❝ from what i remember, shili was beautiful. ❞

flat on her back underneath a carpet of unobstructed stars, it was easy to let her mind wander and voice go dreamy. the decision to pull little omega away from her enormous brothers and stretch out on the roof of the marauder seemed more worth it by the second. distant sounds of life in ord mantell buzzed through the air on its own peculiar frequency, though not too much to ruin the atmosphere or the view. here they were away from the neon of cid’s, the permanent twilight mood inside of the ravager, and away from town streets that no one like them should wander at such an hour.

❝ after i left the first time i’ve only been back once, when i was seven. i bet you’d like it. there are enormous jungles all over the planet, then plains so wide you’d see nothing but grass and sky in every direction. at night, the sky looked even bigger than it does here. so many constellations an stories to go with them. ❞ ahsoka sat up to wrap her arms around her knees and angled a look down at the younger girl. ❝ you had big rainstorms where you lived on kamino, right? sometimes storms like that would sweep over the plains on shili and we’d hear nothing but thunder for hours. lightning was so bright that no matter what time it was, it felt like the middle of the day when it struck. ❞

her lips curled up slowly, thoughts buoyed far away to what seemed like a simpler time. a different home than she’d come to memorize as she grew up. but the vision jolted a little as ahsoka began to laugh in surprise. ❝ beautiful? well i thought so. ❞ the togruta nudged her shoulder into omega’s, amused and hesitantly flattered. beautiful. she wished she could remember if that was a term anyone had called her people with her around to hear. ❝ i should show you a holovid sometime. togrutas are famous for making really dramatic ones. but they’re a wise and proud people, too. ❞ memories of the gentle timbre of shaak ti’s voice began to slip into her subconscious. grief always managed to lurk in places inside ahsoka she didn’t expect until turning a corner. a fear walked beside her, that one day grief would be all that filled her until she couldn’t think of anything else.

❝ there was one i knew back where i used to live. ….i hope she’s alright. togrutas can become sad when they’re alone for too long. ❞

but here was little omega, the only one of her kind despite her many siblings, keeping her company. ahsoka didn’t want to tamp down her smile, even knowing another kind of war raged everywhere else around them so soon after the last. in a fit of gratefulness, ahsoka gently reached an arm around the little clone’s narrow shoulders. ❝ i’m glad i’m not. ❞

OMEGA LISTENED INTENSELY to her words. The way she described her home planet... the young female was ecstatic. How she longed to see more planets, to see rainy days somewhere else, to see lush green grass, and beautiful tall trees. Omega was happy to see dirt. However, she was rather used to the rain and cold, and actually preferred it over the warmer weather. She often thought she would like the heat once she was able to enjoy it, but she surprised herself by realizing it wasn’t her favorite.

SHE KEPT HER knees to her chest, holding her legs for comfort. Her hazel hues were wide with wonder, “ I hope to visit sometime. It does sound nice. ” words were thoughtful, coming out with a hum, “ I think that would also be nice. If we can’t go there, I would still love to see any holovids on it. Any world! ”

“ I SHARE THE same feeling. I’m glad I’m not alone either. ”

THE YOUNG GIRL was never really in the company that talked back to her. She just hoped she wasn’t being too intrusive, or being a bother. She greatly enjoyed the company of her brothers, and was finding out more about having a family. She was part of something that she never thought she would have. A darker thought than most children should have her age, but she matured and yet not so.

“ I... THINK I know who you’re talking about, ” a smile appeared at the small embrace, leaning into the taller frame, “ I’ve seen her once or twice. ”

THE WORDS JUST slipped from her lips. They were so natural, so instant, and she was almost glad that he didn’t notice at first. Embarrassment grew on her cheeks, burning a soft pink hue. If she touched her small hand to her cheek, she could bet she could burn her fingers. Omega just called him something that she lacked, read about, knew about... but never really had. She found that in Hunter. She thought about it for such a long time too.

“ I... UM.... I... ” she swallowed thickly as she looked away, taking a step back even. Omega avoided his gaze, letting them stay there in silence until she thought of something else to say. There really wasn’t anything to say. It was a straight point name with more meaning than just his name.

OMEGA DIDN’T WANT to lie to her new family, and really didn’t want to lie to Hunter. So, she lifted her hazel gaze to meet him at last, “ I called you... dad. ”

SHE WASN’T USE to new people, or different races. However, she was a curious little thing, and she found her beautiful. The markings on her face, to the color of her skin, she was amazing, and she wanted to know more about her kind. For now, she sat quietly on the ground, hazel hues looked up at the dotted inky sky. The galaxy was vast, and Omega couldn’t wait to see more of it. This was always a good place to start.

“ WHAT'S YOUR HOMEWORLD like? ” Omega asked suddenly, arms wrapped around her knees as she pulled them close to her chest, “ Is everyone beautiful where you come from? ”

OMEGA REMEMBERED HER younger friend. If anything, she was the first. She had little free time, or space, to go out and speak to anyone. Grant it, everyone here was a clone. They were troopers... they were busy. Besides, she was different. Some didn’t react to her well. Which was fine. That really didn’t bother her all too much.

THE HUG TOOK her from such thoughts, and back to the present. It was a strong hug, and she felt the warmth her small body gave off. It was needed on such a cold watery planet like Kamino, “ It’s nice to see you again too! I was curious when you could come visit again. ”

“In any case, he is not here to complain about it.” Though the statement itself was factual, it came off as something flat. There was only so much Tech could believe before he felt it was false optimism. Although Omega’s presence was new, Tech was not unfamiliar with her expression of guilt for having a device that potentially belonged still to elder brother ( if only by a little ). Already, he could picture the pinched, sour look on the man’s face, older features stream-lined across worn face. Crosshair would no doubt sneer at the child and respond with something sarcastic and biting, as was his normal routine. The Marauder seemed to lack such snark, giving way to a quieter environment — it felt strange and unnatural. As did the galaxy.

Hydrospanner in hand, he got to work, quickly creating sparks before tinted goggles. There were only a few adjustments needed to be made, but Tech supposed a recalibration was in order. Maintenance was, after all, key to their survival during travel. He listened to Omega carefully, gaze flicking up from his work briefly, taking in her expression. He took note of her gaze on his work and, to accommodate her interest ( she’d began taking it after their first few repairs ), he tilted the vambrace so that she could properly see. “It is not a surprise that it would break over time. Though they are built to endure rough terrain and battle, they are still components that burn out and burst just as anything.”

Tech was not overly sentimental. While he could understand ranges of emotion, he chose not to linger on personal feelings for long, instead focusing on the more logical approach to ensure the team’s survival. Sparks fizzled around the tip of the tool as wiring was smelted together in binding union. Slowly, a brow arched over one thick-rimmed lens, a soft hum rumbling from the back of his throat. While he could register Omega’s optimism, he almost felt as if she had what Commander Cody had often called misplaced hope. It was their intention to bring Crosshair back, but Tech knew there was no forcing him. Their sniper brother was far too stubborn to buckle — Tech worried, in the back of his mind, just how much resistance Crosshair was putting up. How much he would put up against them.

“It all depends on if he wants to come back.” Shoulder pauldron rocked in gentle shrug. “Crosshair has a very severe personality. He doesn’t appreciate being told what to do… at least, he did not used to.” Now, however… well — the chips were part of that issue, weren’t they ? He needed to get back on that scanner. He lowered over his work to investigate before beginning to close the seams of the inner workings. “It will be up to him when the time comes. For now… we should focus on our next task.” He paused, glancing up as he closed the communication device. “Nala Se said you were her medical assistant. Had she ever asked you to run an inventory check of your supplies kept in the medical bay?”

NO, CROSSHAIR WASN’T here and that was the problem. She knew she didn’t have room to complain about not having her own, and she wouldn’t dare do so. It was just the thought of having it, and what he would say to her when he found out she was using it? Omega didn’t like being disliked, but that’s how the galaxy worked. Perhaps, that was the wrong word? Maybe he would like her, but lacks the patience for her. Either way, she liked Crosshair despite his rough exterior. Omega just didn’t want to be trouble for any one of them.

HER HAZEL HUES were dropped to what Tech was doing. She followed as much as she could, but most of it was lost to her. Some technology engineering was taught to her, but nothing on this level. Omega was happy to learn no matter what. These boys were her brothers, her family. Besides that, she did like to learn. Anything and everything to be of help.

SHE SIGHED. THERE really wasn’t a way she could get out of not using his. It was best she allowed this moment of her’s to pass. Omega would find her peace soon enough. She would also find what made her useful to The Bad Batch. Right now? She only felt like she was in the way. Despite the thoughts she had, they were pulled away as soon as she heard him speak. Not wanting to come back? She didn’t want to think that he wanted to stay there. Especially with him not liking orders so much. It didn’t make sense, “ I’m sure he wants to come home. ”

THE YOUNG GIRL leaned forward to watch him work even more closely. Lips were pulled in a thin line as she tilted her head in slight confusion. Once again, her thoughts were interrupted, “ Oh! Yes, she did. I was her medical assistant. I’m pretty efficient, ” Omega smiled warmly, “ Once or twice. She liked to keep a good eye on me. ”

The medical droid BEEPED in greeting to the other, quickly wheeling on treads to ensure the young one was kept safe. Although the hunter was his priority, a child’s care took current precedence. With a whirring scan, B4 checked over her straps, scomp extending to twist into the proper link, allowing the safety bar to lower over her head and click into place. With a loud hum, treads glowed a deep indigo before droid was magnetically stationed upon the ground. With another reassuring beep, optics flickered as an encouraging BUZZ erupted, small servo extending to give a thumbs-up gesture.

Gloved fingers were upon the controls, one hand on the throttle, the other quickly yanking down his harness to strap himself in. Console ignited with red and violet, screens popping up in flickering holos - maps, coordinates, bounty lists and a TARGETING system. The ship RATTLED as blaster fire hit the shields, hammering against the wavering program. Hiro quickly turned the ship, pushing forward hard on the THROTTLE, thrusters roaring as ion-engines burned through the forces behind them. Ship skid along the ground, bouncing a FEW times before lurching, lifting and quickly tilting at an awkward ANGLE. Hiro made a face, setting another program sequence before the ship jolted, pulling back before LAUNCHING upwards into the skies, pushing through dark clouds and moving through to the stars. Sound CRACKLED around them as they broke atmosphere, ship’s engines howling before settling, structure rocking side to side. “ Skrag - this thing is never stable ! Hold on, kid. ”

HYPERSPACE swirled in blue as they moved through at speeds of light. Breaking through, Hiro sighed in relief, armored shoulders sagging. He twisted to check on the other, then turned back as soon as the lights on the CONSOLE blared with warning sounds and flashing RED. Hiro immediately pulled the throttle back and narrowly avoided a drifting ASTEROID. Hitting the controls, the engines sputtered out and the ship LURCHED to a stop, casually swaying in the BELT of scattered rock, allowing orbit to guide them. “ Kriff… that was a ROUGH one. Sorry about that. ”

Brushing tattered cloak aside, Hiro moved to stand and made way towards the other. Although he claimed to be a bounty hunter, his armor was more reminiscent to that of a CLONE trooper, customized to suit his smaller body. “ I don’t know HOW you got mixed up with those hunters. You must be VALUABLE to someone out there. Don’t you know how to keep your head low ? ” Stopping short of the other, he quickly nudged his droid and advised to unlock the girl’s safety restraints. “ You hungry ? I’ve got a few rations left - you can HAVE ‘em. You probably need them more than me. ”

HER EYES shut tightly, hands gripped the seat's edge, and she told herself everything would be fine. Omega hardly flew before she met THe Bad Batch, but lately, flying was her least favorite thing. Well, when they were retreating from something. It was too intense and made her feel sick. Like she did now. Perhaps, he was a good pilot, but to her standards, everyone was. So, she swallowed thickly, and tried not to focus on the shaking and trembling of the cabin she was in.

SOON, THE shuddering came to a smooth path. Hazel eyes fluttered open to look out the view port. The familiar blue hyperspace wrapped around them, and she knew that they would be safe for now. A more steady fight with no blaster fire aimed at them. That was the last thing she needed. Omega was not enjoying being a bounty. Though, she supposed, no one really enjoyed being a bounty. Who liked someone chasing after them for money? Half the time they didn’t know for what. However, everything was fine... for now. Yes, she was in the hands of a bounty hunter, but she had the strangest feeling that he didn’t mean her any harm. Navie of a child to believe in those types of promises from bounty hunter’s, but this was different. He seemed much younger than the rest of the hunters she knew of.

OMEGA KEPT herself in her seat, still strapped in as she looked over at the pilot. Brows were furrowed, but more in a questioning manner. Omega wished for an explanation. That much she figured she should have. Her eyes then drifted over the armor he wore. Now that he was closer, she could tell what the armor was. She saw it many times upon many bodies. Clone armor. He wore it casually, and was being rather nice. He was also nice to a droid, and that was something that came as a good trait, a good person. The offer of food was also another good trait, but perhaps there was something wrong with the food.

“ I-I’M NOT very hungry, ” she said as politely as she could, thankful to have her restraints removed. Omega felt as though she could breathe again, “ Who are you? You don’t seem like a bounty hunter, ” again her eyes fell to his armor, “ Where did you get that? ”
