Has anyone figured out what the whole 'team' thing is about? Anybody?

Multos in summa pericula misit venturi timor ipse mali.
He'd considered death many times during his life; not necessarily regarding it as some horrific and cataclysmic event, but a normal part of the process of life. It's kind of fascinating to him, though: how people go through all these motions and do it for the 'comfort of the dead'.
If only living people were treated with such reverence.
Hajime listens to the summons to the auditorium. He obeys, feeling almost in a daze the whole way there. There's nothing to worry about. There's no concerns, except perhaps for the note he received after the locks rattled. He couldn't claim that it didn't bother him at the time, but his thoughts are far from it now.
When the gases start invading the room amidst the hubbub of screeching students, Hajime barely even feels surprised. Perhaps, he thinks cynically, it's a side effect of compliance. He knows he doesn't belong here.
He only starts panicking once his vision goes spotty.

Peko listened to Hinata’s consolation for his compliment thoughtfully, humming lightly. She closed her eyes, deciding for the time being, to go along with it. She was told to act as a normal high school girl, those were her orders. Any normal girl would accept such compliments, right? And so, she managed something resembling a smile and focused her attentive ruby gaze ahead of them. “I feel honored, in that case.” She mentioned calmly, “Thank you, Hinata. I cannot say I hear such things about myself very often.”
She listened to his next words… not being exceptional in one specific field. Well, that didn’t mean it was the end of everything, was it? And he’d at least made it to Hope’s Peak, so that in itself was something of an accomplishment. She wasn’t quite sure what turns of events or decisions brought him there, but she could at least respect that.
"I have been training my entire life— I couldn’t say that I was born with the ability to wield my sword. I’ve had one by my side before I could even walk." She began, noting that they were on the verge of approaching the office a few yards ahead. She looked away, noticing then and there that she was sharing a bit more than she would’ve thought she would with someone she’d only just met. Hinata was truly a strange one, wasn’t he? "I train a lot. While I am a master in my skill, there are lots of things that I have never tried as a result. Things that I will never experience because of it. And so, for you to have a future and to still have the opportunities to discover a skill… there must be something special in that."
"No one does," Hinata says. "At least, not as far as I've seen." He admittedly is not the best person to mention anything about compliments to, being a bit bitter towards society. He, for one, does not believe that the people of the world keep to the rules of common courtesy. Though, he admits to himself, he's not a model citizen either.
While it's not the end of the world to be a master of none, it certainly feels like it. He's scored nicely on academic requirements (probably the only reason he was considered for Hope's Peak in the first place), but with talent, he's not one of the elite, talented people.
He's starting to understand why lots of people don't like school. It somehow manages to sap your pride in yourself.
"Maybe you're right. Maybe I'm just not positive enough. I don't know, though." Hinata's face moves into an unreadable expression.

It seems like I missed some stuff.
What happened, exactly? Did I fall asleep or something?
Did I fall into a coma? What happened?? It's much later than when I last remember...

….Oh, so maybe you’re a returner or something then, right?
Wow, what a show off. Heheh..Just playin’. I’m good at a lot of things too! Like singin’ and playin’ the guitar….And my looks. I’m pretty talented at swoonin’ the ladies. Heheh..
So…Uh….Hey, hey, you’re talented at everything, right? Then make up an interestin’ topic for us to talk about!
I'm not talented at everything; just many things. And, whatever floats your boat, I suppose.
Also, I would...but, I believe my time is up for now. See you around, perhaps.

….Uh…So you’re like…Just someone who likes to research on me then? Well, whatever. As long as you’re interested.
My name’s Leon Ku——
Ah, wait, my bad. You already know me. Uh, nice to meet you, Kamukura.
[ He gave an awkward smile before falling silent for a moment.]
…Uh…Do you need a tour around the school? I mean, you’re new, right?
…Hey, hey, speaking of being new, what’s your talent?
I've found my way around the school quite easily; I guess you could say I'm new. The interpretation is up to you.
New to you, perhaps, but not to the school at all.
Talent? I'm good at a lot of things. I'm typically known as a 'young hopeful', you might say.

….Huh..?
Do you know me…?
[ He looked at his clothes, wondering if someone stuck a name tag on him before realizing something. Then, he laughed.]
Ah—! You must be one of my old fans, yeah? Back when I played baseball? Dude, I’m over that life!! But it’s great to know people still appreciate me and all! Heheh…
Uh…Who are you though?
If that's what you'd like to think, then sure. Whatever you want. I am familiar with your work, though.

"I’m confident I won’t miss it. I’m quite perceptive, to be honest." Peko confirmed with a nod. She would find Hinata’s bag, if they couldn’t find it. She made that up in her head right then. But… why? It seemed strange, that being in the presence of someone she’d just met was making her feel more at ease than usual. If anything, her interactions with her classmates just brought her an immense feeling of discomfort. She was sharing something honest with him… Perhaps. Most of what she said was deceptive.
Peko shook her head lightly, letting her red gaze go downcast towards her feet as she walked. “A nice person, you say.” She mused lightly before giving a sigh and shutting her eyes. “You mustn’t place such optimistic judgement on someone you’ve only just met…” What kind of person was she? She… didn’t have the privilege of having a personality. A tool… why even ask herself that kind of question? But before she could let her sink even further into her thoughts, she caught Hinata’s self demeaning comment. Opening her eyes, she tilted her head to look at him carefully.
Everyone at the school was talented in some way or another, weren’t they? Was he the student chosen at random? But then, if she remembered correctly, the ‘good luck’ student in their grade had white hair and an oversized jacket. She pondered it for a few moments. Never a conversationalist or one to offer much comfort, she chewed lightly at her lower lip.
"Not being talented?" Peko decided to ask and see if he would elaborate further. She wasn’t quite sure how to counter it… But he provided less of an annoyance to her than most of the other students did in this school. He seemed… so friendly. It was strange for her to feel something other than indifference for someone… But then, it made her regard him in a better light than most. "You needn’t worry. We’re branded with titles when we enroll into this school… But like you yourself said, that doesn’t have to define you. You have a choice, where you can go from here." He was human. His words could apply to him, and not to her. Right?
"I don't doubt it," Hinata responds idly, deciding right then and there that he'd just made his first friend. This girl wasn't irritating at all, and to be honest, talking to her made him feel calm and serene inside, like unexpected things weren't going to happen; or, if they were, that he could at least be prepared.
"If you say so," he says. "I'm being honest, though. I'm not normally so eager to give out compliments, so...take it while you can, I guess," he suggests, but not in an unfriendly tone. She seems to go deep into thought after he makes his comment, and he wonders why.
Hinata had found out that he was on reserve course by eavesdropping. He hadn't even been making an attempt to do so. All he did was walk by the admissions office and hear about it. Needless to say, it'd somewhat discouraged him, as he'd submitted his best work to be accepted.
"Yeah, we are...I don't really seem to be the 'go-getter' type, though, or one who really is known for being exceptional in anything at all. Maybe I can, though. Maybe you're right. I've been thinking a lot about my future, so maybe I'll find talent in that."
one jump ahead.// [ leon + hinata ]
Leon grabbed the other’s hand and, with the help of the stranger, hauled himself up with a hiss. His hand stung and the floor swirled under him. His brain felt like it was ramming against his skull, blotches of white prominent in his line of vision. The redhead rested his head on the shoulder of the brunet boy whom, thankfully, just so happened to be taller than him.
"C-can guide me over to the boy’s dorm floor?" Leon asked, a strain in his voice. He screwed his eyes closed tight and tried to bear with the pain piercing through his torso, "My…dorm is the fi—fifth one down…" He could take care of himself from that point on. After all, it wasn’t like something like this hadn’t happened to Leon before.
Now that he wasn’t so bent on trying to get up, Leon noticed something. The shouting and banging of the gates had died down. Curiously, he opened his eyes and tried to crane his head so that he could see what was happening behind him. His neck and head protested, but he ignored it. It had died down to an eerie silence and, from what Leon could see from minimal vision, the thugs were still there. They gathered around each other, in a circle, discussing something. They would spare glances down at the school and an uneasy feeling bubbled up in Leon.
"L-Let’s go, quickly." Leon urged his fellow student. If they stayed any longer, surely, they would get into trouble. Not just with the teachers, but with the thugs. The wad of cash Leon had stolen was lying idly against the door. If predictions stood correct, the thugs were going to take it back. Little did Leon and Hinata know, but the thugs were making a critical decision between which one of them would take the risk of getting caught and hoping the fence and, more-ever, what kind of strategy they should use. Leon tugged on Hinata’s arm and pushed him forward with what little strength he had left, urging him once more to move on. He didn’t want to stick around to see what the results would be.
Hinata holds Leon to him, listening to his request. "I really think we should take you to the nurse's office..." he says. "That's too bad for you to care for on your own." His dizziness has stopped for the moment, and he proceeds forward slowly.
Hinata glances at the money propped up against the door. He fights a internal war, trying to decide whether to grab it or whether to leave it be. Probably leave it be, considering how the thugs had quieted down but were still crowded around. Regardless...Leon had obviously fought hard for the money, so he begins heading towards it.
"Alright, alright, we'll go," he says, grouchily turning around yet again to now head the opposite direction. "Do you think we should leave the money there, or...?" he asks, stumbling forward slightly. Surely it'd bring up questions.
one jump ahead.// [ leon + hinata ]
Hinata’s voice is a dull, airy thing in his hearing as the senses of his body are spiked in pain. Leon tries to stand up again and slips onto the ground, colliding with the stained flooring. He let out a shaky breath and opened his eyes to gaze at the stranger. His vision is blurry and somewhat unfocused but, hopefully, he’ll pull through.
"Th—they shouldn’t be able to—to get on this property…." Leon’s voice is barely above a whisper and strained. "The fine’s too large…" The brutes outside the fence are threatening to beat him inside out, that he shouldn’t show that damned face of his back in the city or else he’ll be begging to die. Particularly, their hissing, mouths filled with venom, that if they find them in the city once more, they’ll mangle up so bad he’ll beg for death instead, that he’ll have some permanent damage on him. God forbid Leon wanted to know what they would do then. But for now, he tunes out their voices and tries his best to stand up as another coughing fit overcomes him.
He ended up flopping back onto the ground again, his limbs too worn out and his body experiencing the outcome of being past its limit. In the end, as much as it hurts his pride, Leon glances at Hinata, ignoring how tears freely stung his eyes from the overload of pain.
"Mind helping a guy up…?" He grunted, holding an outstretched arm to the brunet. His palm is horribly cut and the blood collecting around it is beginning to dry uncomfortably. "I-I’ll explain later…promise..!" For now, he had to get to a place more comfortable than the harsh marble flooring of the entrance hall.
His vision is spiraling and his head is pounding mercilessly from that one huge spot of pain on its back. Hinata suddenly begins doubting that he'll even stay awake long enough to watch for 'him'...he hears voices on the outskirts of his eyes (he thinks, but who knows whether they actually exist or not), but chooses to ignore them.
"That's great for them," he murmurs, half-sarcastically. He doesn't think he's felt pain like this. Regardless, the other was pretty banged up; more than Hinata himself was, for sure. He forces himself upward, balancing precariously on a hand. He quickly puts the other hand behind him too and shoves himself up, slowly moving his legs and standing.
Hinata stops feeling as angry about the situation once he sees the sorry look of the other. He thrusts an arm forward for Leon to take, eventually just grabbing his hand and starting to pull him up. He tries glancing at the door, but his vision is still uncooperative.
