Lena slept deeply in a lingerie set that was meant for Vinny, but she and Tibby had had too much fun the night before and didn’t get around to switching rooms with their boyfriends. There was some noise outside the door which led to Lena’s glued together eyes flickering open, but it was practically painful to keep them that way. Only open long enough to check her phone and the time. She let out a loud groan for the benefit of whoever was on the other side of the door and chucked her hand in that direction, a mopey wave of magic sent in the direction and unlocking the door for whoever wanted to disturb her. It could’ve been a murderer, but at least she’d go in her sleep. 

When the door swung open, Vincent jumped only the slightest bit before poking his head in. “Sex kitten,” he crooned quietly, eyes adjusting to the dark. He didn’t want to disturb Tibby; no need for two sleep deprived witches. He made his way over to Lena’s bed, and slowly crawled up behind her. “Mon petite, wake up,” he whispered, brushing hair from her face. He didn’t draw too too close to her, not wanting to frighten her first thing. “I have a surprise for you,” he added, a little above a whisper, before wincing and shrugging his shoulders to his ears as he heard Tibby roll over in her bed.

Vinny couldn’t believe their good luck. For once, for once the school had gotten something right, and it truly felt like a dream come true. Here they were in the most romantic city, (well, before he’d met Lena, Vin didn’t believe that, but now it was like he had stars in his eyes), just miles from his old stomping grounds, and they were given pretty much free reign of the place. No school work, no classes to interrupt their time, no teachers meddling (”what are you two doing in that cupboard?”), and even vouchers for restaurants. He showered quickly when he awoke, not caring if he’d wake his meathead roommate. He, Gerard, Lena, and Tibby agreed to all room together, so they could swap when the teachers went to bed. Dressed in dark jeans, a Kinks shirt, and his black, leather jacket, Vince pulled on his black boots and slipped out into the hallway. It was about six in the morning, but he knew of a little bakery that only served until eight that Lena would like. He rapped on her door gently with his knuckles. “Mon amor,” he crooned through the wood. “Wake up, mon petite,” he called.

“It’ll be magical.” She murmured back as they held themselves close. She shrieked out giggles when he kissed her all over, pushing him back softly when he ended up tickling her neck. “Yes! Cocktails and dancing. We’re practically on holiday already.” She started off with him, resting her head on his arm for a moment. “I saw a guy in class the other day just staring at Emily, I think I might try play matchmaker. Is that terrible?”

Vinny grinned as she pushed him back, feeling like he had to be the luckiest guy in the world to even so much as get to look at Lena, let alone be dating her and being beside her this very moment. “That’s not terrible at all, Yenta, matchmake away,” he laughed, squeezing her hand again. “I’m sure you know a good match when you see it,” he reassured her.

“I can’t wait. You, me and the world.” She gazed up adoringly, seeing their future after this school, seeing them travel all over the world, him playing music in venues all over the world. kissing in the sunset, making love under the stars, no cares in the world. Her heart ached for their future, and her heart ached for him now. She tiptoed and kissed him, all her love put into it. “It’s going to be incredible. Sunbathing, listening to you, cocktails and dancing.” 

Vincent pulled her close into him when she kissed him, and connected his hands together at the small of her back, gazing down at her with a sleepy grin. “It’ll be great,” he murmured, and then leaned forward, resting his forehead on hers gently, closing his eyes a moment. He wished they could just make decisions themselves without this whole Disney schtick getting in the way; if they were students anywhere else, they could take a year off uni and go travel if they wanted to. “Speaking of cocktails and dancing!” His eyes flew open, and he squeezed her tight, before leaning down and peppering kisses all over her face and burying his face in her neck. “We’ve got a date to get to!” Vince grinned, reaching down and taking her hand, leading her back down the path towards town.

Gerard’s brows furrowed together at the question, looking sideways at him until he corrected it. Most wouldn’t have taken something so small as an offence, but Gerard’s ego was trumped up a little too big most days. “Lacrosse, football, baseball.” He stated, feeling like this was public knowledge already. Besides, Gerard knew Vinny played guitar. He’d even been to one of his performances, albeit he was dragged by Tibby, but that wasn’t the point. If they were still doing this stupid foursome deal, he expected Vincent clapping at his games. 

“Oh, right, right,” Vinny nodded again, and then sighed, tapping his phone in his pocket as he grasped for something to talk about. He never really liked sports, and they all seemed the same. Two teams usually fighting over some sort of ball, pointless really. Though he did enjoy kicking around a football now and then with his brothers. “What’s your favorite?” He asked, tilting his head.

Gerard could tell that Vinny didn’t fancy the chat, but that was part of why he did it. It was a special sort of torture. He didn’t know what Vinny’s problem was, his social standing was increased tenfold just by sitting beside the blonde. “Not hugely, a lot of the seasons are out at the moment so.” He shrugged to finish the sentence, nodding slowly as he looked around for some sort of inspiration. Their common interests seemed to be entirely the two girls that had dragged them to this dull misconception of a day out. 

“Right, right,” Vincent nodded, as though he was all very interested in it. “What is it that you do again?” He’d meant to sound conversational, but the words came out: what is it that you do again? “I mean, what sports do you play?” Vinny added, trying to be nice. He knew that Lena loved Tibby, and that Tibby was some how infatuated with this guy, and that Lena’d probably be happy if her boyfriend was friends with her best friend’s boyfriend. Friends, the word felt wrong just thinking about it. Friendly was a bit more possible.

She turned into him, using her free hand to hold onto his chest. She grinned up at him dreamily. “Italy, for the food. France, for the wine. Switzerland, for the snow.” There were a thousand other places she’d like to go, she didn’t want to bore him with the list. “Where would you like to go?”

Vince grinned and caught her up in his arms when she turned into him, using one hand to cup her face gently. “Man, when we get out of this place, we’ve got to see the world,” he commented, staring down into her beautiful green eyes. “We do have some excellent wine back home,” he boasted a bit, and pulled her in for a little squeeze. “I’d like to go to all of those places; maybe Hawaii some day. I have this fantasy of living on a beach, playing my guitar with my feet in the sand,” Vin chuckled.

There was a few positives about being dragged out shopping by Tibby, but it was mostly negatives that flooded his mind as he sat in the chairs facing the changing rooms. Vinny was at his side, and that was probably half the issue from the start. Gerard checked his phone for the tenth time that minute, but things were painfully quiet despite the searching texts he’d sent his actual friends. Why couldn’t Lena date one of his teammates instead, then it would be a barrel of laughs every time. He readjusted the neck of his top and sighed, “So what’ve you been up to then?”

Vincent was excited when Lena invited him out to shop with her; he’d had visions of making out with her in the fitting room, taking photos of her in every outfit she would try on, and playing music from his phone for her to model the clothes to. Then she said she was going with Tibby and Gerard too, and it all changed. He couldn’t have backed out at that point though, he loved her too much to do that. So there he was, sitting beside one of the biggest blockhead jocks he’d ever known. Vinny spent most of the time apart from the girls on his phone, trying to set up a venue for when they got back from the school trip, until Gerard inevitably tried to start a conversation. “Oh,” he murmured, pocketing his phone after sending an email. “You know. Not much,” Vin sighed, resting his palms on his knees, before glancing sideways at Ger. “You?”

“I love a good complaint letter.” Lena stated with a smile, and she’d sent a couple to tv stations when they cancelled shows that she loved. “I don’t know either, but we can just go back and forth if we need to.” She squidged out the door beside him, leaning her head on his shoulder as they went. “If we run off for a week, do you think they’d find us?”

When she leaned against his shoulder, he pecked the top of her head gently. “No, we could hide from these jerks,” Vinny chuckled, squeezing her hand three times, as though each beat sounded off I. Love. You. “Where would we go?” He asked, wanting to do everything with her.

Lena let out a dull hmph at the comment, it was hard not to dislike the person that made your parent a villian, hated by all, which then passed down to her, hated by all. “Well he could treat us for it then.” She slipped her arm around his waist and had the door open for them before they reached it. “Somewhere hot, or cold? Beach or skiing?”

“We should write a letter demanding it,” Vincent chuckled, wanting to make things light again. “I want both,” he laughed, shaking his head. “Not sure where there’s a warm beach and a mountain filled with snow, but I’m sure they could figure something out.” Vin grinned as she opened the door for them, and happily loped out the door with his love by his side.

Lena giggled and leaned her hand back against his chest as they moved down the corridor, less than graceful but she didn’t mind one bit. “Same, it would be cruel of them not to though.” She tipped her head sideways to look up at him, brows lifted. “Really? Maybe they’ll take us skiing or something. A holiday would be cool. You think they have the money for that? I know we can do day trips, but I want a proper holiday.” 

“Oh, I’m sure they have enough funding for that. The guy who runs the place is loaded; made tons of money off all of our parents.” Vincent shrugged. He didn’t know the logistics of it all, and didn’t want to think about it too much. He’d had too much to drink one night and started to wonder if this Disney bloke wasn’t their founding father of sorts, and began to question his whole existence. “I want one too! Can’t remember the last time I had a nice holiday.”

Lena let her head fall back with a laugh at the way he kicked his leg up and followed with him, ducking under his arm and pulling him along with her. She felt a bit giddy, despite the fact they’d been together for a few months now. It still felt new and exciting and this surprise had her wanting to text Tibs and tell her everything that happened, before anything had even happened. Lena had every intention of doing something nice to reciprocate the effort he was making. 

Vincent grinned as she pulled him along, and spun her around once, and then hugged her back into his chest as he staggered them down the hall. “I’m so glad they’re giving us some time off for the holidays. Supposed to have some big announcement coming soon, I think. Wonder what they’re up to at headquarters,” Vinny chuckled, sliding his arm around her shoulder to walk alongside each other.

Lena chuckled airily, shaking her head because that was an exaggeration, but it made her feel like she was the most beautiful woman in the world. She kissed him back, then wiped the lipgloss from his mouth with a smirk. “Suits you.” Lena ran her fingers through the hair behind his temple with a soft smile. “Shall we?” 

Vinny grinned goofily, feeling a certain type of high from kissing her. Not just kissing in itself; he’d kissed loads of people in the past, but kissing Lena, kissing his girlfriend, instilled a certain euphoria deep in his very bones. “Yes, let’s go, kitten!” He said excitedly, kicking a leg up in the air in the direction of the door. His hand slid down her arm to take her hand and led her out, opening the door and holding it open for her to go under his arm.

Lena wasn’t one to blush, but she felt all girlish at the compliment. Vinny did that to her. “Oh come on,” She denied, shaking her head slightly before sliding her hands up around his neck. “Thank you.” Lena smiled softlly, but lit up at the mention of going dancing. “Ooh, you know I love dancing.” She pat his chest lightly, grinning excitedly.

“God really broke the mold when he made you, Leen,” he sighed, feeling slightly jealous of the strangers they’d meet tonight simply for the fact that they’d get to see her for the first time in their lives. He’d not soon forget the first time he saw her; she looked like a goddess licking that ice lolly on a hot summer day. She still made his heart go rapid just by looking at him, and offering that lovely smile she wore. “Good,” he grinned, and pulled her into an embrace, kissing her soundly on the mouth.

Lena dabbed a pretty nude lipgloss on, checked her hair one last time and then went back, pausing in the doorway with a bent leg pose in her heels. She looked at him through her lashes, “What do you think? Too dressy?” She asked, still uncertain what they were going to do. 

Vincent glanced up when she appeared, and had to do a double take, slamming his hands onto his chest emphatically. “Oh my god, you’re perfect,” he muttered, shaking his head as he walked over to her. “Stunning,” Vince added, slipping his hands around her waist and leaning in to kiss her. “I hope you like dancing,” giving a tiny hint of what he had planned.

Lena’s eyes shut at the kiss, smiling to herself at the affection. A giggle followed his comment, nodding because she knew that, but she loved to hear it anyway.  “Ooh,” She wiggled her shoulders in her singsong, “This is fun,” She let him go and went to her wardrobe, staring inside and thinking about what she should wear. She glanced back to Vinny, and he looked smart, she wanted to match. Lena pulled out a slinky black dress that she hadn’t had the chance to wear yet, and she didn’t think was suitable for any school party, and went into the bathroom to change and fix her hair from the messy bun she had it in. 

Vince entered the room as she went to her wardrobe, and shoved his hands into his pockets. He held his palm up to his mouth and breathed out into it, checking his breath after she disappeared into the bathroom to change. After popping a couple tictacs past his lips, Vincent wandered towards Lena’s bedroom, poking his head in to peek around, and then ambled around in a small box formation until she was ready.
