“you had me at hello...”
Discovering the fact you have diabetes can be overwhelming. Although it is life-altering, it is beneficial to take a more calm approach. As in learning more about diabetes. Other than the generalization of it. Which is people believing that they have diabetes cause they’re fat or eat too many sugary goods. This is not the case.
Type 1 Diabetes (Yes, there are different types!)
Type 1 is when a person’s body doesn’t produce insulin. Now, insulin plays a major role in our system because it regulates our glucose levels. The insulin is produced by the pancreas, which then stores the glucose for energy in the cells. Though in the case of a Type 1 diabetic, that is where the problem is. Without glucose you don’t have energy for your body. This usually happens to adolescents.
 Type 2 Diabetes (Most common.)
This type of diabetes is when the body experiences insulin resistance. This is a condition when the body is resistant to insulin when it trying to regulate blood sugar levels. The condition happens when insulin isn’t effective when transporting glucose to cells. Therefore the pancreas produces more insulin, but the body does not react to it. The glucose builds up in the bloodstream. Furthermore that is why the diabetic has high blood sugar which is also known as hyperglycemia.
