headcanon that neytiri has a heavy preference for girls and jake is literally the only boy she ever felt attracted to. this is why falling in love with him was so distressing and conflicting for her. not only did she fell for a literal sky person, but also a MAN. she still struggles to believe it
I love the “herbs from my forest heal faster” line because, while on a surface level it seems like nothing more than a bratty remark, it actually reveals so much of Neytiri’s inner feelings.
Neytiri has been forced to leave her beloved forest because of war, after already losing her home once, living without a hometree for 15 years and being displaced for one. She’s been living in emotional isolation for months exactly because of the separation from her home and people, a state that has significantly worsened with the death of her son. And when she finally did return home, she was injured, having barely survived a mortal wound, and most importantly she was terrified for her children’s safety. She saw her forest again, but because of the situation she didn’t even have the chance to rejoice or find solace; she saw only a glimpse of home, and soon had to go through the pain of leaving it, her mother and her people once again, without knowing if she would ever be back, with the ever-growing shadow of a new war looming ahead, a war that could very well take that home and everything and everyone she loves away from her permanently, a war she currently can’t even fight in because of her injury.
She is depressed and bitter and frustrated. So of course she rudely brags about her forest to Ronal—the woman who publicly shamed her and her family for their forest people features. It’s the only way she can show pride about the Omatikaya roots which she has been forced to abandon time and time again.
i want to hug neytiri so bad because i just KNOW she smells heavenly
like you can’t tell me jake isn’t constantly sniffing her and putting his head in her hair and the crook of her neck so that he can fully take in that otherworldly tropical sylvan scent. and i want to do the same
I wish Spider stans would stop pretending they even remotely like, appreciate or empathize with Neytiri and just be honest about the way they feel about her. To me these people are even worse than open Neytiri antis exactly because of how shamelessly hypocrital they are. They try to hide a disgustingly racist (and often misogynistic as well) view of Neytiri’s character behind a fake mask of appreciation. And what is worse is that they use this mask to deflect any type of criticism, by shamelessly having this immensely infuriating “see? I said I love Neytiri so I’m justified in saying the most atrocious and racist things about her and you can’t call me out for it!” attitude, and using this “I’m not being racist and misogynistic to her, I’m simply making honest critiques about her character, and actually I’m allowed to say these atrocious and racist things about her because you Neytiri stans are incapable of criticizing her, when you defend her from the racist treatment she receives you’re actually doing her a disservice” narrative to put themselves on a moral high ground and to further pass themselves off as the #real Neytiri fans and understanders. The majority of the fandom will buy and praise their bullshit because the majority of the fandom is just as racist and misogynistic as them, but their viewpoints are actually always very clear to anyone who has a working brain and basic human empathy. At least have the courage to be open about them.
I have to speak my truth before the movie comes out (and just to be clear I have absolutely nothing against people who disagree, this is just my opinion). I don’t want Quarang to happen. I don’t think there’s any need for that. I find this ship very uninteresting and unnecessary.
We’ve literally seen the same exact storyline in the two past movies, with Jake and Neytiri first and then with Lo’ak and Tsireya. I don’t need yet another version of the same ship, even if it’s a toxic one. In my opinion there would be absolutely nothing appealing about them as a couple, and I’d actually consider this lazy and needlessly repetitive storytelling.
And I just want Varang to exist on her own. For once in these movies I’d like to see a female character and one of the female leads, who is also an incredibly layered, complex and cool villain, to be allowed to exist and have an interesting and fulfilling storyline without having to be the romantic partner of a male character (who also happens to be her planet’s colonizer). I think Varang and Quaritch’s relationship as allies will be interesting to see but I really don’t need them to be lovers as well.
Okay so. I wanted to give an updated version of my opinion on Quarang after watching the movie.
I… surprisingly enjoyed them. Especially the effect Varang had on Quaritch, and the fact that he genuinely seemed smitten with her and even to care about her, to some extent at least. Idk, I don’t think they’ve explored their relationship enough to say with certainty if there’s genuine affection between them, especially on Varang’s part (I personally think so, at least on his end, but that’s not the point). They’re not my fav by any means but I didn’t mind watching them at all, on the contrary. BUT. I was deeply disappointed to see that I was essentially right. Their relationship was entertaining and they had great chemistry, but the moment they got together, Varang lost all agency and her and the Mangkwan were sidelined and shoved into the background. I know it’s likely mostly due to time constraints, but it’s still disappointing to see how both Varang and the Mangkwan ended up having such a minor role after their alliance with Quaritch and the RDA. Though I still have hope that they’ll make up for this by focusing more on them in the future movies
Adding a bit to this now that I’ve had that chance to sit with my feelings for a while. And truly my opinion on this ship is just a balanced mix of what I’ve expressed in the previous parts of this post: while I don’t mind watching them when they’re on my screen, I dislike the ship as a concept. I don’t ship them, I just think it’s fun watching them together. The only way I can enjoy Quarang, and the only way I can accept it in general, is in a Varang-centered way. As long as it is she who has power over him and not the opposite, as long as she doesn’t have to make sacrifices for him—her values (even if they suck), her people, her position as olo’eykte (many people are already theorizing that she should give the role to Quaritch)—I am okay with them as a couple. I only casually enjoy them in a “Quaritch is a loser and I hope Varang eventually eats his heart” kind of way
Kaltxì! I’ve noticed many in the Avatar fandom use Generative AI to make OCs because “I can’t draw” or “There’s no resources” SO! I’ve put together this comprehensive list of resources to make your own Na’vi OC! Generative AI is extremely harmful on the environment and its use goes against the Avatar franchises message!

["Tsalnu concept. the 'egg' is squishy. more like...a sac or cocoon, they're aliens. encouraged for babies to 'hatch' on their own, this can take hours. pril's sac broke upon birth, which is possible from high-stress births or dangerous births."

Neytiri te Tskaha Mo’at’ite had always moved through the world with a grace that stole your breath. The entire clan knew her skill with a bow; every arrow she loosed cut through the air in a single, unwavering line, guided by a confidence so effortless it seemed woven into her very bones. Hunters spoke of her the way singers spoke of legends. No beast eluded her, no target escaped her. She walked with the poise of one who understood Eywa’s rhythms intimately, as though the forest whispered its secrets only to her. Even before you fell in love with her, you admired her—this woman who could quiet a room simply by drawing the string of her bow.
Her talent did not end with the hunt. When she flew, she flew with the kind of joy that turned even the sternest warriors soft-eyed. Her ikran answered her touch like a creature enchanted; the pair of them sliced through the sky with a unity that made onlookers murmur prayers of gratitude. She treated flight not only as skill but as communion, her face bright with exhilaration each time she returned, braids wind-tangled, eyes glowing like bioluminescent veins. You remembered watching her once as she landed; how she laughed, warm and melodic, chest rising with breath heavy from the thrill. In that moment you thought there was no way Eywa allowed one person to hold so much brilliance.
Her hands, capable of drawing a bowstring with lethal precision, were equally deft at beadwork. She embroidered stories into every piece she created, placing each bead with a seriousness that bordered on reverence. The bands she made caught the light with subtle beauty; no matter how small the detail, she poured heart and memory into it. More than once, while she worked, you caught her brow softening with focus, her lips parting slightly as if speaking silently to the beads themselves. Those little gestures carved themselves into your memory; so deeply tender, so deeply Na’vi, so deeply Neytiri.
Even at Grace’s school she had been known as the brightest, her mind sharp and curious. Knowledge delighted her. Grace once described her as having a mind “that glows brighter than atokirina (woodsprites),” and you believed it. Neytiri learned with laughter, approaching every new idea with the humility of one who knew she was still a student of Eywa’s vast world.
You never understood how such a woman ever noticed you. Even your courtship gifts had been an awkward ordeal. The first time you tried to present one, you nearly dropped the carved piece of wood at her feet because your palms were so damp. You remembered her expression clearly: her ears tilted back in surprise, her eyes wide with shy warmth. Her cheeks deepened to a soft violet hue from flattered delight. Neytiri had reached for the gift with hesitant fingertips, her gaze skittering away from yours as though looking directly at you required a courage she was still gathering. Seeing her like that, this formidable hunter reduced to shyness, made your heart seize in your chest.
Each gift after that went no more gracefully, yet she treasured every one. You saw the way she brushed her thumb over them when she thought no one watched, the way her lips curved upward in a quiet, private smile. She looked shy, yes, but also pleased in a way that filled you with desperate, grateful wonder. She was far beyond your reach, and yet she kept turning her gaze toward you.
Tonight she was radiant beneath the night canopy as both of you darted through the forest. The world glimmered around her; glowing moss lighting the path, clusters of luminescent insects drifting like living sparks. Neytiri ran ahead of you, laughter spilling from her lips in bright, unrestrained bursts. Her braids swung behind her, catching the scattered light. Her tail swayed with each leap as she wove effortlessly between thick roots and hanging vines.
Her laughter carried through the trees with the ease of wind weaving through leaves. “Ma yawntu! (my beloved)” she called back to you, voice warm with teasing affection. “Are your feet so heavy tonight?”
Your breath caught from the sight of her joy unburdened. This was the Neytiri the world rarely saw. The weight of duty so often pressed on her shoulders, yet this evening the forest held her gently, letting her be playful and unrestrained.
“I run as fast as Eywa allows me,” you called back, though your voice cracked with shy amusement. Your chest tightened when she glanced over her shoulder, eyes bright with pure happiness. She looked at you for a heartbeat too long before she jerked her gaze away, her ears rising high with flustered warmth. That shyness always made your pulse stutter.
You pushed forward, trying to close the space between you. The forest floor glowed under your steps, each touch releasing faint spirals of blue light. Neytiri’s silhouette danced between towering trunks, her outline shimmering as she slowed just enough to let you catch up before darting away again. She giggled and the sound vibrated through your ribs, leaving you weak.
She wasn’t the legendary huntress right now. She wasn’t the Olo’eyktan’s and Tsahik’s daughter. She wasn’t the best shot in Pandora or the gifted student or the beadworker whose hands shaped beauty.
She was Neytiri, your Neytiri, cheeks tinted with shy color each time she risked glancing back at you, lips curled into a smile that looked crafted just for this night. Her joy filled the forest as much as the bioluminescent glow did. You chased her not to catch her but because running after her felt like chasing the warmth of a rising sun.
Your heart thudded painfully as she paused atop a curved root, turning toward you with breathless excitement. Her chest rose and fell quickly, and her tail flicked with bashful anticipation. She looked at you with eyes filled with affection so intense it softened every part of you.
“You run well, ” she murmured as you reached her, her voice lowering with shy tenderness.
You swallowed, heat pooling in your cheeks as you tried and failed to hold her gaze. “Only because you give me reason to.”
Her ears trembled, her blush deepening like dusk settling over the horizon. She hid her face for a moment behind her braids, shoulders lifting in a shy tremor that made you ache with adoration.
You reached toward her without thinking, drawn by the soft rise of her breath and the delicate way her fingers curled near her chest. Neytiri sensed your movement immediately; her eyes flashed with warm mischief as she hopped lightly back onto the root behind her. Her eyebrows lifted in a teasing arc, and her laughter rippled through the space between you.
You couldn’t help the giggle that burst out of you, your own shyness dissolving briefly into playful excitement. Your feet shifted into a mock fighting stance, knees bent, tail flicking behind you in a way that made Neytiri’s grin widen. She mirrored your pose with far more elegance, her shoulders loose, her body angled with the ease of a seasoned warrior pretending to be anything but. Her eyes gleamed with affectionate challenge.
Your first lunge was hopeless and slow, more a delighted leap than an actual attack. Neytiri spun aside with a sharp twist of her hips, brushing past you lightly enough that her braids whispered against your arm. She clicked her tongue in mock reprimand, her smile sharp with teasing pride.
You tried again, emboldened by her joy, but she had already circled behind you. Her hands closed around your waist. In a blink she used your momentum against you, pulling you down to the glowing moss with a fluidity that left you breathless. The forest floor illuminated beneath your back, sending soft blue spirals radiating out from your form. Neytiri straddled your hips with the self-assurance of a hunter who knew her victory was inevitable. Her grin softened into something tender and teasing, her tail curling lazily behind her as she leaned over you.
“Pinned,” she purred, voice low and amused. Her thumb brushed your cheek, tracing the warm flush that crept up your neck the longer she looked at you. “You fall so easily beneath me.”
Your heart fluttered wildly. You were so in love with her that it felt like your ribs could barely contain the feeling. Neytiri’s eyes flickered with recognition of that emotion. She lowered herself until her weight settled lightly along your torso, her breath fanning across your cheek. She nudged her forehead to yours, a soft, lingering gesture that made your breath catch.
Her lips brushed your temple before she shifted to nuzzle into your braids, inhaling as though drawing you into herself. Her hands framed your face, palms warm and certain. The shyness she’d shown earlier melted away entirely; she moved with the surety of someone who knew exactly what she wanted. And what she wanted was you.
She hovered for only a heartbeat before closing the distance.
Her kiss was confident, slow but full of intention. Her mouth pressed to yours with a hunger she didn’t bother to hide, her hands sliding to cradle your jaw as though you were fragile in the most precious way. You kissed back, but your shyness tangled with your breath, making your lips stutter against hers. Your fingers gripped the moss at your sides, desperate for grounding as her warmth seeped into every part of you.
Neytiri smiled into the kiss when she felt your hesitation—a soft, adoring smile. She eased the pressure just enough to guide you, her lips moving against yours in a rhythm both gentle and certain. Her eyelashes fluttered against your cheek as she tilted her head, coaxing you to follow her lead.
“You are sweet, ma yawntu,” she whispered against your lips before kissing you again, slower this time, deeper, her shyness completely vanished, replaced by radiant affection.
Your shyness, however, only grew. Your pulse raced, your breath trembled, and every inch of you lit up under her touch. Neytiri cupped your cheek and kissed you once more, savoring the softness of your response, the way you melted beneath her as though it was the easiest thing in the world.
i will get eywa to invent fem4fem pregnancy so neytiri could impregnate me. seriously though i hope you guys could tell from this that i deeply, deeply love her.
