MASON & OLIVIA;
          The blonde turned, a reaction to the question that he hadnât determined was directed at him until after, his head glancing around for others to alas find none. The grocery parking lot was empty; a dead-zone, apparently, in the odd hours smack-dab in the middle dinner. He pinched his own keys in his hand, mustering a dumb âuhâ, in an initial response as he glanced towards the doors, âNo⌠I havenât,â He responded, eyes squinted under the rays of the warm Septemeber sun, a pressing current of empathy circulating through him, â⌠You wanna go ask inside if anyoneâs turned anything in?â He offered, suggesting towards the store with his hand that bore his own keys, figuring it was too hot to go deep-sea diving in a black-tar parking lot for a piece of metal, or at least heâd feel bad if she was to be stuck doing it, âââ I can look around out here while you do.â
        Olivia wasnât sure why she dragged someone else into this. Most people were in a hurry to get home, and the odd chance that someone actually saw her keys was pretty small, yet she figured she better at least ask once to kind of cover her basesâ now she could say that she had done that, if anything. âThatâs okay, I didnât think so,â she said, âI figured I would just ask to be sure,â she said, thinking out loud more than anything. âOh uh, I already asked inside. They took my number and everything, in case someone turned in a set of keys. Thank you so much though, for wanting to help, th-thatâs really nice of you.â She offered a genuine smile, her shoulders lightly pulled in a semi-shrug when she ran out of things to say or ways to either end the interaction or move it forward. For some reason, that had never been her forte when she wasnât at work. "Um, Iâmâ Iâm Olivia by the way.â It was all she could come up with, but it at least felt somewhat appropriate.
ISABEL & OLIVIA;
Isabel was glad when the other woman accepted, and then rather quickly took the seat next to her, face lit up brightly with smiles as if greeting an old friend. âOnly if youâre sure,â she responded. âI kind of figured it was the least I could do for someone willing to help me.â Moving to very casually fold her arms on the table top, she let a breath go slowly, but then perked up at the question. âYes, yes thatâs me,â she answered with a nod of her head, regarding the other woman for a moment. âYou come into the shop a lot, donât you?â
       âItâs no problem at all. Though I have to tell you, Iâm not great with confrontation, so if he does come over, I canât promise Iâll be very convincing,â Olivia admitted and crinkled her nose sheepishly. She was definitely the kind of person who (unfortunately) more often than not ran in the other direction when there was conflict or confrontation. She could stand her ground if she really focused her energy on doing it, but it was harrowing for her every time. Luckily, the guy seemed to hold off now that Isabel wasnât on her own anymore. âI though that was you. Itâs almost strange seeing you without an apron on,â she joked. âBut yeah, I do come in a lot. A lot a lot,â she confirmed, a rosy blush spreading on her cheeks.
SASKIA & OLIVIA;
Saskia turned as she heard a voice, and smiled at the woman. âOh,â she replied, her lips falling into a frown. âI havenât,â she added, her eyes now darting across the ground. Saskiaâs brows furrowed in concern as she saw the rip in the womanâs bag. âIâm sorry. I have a little sewing kit, if you want to to fix the tear,â she suggested, riffling through her purse. âOr I could give you a ride. My carâs only a couple of blocks away,â Saskia added, pulling a small box that held needles and thread out of her bag.Â
        âOr, you do?â She asked, surprised when the woman told her she carried around a sewing kit. Not because it was odd, but because Olivia shouldâve done the same a long time agoâ she was good at accidentally ripping a hole in her knee, or in her bags it seemed. âItâs okay though, Iâll fix it when I get home, but thank you so much.â She smiled warmly, genuinely grateful for the womanâs kindness. âIf youâre sure itâs no trouble, then I would love a ride. I should probably just walk, but if Iâm being honest... my feet are killing me.â
ADRIAN & OLIVIA;
           âââ Huh?â Adrian, mid-evening-run and head in the clouds, halted in his lightened jog to pluck the earphones from his ears, and pay the anxious-looking blonde an attention undivided when she started to unfold her harrow for him, âOh⌠Keys, you said?â He was panting, breath laboured in its lack there of, but an empathetic furrow writhed his perspiring brow, come looking into hopeful baby blues, and with it, came the search of cement below his hazel rings began, âI, uh⌠I canât say I have, Iâm sorry,â Even with his thrumming pulse and heated skin, he thought she looked familiar; a face he had seen often around town, even more often around the hospital, a place he spent a lot of his time at in the past year. âBut Iâve been there. Only it was a hole in a jacket they legged it out of,â The empath offered a diminutive smile, already pulling out his phone. Dexterous digits removed the headphone jack and stuffed the white wiring into his hoodie pocket, all so he could turn on the flash and help her look, â⌠You dropped them around here?â
        âYeah, they get claustrophobic in small spaces, which includes my pockets and any kind of purse I try to stuff them in,â Olivia said with a shy smile, her attempts to joke around always sort of restrained, like she didnât believe it to be funny herself. She laughed when he explained the ways his own keys had done the same however, her eyes curving genuinely in mirth. âDamn keys, right?â She had seen the male before, around town, and at the hospital too. She knew of him because everyone who spent time in North End knew about the success stories just as much as they knew about the opposites. He was an officer, and a good one from what sheâd heard, and he had a family too that he looked out for, a sister and a brother. He truly was the incarnation of kindness from where she was standing, the theory only strengthened when he offered to help her look without her even having to ask. âOh uh, yeah... Or, I donât know, I think so? To be honest, Iâm not really sure when they escaped.â She bit her bottom lip in something close to anxiety, but not entirely. She suppressed it well, breathed through her nose a couple of times before looking up at the tall man again. âThanks for helping though, but you really donât have toâ I'll just hoof it home if I donât find them.â
ADAM & OLIVIA;
                  Turning around to find the familiar face that went with the familiar voice, Adamâs brows furrowed lightly. âNo, unfortunately not,â he said, searching Oliviaâs face before his gaze dropped to the purse she held up, frayed stitching at the bottom that he wouldnât have noticed if it hadnât been pointed out apparently the culprit to her lack of keys. âOh shit, Iâm so sorry. Uh, Iâll help you look? Iâm sure theyâre here somewhere, right? And even if we donât find them today, Iâll drive you home, donât worry about it.â
       Seeing a friendly face in a âcrisisâ was always good, and especially when the friendly face belonged to Adam Sterling. Still to this day, though they were both all grown up, Olivia looked at him and remembered him as a one of the kind neighbourhood kids. âItâs okay, it happens more often than I care to admit,â she said and chuckled sheepishly. âThank you though Adam, that means a lot. Youâre probably better at finding them than me anywayâ they tend to hide from me.â
SIERRA & OLIVIA;
          Muttering beneath her breath, Sierra looked up as she made her way back to her car and heard the question, âKeys?â Lifting her own up, she flicked the boot unlocked and dropped off a box of files before leaning around the side to check she was okay. âHave you checked the sidewalk?â Sierra hadnât seen any on her short journey but then again, she hadnât been on the look out for any. âAh, fuckâ-â The brunette sighed and closed the trunk, âThat sucks. Lost property inside? Thereâs a place in reception they keep things that have been droppedâŚâ Sierra suggested, pausing to think. âLook, Iâve got fifteen minutes to spare. I can help look if you want? Can drop you somewhere if we donât find them, but Iâve got plans in an hour so canât be hanging around foreverâŚâ
       Olivia nodded lightly, âYeah, I checked, but they might still be around here somewhere. They have a very special talent when it comes to hiding from me. Or running away from me really...â She pulled her shoulders up sheepishly, frustrated with herself that she had managed to lose her keys yet again. âI checked inside, and they said no one handed any keys in... I might just have to give up the search, at least before it gets dark.â But then the brunette offered to help her look and drop her off if they didnât find them, and Olivia offered a kind smile. âThank you, thatâs really nice of you. I donât want to keep you too long though, but I wouldnât mind the lift?â
LUZ & OLIVIA;
âLost your keys again?â Luz teased with a soft grin on her lips as she approached her unlucky neighbor. It sucked hugely to lose anything, but especially a set of keys. She felt badly, but it hadnât been the first time she caught the other woman in this predicament; so naturally, she had to poke a little fun. âAre we gonna have to fasten them to your jacket with a safety pin like they do with school kids?â she quipped, eyeing Oliviaâs worn bag when she held it up for proof. âI didnât see them. Maybe you dropped them in the car and didnât noticeâI know a guy who can jimmy the lock for you if thatâs the case. He owes me a favor.â
       âWhen will I ever learn, right?â Olivia said in reply to Luzâs question, making it clear that she had indeed lost her keys again. She was trying hard not to make a habit out of it, but it seemed more and more like her keys just werenât a fan of hers. Laughing lightly at her suggestion, Olivia threw a hand in the air, âI mean, we might have to at this point, even though I get the feeling that they might still find a way to jump off and run away.â She sniggered a little at her own expense, her own bad luck obvious to her more than anyone. âActually, I remember locking my car with them, so they could probably be anywhere but in it by now. Maybe I should just give up for now.â
HELENA & OLIVIA;
     The thought of something sweet like cake made her realize she hasnât had an actual meal in a few hours, normally she did better on the long nights of getting things done and eating but it seems that sooner or later she was going to end up blowing away. Letting out a soft laugh and nodding her head, âA slice of cake would actually work for me. Can never say no to sweets, my one true kryptonite.âÂ
       âIâm the same way,â Olivia admitted sheepishly, a gentle smile falling in place on kind lips. âWhen it comes to cake, or most types of sweets, I forget how to say no.â Luckily, a lot of other people could relate, and it made the blonde happy to know that she could at least show her gratitude in a way she wouldâve liked herself. âDo you have any preferred places? I know a cute little cafe not long from hereâ their cake and pastry selection is amazing.â
I just need to figure out how to grow without compromising.
           âSorry, but uh... did you see a set of keys anywhere around here by any chance?â Olivia asked, teeth clamping down onto her bottom lip in a lock, equivalent to crossing her fingers for luck, as if it might affect the answer to her question. While she was an optimist by heart, there was no way of knowing where her keys had gone â she couldnât pinpoint the moment where she lost them, not even close. âMy bag,â she said and held it up, small, soft, tan leather with a stretch of stitching that had come undone at the bottom. âThere was a hole in it that I didnât see, but uh... my keys did and made a run for it. Canât get home now,â she added and pointed toward her car.
HELENA & OLIVIA;
     âI told you I knew how to fix a flat tire.â Helena chuckled as she wiped away the dirt from her hands. âYou know it should be required before they give you a licenses to drive. Know where the oil is at, whatâs under the hood, how to change out the flat to a donut, the fun stuff.â She leaned over to grab her iced coffee and took a drink, âBut back onto the subject, what were you saying?âÂ
         âAnd you were right. Which Iâm really happy about, by the way. Thank you,â Olivia said and smiled warmly, nothing but sincere gratitude in voice and features alike. âYou just saved my day.â She couldâve left the car of course and hoofed it home, but it wouldâve been a long walk, and after an 18 hour shift at the hospital without more than 29 minutes to sit, walking home wasnât really on the blondeâs list of desirable things to do, even if the weather was inviting enough for it. âOh, uh, I was just, um... I was just saying that I owe you one. I would get you a coffee if you didnât have one already, but how about...ââ Olivia looked around, spotting a small cafe. âWould you like a slice of cake to go with it?â
ISABEL & OLIVIA;
âHey, so can I buy you a drink in exchange for helping me avoid that guy over there?â As Isabel asked the question, she glanced back very cautiously, trying to indicate where the problem lay. Heâd been following her around the bar for the last twenty minutes or so and seeing as who sheâd been meeting had been waylayed, with no idea when theyâd be arriving, she was kind of stuck now â- with extremely unwanted attention. âHeâs, uh, a little full on⌠Iâd blame the drink, but Iâm not so sure anymore.â
         Lost in light reverie, Olivia looked up with a start, eyes finding the familiar woman first, the man she was trying to get away from next. âOh, ofâof course,â she replied quickly and pulled out the lone chair at her small table, patting it once to get Isabel to sit. She wasnât sure if that would be enough to get the guy off her back, but it was a start. âYou donât have to buy me a drink though, Iâm happy to help. Youâre... Isabel, right? From For Cupsake?â
AVA & OLIVIA;
          The couple â raw-lipped and pupils dilated â had gone from a make-out session that was way past the point of PG-13, to baby talk, to play fighting about who loved the other more, to real fighting about who was more stubborn, to angrily kissing this time, all in the span of five minutes; all in front of Ava and anyone nearby. PDA was one thing, but this⌠this walked the fine line of what was legal and what wasnât, whilst Ava walked one of being entertained and being sick. âYouâre a menace,â said the man, âYour âpennisâ is the menaceâ replied the woman, a feral purr, and a harsh kiss crushed their lips together once more. Thatâs when Ava lost itââ a sound, somewhere between a stifled laugh and a squeak, parted her lips. Tiny hands clambered up to cover her mouth before it disrupted, and once removed, she found a pair of eyes to connect with, lock with, and let lips curl into a coy, knowing smile shared. A message was passed: Yeah, she really just said âPennis the Menaceâ.
            It felt wrong to be close enough to overhear and see most of what was going on in the coupleâs own little bubble, Oliviaâs face flushed in light embarrassment and her eyes trained on the tall milkshake in front of her. Part of her couldnât help wonder what it must have been like to be so in love that behaving like that in public was unavoidable. It was sweet at first, kind of remarkable how they clearly only had eyes for each other, even when banter turned a little sharper. It was when the âdirtyâ talk suddenly appeared that even Olivia couldnât manage to keep her reaction entirely under wraps, her eyes widening and gaze shooting up to meet Avaâs. Her shift must have just started, or else Olivia wouldâve taken a seat at the counter instead, but in the aftermath of âPennis the Menaceâ, she decided a relocation wouldnât be out of the question, and grabbed her milkshake and hurried across the floor like an apologetic church mouse, taking a seat at the counter. âDid I really hear her rightâ did she say... that?â She leaned in and whispered, eyes wide in wonder.
I would mimic what I saw in Grease and Guys and Dolls in front of my momâs mirror and I would practice voices and songs. When you put me alone in a room, thatâs what I would do.
