To Clarify
When Gilbert says he is an “alpha-born” it means that his parents are both alphas. Being an alpha/beta is the dominant gene and being an omega is the recessive. Both of Gilbert’s parents had one omega gene and were able to conceive an unlikely omega child. Therefore he is needed to mate with an alpha to continue the strict alpha bloodline of the Beilschmidt family.
Alongside this, when he says that Alpha Williams is “defective”, it means he is missing a trait. He is unable to pick up scents, doesn't possess aggressive behavior, and has never had a rut. This makes him undesirable to most everyone.
