. Unless youâre aging _super _well,â she rushed to spare him from his rambling. Not that she was any better, especially in social situations. Most of her friends came from larping and roleplaying. âPro tip though, talking like that may make it seem like youâre twenty years older than you are. Although, you didnât call me a hippie or a mod, so youâre not stuck in the past generations.â Apparently when she started, she couldnât stop. Her cheeks turned a shade darker once she realised what she was doing. âHow about we start with, hello. Iâm Skylar.âÂ
ââI think that is actually a good idea, so hello to you to  Iâm Oliver. Skylar, thatâs not a name your that hear often but I actually recently had a new patient name Skyler. I probably shouldnât have said that you might know him and thereâs this thing called doctor patient confidentiality. Iâm a psychologist and unfortunately there is still a stigma on having mental health problems. Itâs like people are still afraid of anyone whoâs not âânormalââ. And whatâs âânormalââ, honestly give me one of my patients over these stuck up ass jerks any day.  Itâs just  that sadly enough I often see patients getting rejected by there families. And I just canât stand that, in my opinion they are the crazy ones.ââ Oliver took a deep breath and realized he was probably only bothering this girl. ââIâm sorry,  you probably came here to eat or drink something in peace. And not to listen to some crazy guy rambling on about things you probably donât  even care about.ââÂ

âYe were givinâ yer coffee a disappointed look.â It was good to see that his decision to slip in and sit down with him was being well received. âThis place had the best coffee. I always get coffee âfore goinâ tâthe farmerâs market.â
ââThe farmers market, thatâs actually a pretty good ideaââ. Last time Oliver checked his fridge was pretty empty, so he could use some fresh products. He took a sip from his coffee and wondered where this guy was from because he was pretty heard an familiar accent. ââIâm sorry to ask but you didnât grew up in the States did you?ââ
skylarparrish:
The cafe seemed to be over flowing with people at lunch time. Her lunch break from the veterinary clinic wasnât super long so she couldnât be her regular nervous self. There was no room to sit by herself so she would have to share a table. The mass of oldies evacuating the place was worrying and she quickly slipped into the closest seat, not noticing that it was already occupied. It was either nerves or anxiety that made her stay once she had noticed him. Clearing her throat, she spoke up. âIs it⌠Iâm sorry, is it okay if I sit here? Itâs so busy and I only have a little while for lunch.âÂ
ââOh hey there, of course I don't mind and I would be a pretty terrible person if I made you stand up. I like to think that I'm at least a little more decent then that. And I don't know if you noticed but I just spent my afternoon talking to old people. Well you probably think that I'm an old person right?  I mean I am an old person in comparison to you , but Iâm not great grandfather oldââ Oliver realized he was rambling.  ââI'm sorry, I just wanted to say after spending my afternoon with the elderly it's refreshing  to see a young face.ââ  Oliver sighed, he wasnât the best at talking, listing though that was his strength and the reason why he became a psychologist.
Heâd made a promise to Cara to at least try and be outgoing. He had been, years ago, but now he was more reserved, even though he didnât exactly enjoy spending most of his free time alone or driving his little sister mad. That was why he took a seat across from the man, coffee cup in hand and a smile on his face. âItâs too niceâa day fer ye tâlook lonely. Mind if I join ya?â
ââNo, no of course not I donât mind the company at all. And do I really look that lonely, is it like written on my face? Because I thought I was a little bit better at hiding it.ââHe said laughing. Oliver was actually really surprised by this young man  because usually nobody notices him, just another middle aged man sitting alone at in a cafe drinking coffee. ââSo what brings you here on a Sunday afternoon?ââÂ
Oliver took a sip from his coffee and tried to understand why he was here, drinking coffee with elderly people. But then he remembered it was because his dad asked him to. When his father was still alive they always met on Sundays, they took a walk or went out for coffee. And his father wanted other people to have that too. But sitting at a cafe with a group of old women wasnât exactly how Oliver wanted to spent his Sunday. Luckily they were just leaving but to be honest that wasnât much better, because now he was alone.
