Don’t wanna add any fuel to the fire here but didn’t it start out as an Asian thing, particularly Japan? Nail painting originally started off as an Egyptian and Chinese thing. With both cultures wearing shades that corresponded accordingly to their place in the class hierarchy. Nail objects etc were brought over from japan, particularly from the “Lolita” followers. Also, exceptionally long nails started out in places like India and Indonesia,often worn on dancers and performers as a symbol of eccentric beauty and those portraying goddesses etc. So yeah sure we can talk appropriation but maybe check your facts first. I think you’ll find most cultures have origins in nail art.
