So just now I was sitting with Travis telling him how perfect he is and how no matter what he does he’s going to pass this class and then he just stared at me and there was silence. But like ten minuets after that I looked over and this is basically what went down....

Me: What do you think it’s lie to be green?

Travis: Well I feel like it wouldn’t be pleasant. Like I feel like people would just think you’re ugly 

Me: But Idina Menzal doesn’t look ugly

Travis: Right but....

Me: Yeah she’s perfect you’re right

Travis: But also I feel like people would always think you were sick

Me: Right but in Once Upon a Time their whole thing was she wasn’t born green. She turned green from the jealousy she had for her sister. Like they kept telling her not to be jealous and yet she was so she turned green

Travis: Oh

So basically I just think it’s funny how one character that no one was suppose to like inspired and entire book and a Broadway musical. No one like the villain and yet here we are. It’s actually quite amazing what can happen when you simple change perspective. It makes you wonder what all the other villains in other movies background is. In my opinion I think it would be easy and ten times more interesting to make a whole series based on villains.

Okay you see that hand? You see that hand right there? It’s calling for help. It needs to be pulled out of the water. That’s how I feel right about now. Like I actually might just submit 15 pages of Wicked fanfic. To be honest I would have already had that done if that was the assignment. Literally I’m a mess right about now. Like I’m not sure how this semester went by that quick. Honestly I’m probably going to get a 50% tops. That’s not at all an exaggeration. The more we actually talk about it the more I keep hearing things that make me think I have no clue what I’m doing. I am very worried low key.

Okay I know this is going to sound like I’m just making things up but I’m actually in love with Idina Menzel. She was in one of my favorite musicals (Rent), my favorite kids movie (Enchanted), my favorite TV show (Glee), like slay me Idina. She is just all around a good actress/performer. So reading Wicked was so much easier when I was visualized her. Honestly I know I already said this but like... I want green sin. Granted it probably won’t look as beautiful on me as it does on her but still I think it’d be a lot more interesting. I don’t really know I just think it’s a great concept and it’s a great book and probably an amazing musical and I want to see it.

So after I had actually finished the book I realized I had forgotten to do the tumblr posts. But for some odd reason I want to be green. I want to literally be the beautiful shade of emerald green with glorious black hair. I have always felt like the villain. Like growing up as a “brat” or whatever people have always called me I’ve always just wanted the villains to win. The Little Mermaid? Ursula was my role model. Like I would rather be a fat octopus human thing than a mermaid. Ursula was magic and helped people they just needed to give her something. Like you can’t even tell me I won’t look like Ursula when I’m older. I’m down for some purple skin man. Green or purple bro. I’m down. Like I have always felt like a villain and it’s so nice to read a book that I can relate to on such a personal level

This paper....

This paper...IS A JOKE. Every time I go to write it, at least once a day, I start doing other things. Like I’ll go to do it and boom I see some food. Or I’ll just being chilling trying to do it and magically I hear BoJack Horseman calling my name. I cannot do it at all. Like I’m honestly trying at this point. I want to succeed, I really do. But for some reason I can’t apply myself enough to actually sit there and do it. So this is going to be a hot ass mess.

The language

Okay so I know i swear a little...okay maybe like a lot but in my defense it’s just how i express my extreme dislike for whatever we’re talking about. But the language in Wicked is just.... wosh. Like to be honest there are some things written that are just so brutal looking. Like I sit there reading it and it’s like offensive to look at.  I enjoy the book but there are just these parts that I sit there like lol okay settle down. Like a part of me really wants to type them out just so people know what I’m talking about. But to be honest I really don’t want to simply because it’s so cruel looking. As much as I enjoy the book it’s just a little harsh.

Well shit

So I finally decided to get my shit together and start reading for this final project and I realized something from like page one. I’m the wicked witch of the west... Like they thought she was gonna be a boy, they thought i was gonna be a boy. She herd bitches talking shit and I hear bitches talk shit. I picked this book knowing damn well I could relate to the ugly sister and the person no one likes but I didn’t realize it was gonna be my life story... No one better fucking throw water on me.

You want me to be apart of a tribe? Here you go man. I have friends. All different colors, races, genders, sexuality’s and we as a unit are the tribe of Misfit Toys. Without my tribe I’d probably be long dead by now. These jerk faces are who made me  who I am today. Everything and everyone I care about is in my tribe. Some of them don’t even know the other exists. I have so many different people in my tribe I couldn’t even get a picture of all of them. But hey our instructor wants a story so here you go man.

So once upon a time a young white woman and a young black man decided to not use a condom and had a child they thought would be a boy. Seriously the doctor told them I was a boy, the baby shower was blue and they had all boy clothes, my name was seriously gonna be like Roy or Xavior or some shit idk man my parents are on a whole other level. Anyway they got stuck with a girl. Little did they know this little girl would end up to be happy even without both of them gone. The father left and to this day he tells her he wishes it had worked out differently. The mom started hanging out with the wrong crowd and got very into drugs. Her boyfriend beat her and all the little girl could do was watch and cry an beg it to stop. The mom died eventually of a heroin overdose. That little girl went into depression. Crying herself to sleep every night and always wishing she had never even been born. But then she met her tribe. People who’d always be there from all walks of life. People who to this day still come and go out of her life but yet she still loves them all. That girl is me. And thanks to all those jackasses I call friends, I’m gonna be just fine in my little tribe of misfit toys.

Querencia

Dear Kreinbring,

I am so sorry but I must inform you that I do not have a Querencia. There’s no place that brings back good memories and there’s no place I wish I could say I go with my family every year and enjoy myself. I’m sorry to inform you that no there’s no cabin in the woods my family visits. There’s no vacation we take every summer as a family to a lake and bond. I don’t get attached to any physical place because who knows how long it’ll be there. I don’t know what to draw you. I haven’t done this post for the same reason I haven’t done the tribe one, I don’t know what to tell you. I can’t tell you things about my childhood simply because I don’t remember it and I don’t want to. Feel free to give me a giant zero on this because I got nothing for you. But please keep in mind that just because I don’t come from happiness and sunshine and families that love each other, doesn’t mean I’ll never have one. So yes right now I don’t have a Querencia and I’m sorry but one day, maybe tomorrow maybe twenty years from now, I will find one.

Okay so I’m starting to grasp certain things about the book. Like that the poems are probably sung or chanted. Or that the book itself is a ceremony and the reason it’s in such a weird format is because that’s Silko refuses to conform to the American way by doing something basic like chapters. This woman is actually a genius.

We sit there talking about how they don’t really do anything but bitch and I’m just like… exhibit A. Literally all she does is complain and occasionally she takes pictures of herself. I don’t really want to insult her because lets be real she’s sexier than I’ll ever be (even though it’s all fake) and she’s richer but like what does she do? Like what exactly does she do to positively affect the world? I’m sorry I do love the show (simply because I enjoy knowing I’m not that pathetic) but she doesn’t really do anything. Honestly she’s only famous because her father got off OJ Simpson and her stepfather is an Olympian. So yeah I need her to step up her game.

Not gonna lie I have no clue what this book is about. However one of my “aunts” read it and said it was amazing. Also when I worked at the library I shelved this book almost every day so I’m just gonna go ahead and assume it has to be some what decent. I really wanted to read it but Wicked is just something I think would be a better fit/read.

So I’ve been debating reading The Color Purple. I really really wanted to read it however I talked to Kreinbring about it and he told me what it was about. The thing is this book has a lot about being ugly in it and I’ve always been told I was ugly. Not gonna lie I get depressed easy and considering there’s no sun out I don’t really want to read about rape and being ugly. Not that sun helps but it’s just easier to not want to cry about. I want to read a book that makes me interested without making me want to blame Ap Lit for my depression.

Okay so I hope everyone judges me for this but I was actually going to read Twilight. Think of how popular this book was. It turned into five movies, graphic novels, posters, bed sets, jewelry, everything you can think of. I honestly really did want to read it but I just had a feeling this would not work out in my favor. I have no clue why but red flags were going off when I was considering it. Even though I’ve herd nothing but positive things about it it just wasn’t a good idea.

Okay so this really messes up my life. Like the job of a handmaid is to be raped and like, I’m not okay with this, It makes me want to throw up. I don’t really like the fact that everyone in the book treats them so horribly considering that they get raped constantly.  In fact as I read the book I got more and more uncomfortable because they talk about rape being okay and how it was their fault. I actually feel horrible for them even though its just a book I feel like it has this undertone that is still present today. I feel like even today rape is supposedly the woman’s fault. That fact right there? That’s why I’m never having children. 1 in 5 women get raped. If I had a daughter and that happened to her I would never forgive myself.
