How did a victim of the sex trafficking machine go to jail for killing her abuser?

As I was scrolling down my feed on my instagram page @sayanyao I came across this story of Cyntoia Brown. I honestly couldn’t understand why a 16 year old got sentenced after she had been repeatedly abused for so long. Cyntoia got kidnapped, raped and abused against her own will so how could someone possibly see this as a crime when all she did was free herself from such misery.
I understand the Law is the Law but let’s be honest here, if this was your child or your sibling; would you actually consider this a crime? I would’ve killed him too and let me explain why. I would’ve killed this monster “cut throat” for drugging me, abusing me and selling me to men against my will especially at the age of 16.
If I had the opportunity to kill him on the spot, I definitely would’ve without even thinking twice because just imagine going through such misery every single day and not knowing what to expect from all these different men. Now, if Cyntoia has no way of proving the fact that she did this as self defense then what does that mean for mothers or fathers who find their child being raped and kills the rapist? Is that also considered murder? I would consider that JUSTICE!!!
Why? Once again, because we already know the Justice system doesn’t work that way and the rapist will be freed after a couple of months. So why not take matters into my own hands? How could you not react with such anger?
We need Justice for Cyntoia Brown and many others out here who are just like Cyntoia Brown!!
