Flins x female reader. Parents to be.
Topics of cravings and mood swings.
Time skips throughout the day.
Being a light sleeper had both its advantages and disadvantages. By living in a small secluded island populated by spirits, it wasnât very often that Flins was awakened by sudden disturbances of the living.
A disturbance would be unwanted conflict. Something that would unbalance the serenity that he and his beloved wife lived in.
As of now, Flins had his chest pressed to your back. He attentively listened to the cravings that transcended to your dreams that were whispered in uneven words past your lips.
Peppers, jelly, cheeseâŚ
His lips twitched upwards just the slightest bit, eyes closed as he softly inhaled the scent of your hair he found so comforting.
It had become a routine for him to prepare your bath just before bed time. You assured him several times that you were more than capable, but his words were always just so convincing.
He knew how much theyâd sooth you. A flicker of flame would light a gentle scented candle, placed beside the tub where you rested your eyes. Often times, heâd run his eyes over the lines of a book with the guidance of the candleâs flame, taking in the words that prepared him for parenthood.
How much life had changed - it was not something that his mind put too much thought into. Because in his mind, this is more than he ever dared to weave together in the many years heâs lived. Heâd choose living every second of the present than to sit idly in thought.
He truly did fall in love.
So he vowed to always be by your side, in sickness and in health, devoted to be your loving husband.
But along the thoughts full of adoration and love, there were some that heâd push away to the depths of his heart and mind.
The overwhelming sense of protection was one of them.
Heâd glance at folk a second longer when you would be nearby, determining if they were friend or foe.
Of course, they are almost always innocent traveling merchants who sought for rest in Nod Krai. Or towns people heâd seen once or thrice before, but he could not contain the alarming impulse of questioning just about anyone.
He tried, he really did try.
Yet, there were rumors of a golden gaze that bore past the foggiest of nights.
So there he was, holding dearly onto the one who had changed his life wholly.
Fingers softly grazed over you, his thoughts on how youâll become a mother and he a father. To the child that will be fae just as he is.
Oh, how over the moon he feels.
âMy love, I will travel to Nasha town now.â
It was now the following morning. The salty breeze, it was fresh to his fair skin. It felt as though the rising sun gently pushed the nightâs cool air away with a gentle blow, telling it to allow its rays to shine just for a couple of hours.
You turned to face him, settled over a soft patch of dewy grass in front of a gravestone. As of recently, you began to care for each site. Whether it be removing the collected grime and dust, or simply passing time with respectful silence or conversation.
Conversing with spirits wasnât comparable to conversing with humans. Words werenât actively exchanged.
Instead, youâd express your love for Kyryll. For their fellow Ratnick and Light keeper.
The spirits expressed sincere gratitude, Flins would feel it more and more each passing day.
âYouâre certain you do not wish to go to Nasha Town?â he asked, his golden eyes searching your expression.
His question was answered with the shake of your head. Guilt still gnawed you over the last time you had accompanied him - for slowing down over the aching feeling on your legs and feet.
You were quite upset over this actually. Traveling alongside him was a day you always looked forward to, but with each passing month after you found out you were expecting, it has become increasingly exhausting.
âIâm sure. Besides, I promised Iâd care for them todayâ you smiled warmly as you looked at the jagged stones in front of you.
Flins softly sighed, âvery well.â
He understood your reluctance. And it pained him to see how you held yourself back from routines youâd love to have. As much as he wanted you by his side, he did not want to trouble you nor jeopardize your health.
Flins kneeled beside you, his covered finger tips gently lifted your chin. He dove just enough so that his nose found its way to the crook of you neck. He drew out a tickled laugh and string of words from you. KyryllâŚ
His lips found their way upwards, where they softly pressed a loving kiss to your lips. He truly adored how simple it was to draw out such genuine reactions from you.
âI wonât be gone for too long. Please donât be too brash on yourselfâŚâ he referred to how youâd often push yourself for more. Flins knew very well that you always strived for the best, and he knew that youâve grown frustrated that with each passing day, you couldnât keep up as you once were able to.
His eyes lingered on you, looking for the assurance youâd always give him with just your eyes. But as he continued to hold his gaze, he fell into the reflection of himself.
Flins was completely intoxicated. No drink could compare to how drunk in love he felt for you. How very infatuated he was.
The thoughts heâd try to push away?
The second one was of his desires.
He could not fathom why he felt such ways. Truly how incredibly untame his thoughts would be at times.
His heart and mind would turn ablaze when heâd see the silhouette of your body under your billowing dress. How itâd hug your changing body just so delicately and perfectly had him question if he should stay home, at least a full day.
He closed his eyes, reprimanding his selfish thoughts. How utterly disgraceful, heâd remind himself. But he simply could not tame his thoughts. He sought for solutions to a crisis that his mind and body naturally sought for.
He did not seek your body for pleasure, it was more so a strange sense of honor he wanted to worship.
âIâll be back soonâ
Flins sighed with an unknown desperation.
Was it annoyance? Absolutely not.
Was it a desperation of your satisfaction he wanted to fulfill?
He considered your contentment to its highest regard. Whether it be your cravings, thoughts and feelings, your pleasures.
To others it may appear heâs a very attentive and loving husband. Now that is the truth, of course it is, but there has been several moments as of lately that youâve reminded him heâs his own too. That he too should be cared for.
I must care for you and our little one, always.
âIs something troubling you?â Laumaâs gentle voice broke past his thoughts.
âMy apologies, I must have been staring off. Iâm unsure how to satiate my belovedâs pregnancy cravingsâŚâ His golden eyes flickered past the many ingredients and tastes you had mumbled in your sleep.
Peppers, jelly, cheeseâŚ
Lauma brought a hand to her lips, a quiet and respectful laugh escaped her. She was one of the few that would regularly look after you. Sheâd often send letters and care packages. In fact, Lauma was the first to receive the wonderful news. Before Flins himself.
âPerhaps I could give lend you a hand? I can understand how troubling this might be, especially for a first time father.â She offered a sincere smile before glancing at the booth before the two of them.
Flins lips twitched agape behind his round collar, the reality pounced on him wonderfully. He turned to face her fully.
âI would really appreciate your guidance. Thank you, very much.â He brought a hand to his chest.
Flins carried several bags home. It was so unlike him, he was not the kind to be an extravagant shopper after all. Loafs of sweet bread poked out from the paper bag he held closest to his chest, its sweet aroma reminding him of his lack of appetite. He was curious how such combinations could be your cravings, but of course, these thoughts came from someone who didnât exactly eat.
Flins let out a sigh he did not know he was holding upon seeing the small island come into view. It was of relief and delight.
He wasted no time. Flins picked up his stride, the jingle of his lamp followed his quickened pace.
Just as he set the many bags over the table by the entrance, you poked your head out from the door.
âKyryll, youâre home!â
You circled your arms around his body, embracing him as if you hadnât seen him in forever.
Home, he was finally home.
Flins held onto you close, welcoming this moment of love.
âYou didnât have to...â you mumbled with guilt laced in your tone upon noticing the load that he had carried.
âWhat husband would I be if I could not meet my dear wifeâs needs? Especially at such a crucial time?â His thumb brushed past your cheek, pressing a loving kiss on your temple.
You blinked, looking at him with bashfulness in your expression. You parted away from him, intertwining your hands behind your back as you glanced at the many bags.
If you dealt with this day and night for months, how could he not look after you? To remedy your cravings and heightened preferences. If he had to reach for the stars, he would do just that and more.
âPeppers, jelly, and cheese. A little bird sang to me of this last night...â He smiled as he began to take each item out one by one. Jars of jelly, others of peppers, and of course some of cheese.
There would be somedays that Flins would note how youâd be a little reluctant to express your cravings. He did not dare to ask you about it as he knew itâd embarrass you, but he also knew how uneasy youâd become when you could not satisfy your cravings.
It was a tricky situation.
As he was momentarily lost in thought, he was pulled out upon noticing how you looked at him so very intently. How your eyes carefully trailed down his soft hair and then to his eyes you adored looking at.
His eyes, you donât ever recall them holding any ill intentions towards you. Or any betraying thoughts or motives. Theyâve only ever looked at you with soft adoration, a look reserved for you only.
Small tears began to well up. Your vision grew blurred with the sheen of tears that began to overflow. Your love and affection for him, you suddenly could not contain it. And so your tears spilled.
âMy love, please forgive meâŚâ Flins carefully brought his hand up to your face, unsure if he had said or expressed something that might have hurt you. His brows pressed upwards with sorrow while carefully wiped the stray tears with his thumbs.
âItâs okayâŚâ you blubbered with a slight crack to your words. You could feel the warmth rushing to your cheeks. Your display of emotions becoming sudden and confusing even to you.
He came closer, âyour tears, I donât wish to be the reason they fall.â
You shook your head once again, now hiding your face just where his collarbone would be underneath his coat.
âNo, you did nothing wrong. I just love you so much, I couldnât help myself...â
A sigh of relief escaped his lips, but it was not noticeable to you past your sniffles. His arms circled around your body, embracing the warmth and love that radiated from you at this very moment.
âI love you more than words can express, you truly have my heart.â He voiced quietly above your ear.
âWould you like me to prepare your craving?â Flins asked behind the counter of the small kitchen. The label was debatable, actually. It had been an open space is the small living space he used to display his collections in. But upon your arrival to his humble home, he began to add to it for your comfortability and access.
âI donât find it appetizing right now..â You looked at Flins from your seated position.
âVery well, perhaps I could make you your favorite?â
This was immediately answered with a gleam in your eyes, to which he replied with a soft chuckle. The one thatâd never fail to set your heart to flutter.
The countless hours he had spent in town for the ingredients he was no longer going to use? It didnât matter. All that mattered to him was that smile that he adored.
