Continuation-ish —> click here
—> Female reader, young daughter.
“She looks lonely, doesn’t she…?”
You asked, resting your head on Flins’ shoulder as you both watched the young girl by herself.
Lonely? She never truly was with you and Flins as her mother and father.
More so in the sense that she does not have a companion close to her age. A friend, a sibling.
He did not answer immediately.
In silence, he glanced at you briefly before looking at how his daughter seemed to drift off. She did indeed seem lonely.
And it was not just now that he and you would notice this, it was a regular occurrence through her habits that at first glance seemed cute and innocent.
Such as how she’d gently tuck in her stuffed animals beside her, or having conversations held by just her.
How she’d play dress up with them in clothes that were sizes too small for her now. Even how she’d sit them beside her at the dinner table.
Or how she’d gesture for Flins and you to give a good nights kiss to her plushies, which of course neither of you would deny.
He sighed with turmoil.
“Yes, I’ve noticed this…”
You hummed quietly, eyes saddened with unresolved thoughts. Being the observant one, Flins noticed you had something more to say but just couldn’t quite voice it.
“Perhaps what’s in your heart and mind is whether she ought to have a sibling.” He noticed your immediate reaction. To which he smiled, lacing his fingers with yours.
Your silence was enough of an answer.
The three of you rested on the cool grass beneath. The night had finally come and so it revealed the many glittering stars above.
Her little voice broke the silence upon noticing how a glimmer of light raced down the sky. She excitedly pointed to it, looking at you both who rested on either side of her.
“They say you should make a wish. If your heart means it, it’ll come true.” You softly nudged your daughter, encouraging her to make a thoughtful wish. Flins smiled to himself, finding the whimsy absolutely adorable.
Before you could say it must stay a secret, she blurted her wish out with no hesitation whatsoever.
“I want to be a big sister!” she wished proudly. Your lips part to say something, but nothing came of it. Flins did not react, not even the lightest twitch.
After a couple of quiet seconds, Flins once again glanced at you with a thoughtful expression. The same one he had worn when you asked him if he noticed how lonely she seemed.
“My, this is not the first I hear of this today…” He smiled, his eyes lingering on you as he gently ruffled his daughter’s hair.
In his eyes, you noticed that he shared the same thoughts you expressed earlier. And with her proud wish being blurted out, it only confirmed what you both worried about.
He closed his eyes, his heart strumming a tune of wonder. Just how life would be if there were another bloom in the family.
He wished for it as well.
This opens the door for a certain type of fic if you catch my drift wink wink wonk :O lololol.
