What horror! How could she ever survive such an attack?! It is with the fiercest bravery that Akako hugs tighter, with her face burrowing in the space between his neck and his shoulders.

“Sleight of hand is all I’ve managed in real life.” He should know that. Unless? Oh, it was probably happening again. Maybe what she already said will be enough of a hint? But maybe she should say more anyway. Or would it be too weird to say it so suddenly?
In the end, Akako ended up debating the pros and cons of each choice for too long to say anything else on the matter swiftly.
‘ huh? …. i don’t get you .’ this akako feels different , instead of the ones he knows . there’s confusion written on his face as soon as the ‘witch’ said it . had he ended in a different universe after that heist ? he decided to play along .
‘ well, that’s cool .what trick did you learn? ’ kaito inquires , raising an eyebrow . ‘ ..like pulling a rabbit out of a hat ? ’
Akako shook her head. “I don’t have any rabbits, and I’m not skilled enough yet to try anything with the stage doves.” She hoped she put enough emphasis on that. While she loved the doves the show worked with dearly, and knew they trusted her, she still didn’t trust her ability enough yet to risk potentially hurting them.
She fished a deck of cards out of her pocket and readied them. Spread them out with her hands and made a show of showing off both sides. “A normal deck of cards, right?” Oh no, she was getting nervous. Since this wasn’t the actor she knew, it probably meant he was far more skilled than she could ever hope to be. It was intimidating, to say the least. How did the next part go again?

akako isn’t in her usual clothes ? that got the thief curious as he turned to face her . ‘ eh ? what kind of a trick are you practicing ?’ he inquires her . ‘ i thought you’re still into witchcraft & hocus pocus ?’
“Eh?“ Akako unconsciously mirrored the start of his sentence. “I mean. I do like learning about that kind of magic, but I mean-” she trails off a bit. She couldn’t just say magic wasn’t real. If there was anything with real magic around to hear her, it might be insulted! And that’s how people got in trouble in those kinds of stories! Still, she wasn’t the character she played.

Akako has to stifle a laugh of her own when her own name is mentioned. No. Be in character. Be Kaito. The hand she raised to cover her mouth is switched to scratching her cheek instead. Kaito did that a lot.
“How should I prove it? Do you want to see a magic trick?” Because she could never prank Saguru-kun for as small a reason as proof.
“If ya can do one! That’s too hard fer an imposter ta pull off.” He has faith in her for that, he’s just teasing her as always.
But before he can think of a card trick for her to do, an idea strikes him. “Oh, what if we go to tha bird room right now and see how ya can handle ‘em? I know how much ya love yer doves,” he adds with a twinkle in his eyes. He still remembers the last time they had all the doves on set and he found her covered in feathery friends.
Akako could have probably pulled something off with what was around, but when he mentioned the doves, she had to contain her glee. She loved learning magic tricks and watching pranks, but the doves were one of the best parts of this set!
“Sure, if you think that’s enough proof, I’m game.” That was close enough to how Kaito talked, right?

“Ah!” Akako couldn’t help the sound of surprise. But then she cleared her throat. “I mean,” she lowered her voice as much as it would go, which wasn’t terribly convincing, and yet “who else would it be?”
Did he know? Probably. But two could play in this space! Improv was difficult, but great practice. And one of the most important rules of improv was “yes and.” Akako could do this. She could!
Saguru stifles a laugh; she’s quick on the draw, he has to give her that. And that’s just one of her strengths when it comes to acting! His friends are so talented…!
“I’unnooooo,” he says teasingly, humming thoughtfully. “You an’ Kudo-han look tha same, so it coulda been him! Or maybe Aoko-chan? Or Akako-chan…..”
He rubs his chin thoughtfully. “Hmmm…..now that I think about it, there’s a lotta people you could be! You may hafta prove that yer Kaito-kun somehow…”

No one would notice if she took it for a bit, right? It wasn’t as if it had been used recently. And Akako liked how she felt when she wore it.
She had been sneaking around in the costume for a while, when she heard the door open.
Busted.
It wasn’t as if Saguru was trying to be nosy or ruin Akako’s fun, really! It just so happened that he walked into a room just as a “shadowy figure” was dashing out of it, and he knew for a fact that Kaito was off-set to go film something else.
But that begged the question…who else would it be? And so he followed the “mysterious stranger” until he could corner- Akako! Of course! He’s not surprised at all, actually. Maybe it’s because she looks so cute in it anyways.
“Ne, Kaito-kun, yer lookin’ kinda different today! Did ya do somethin’ with yer hair?”
He’s joking, of course- the bright smile on his face at catching Akako in the act is proof enough of that.

((i know i haven’t been active much but i have been still lurking. this is just a notice that last night my laptop refused to connect to the internet, and then refused to turn back on after attempting a restart. i got it on today, but i can’t say for sure it won’t happen again. it’s been struggling for a bit now it’s just none of the things i normally try worked last night
on the plus side: i’ve got a local friend who’s good at building computers so she’ll take care of all the parts i bought last year but was too afraid to do anything with OTL so i should have a new working computer within the week.
might attempt some drafts today or might write fic or something instead, that waits to be seen. this is just a notice that yes, i am still alive, just stuff has been happening and “what’s a focus can i eat it?”))

“Don’t be silly, I didn’t have time for sleep.” She had to make six hundred cups of tea, lady. “I slept when I was done.”
“But breaks are important! And since you slept when you were done, that means you still need sleep.” Akako nods to herself once, then puts another bite of food into her mouth.

“Oh. Well. Since you’re sure.” Akako hated letting food go to waste. So she went back to eating.
Though. “How did you learn to cook so well?” She’s careful to make sure her mouth is empty again before speaking, of course.
“Forty hours making tea.” Shes completely straight-faced as she gets started on her own plate. “Why?”
“That’s a lot of tea. How long did that take you in days? You slept, right?” Akako knew how it got, sometimes. It wasn’t as if she had never stayed up late reading a script to memorize her lines.

“But it’s only polite!” Oh goodness, there’s already more food on her plate. Akako isn’t sure what else can be done besides eat it.
Perhaps she can perform something when she’s done? That might work.
“You’re sure?”
“I’m sure. I always make enough to feed an army anyway, it’ll go to waste otherwise.”
“Oh. Well. Since you’re sure.” Akako hated letting food go to waste. So she went back to eating.
