HELLSING: ULTIMATE 2006 | Episode 8
[ Picked this piece back up after...........months...........of having it in my gallery, just awaiting my return........
I'll probably mess around with this more tomorrow because I will DEFINITELY find something I don't like. But for now I think it's good enough to post. It may or may not also end up on my Redbubble. I also sell prints outside of Redbubble, if anyone's interested (I can make the signature smaller lol).
Let me know what you think! ]
Reblogging from one of my other accounts!
Ayyyyyy
Long time no see. Just came to say I have a Redbubble account and some sick Corpse Husband merch! https://www.redbubble.com/shop/ap/112384658?asc=u
Stay tuned!
This has been sitting around for actual months! Oops :D

When my people make me feel really bad and upset about things i have no control over, i like to come and read the tags you guys post on my art. Like, i maybe a forgetful screw up, but atleast something i did had made some one else smile
You are a lovely presence in this world and your art is amazing ❤️ don't let other people's opinions affect how you feel about your life. They don't know your life with the depth and nuance that you do - their views are shallow and not to be taken seriously. You've got this! You are in no way a screwup for making perfectly human mistakes or for being forgetful. You're only human, and it can happen to anyone. Never forget that your life has has value and a zing that only you can create! Go forth and prosper, friend. :)
Choke me like you hate me but you love me
Reblogs are HIGHLY appreciated!!

I'm not a huge fan but I know a couple people who are and this is for them. :D Luckily I was able to order some cheap prints of this recently! It'll be my first ever artwork to make into a real print, how exciting!!

A Twitter thread of mine that I think some of you may find useful here as well! I’ll update this periodically when I update the Twitter thread.
oh hey new guide thinggg~ some basics on how to practice! there’s SO much I could add to this, so it’s just the basics :O
short (kind of): there’s more to practice than doing something repeatedly, it’s also learning new things, problem solving, and honest critique. Each of those is its own skill…also be nice to yourself!
Building a visual library is important too! Having a stockpile of images isn't going to help much (at least that's what I think, everyone is different) but rather when you DO look at things, try to apply all the knowledge you have to that subject (lighting/shading/colors/anatomy/lining/etc) to reinforce things look like in reality to apply it to your own style. Honestly, just like learning a language, it can even be helpful to just sit back and watch/listen to other artists' advice (not all of their advice is always correct or the best but still). Watch what they do, how they explain their process -- it can take away a lot of the mystery behind how to draw or paint or ink your pieces! This goes for literally any medium, digital or otherwise.
Go forth, artistic children!! ୧(ಠ◇ಠ)୨
I’m calling her finished! This piece is far from perfect, but I’m content. :D This was more of an experiment than anything else and I think I learned some things from this. Simplifying, how to better use my digital tools, etc…
I did use some of your ideas, @888-rising! I did a lot of back and forth with the planes of the face but I just found that I didn’t like those shapes that much, and for this piece I do very much like the “tin lighting” so I kept that too. :D I can definitely imagine where some of the lighting would taper off in a more realistic or painterly style, but this suits me for now. I really appreciate your help!
The lighting looks amazing!
Thank you! (*´˘`*)
The quality of this one isn’t too good because... Well, I didn’t intend it to be. This was an experimental piece for me! But I thought I might post it anyway. I did this a few days ago... last week or... something xD idk now. It looks good from a distance though! Just don’t get close to the pixels I guess? Hahahah
This is like a “redraw” of that scene in ATLA, y’all who’ve seen it know what episode it is. I won’t spoil it for any newcomers! <3 I was trying to practice lighting and shapes and just how to better use my digital program in general.
Katara is just great. I loved her when I was growing up and she’s even better than I remember now that I’ve rewatched the series!
Anyway hope u like ( ´ ∀ `)ノ~ ♡
In relation to my Inquisitor Kyoshi artwork:
[I’m posting this on its own since I’m not sure if people can see that I reblogged it from this post]
“I learned something during my time, in my world,” the painted woman stated, in quiet severity. Her gloved hand clutched the hilt of a small dagger.
“Only justice can bring peace.”
As if to mark the statement, she thrust the dagger into the War Table. Leliana, standing on the other side, silently observed. Dim fire’s light played soft reflections in the metal of the blade, and warmed Kyoshi’s stone cold, resolute expression. It was clear she was still angry, still confused - she didn’t want to be here. Yet here she stood, resolving herself to leadership. Leliana pondered her reasoning, but for Kyoshi herself, the matter was simple. It came down to duty.
Duty to her loved ones back home above all. With any luck, fixing this world’s problems might bring her back to her own. Back to what was real.
But then, what if there was no way back home? What would her reason be to lead an army? The death and devastation she had witnessed from the Conclave to Haven, she supposed, should be reason enough; yet the aching she felt for home left her in a state of limbo.
She chose to stay, simply because she must. Without the Inquisition, there was nowhere else. No purpose.
“I concur,” Leliana chimed in, acknowledging the sentiment as her own.
“Little can be done if one does not take action. I am glad we are of the same mind.”
Her statement ended in a smile just at the corners of her mouth, but Kyoshi did not stir from her focused position.
“I still have no idea if I can access the Avatar state like this. I have no idea if I can contact my past lives, or draw on their power. From what I’ve learned, it sounds like you need an Avatar,” Kyoshi paused to collect her thoughts, and continued with a sigh.
“But I’m not sure I can be one in this state. Whatever ”magic" this is,“ she continued, presenting her marked hand, ”I feel it has corrupted my connection to the spirit world. If what we learned about Corypheus is true, I fear I won’t be of much use in the upcoming battle.“
"Nonsense.” Leliana was quick to respond.
“Your harbor power like nothing we have ever seen, Inquisitor. You must understand,” there was an abrupt stop before she continued. It seemed an idea had come to her.
“You have taken time to speak with Solas, our resident expert on the Fade, no? I’ve theorized that if he can connect you to our "spirit world”, you may no longer have to fear your broken connection. Between him and Dagna, we should be able to come up with a viable solution.“
Yeeeeeah so it was late when I wrote this and I’m on mobile rn, this is all I could come up with for now ^^; it seems like this could make a really good fanfic! If anyone picks up this idea, do let me know so I can see everyone’s works and ideas! :D
I posted this on reddit yesterday and it did pretty well so I thought I'd post it here too! Maybe I can keep my art blog here from dying lol
Avatar Kyoshi would make an excellent Inquisitor! I feel like she would get along well with Cassandra and especially Leliana for her "I do what must be done" attitude, and maybe Solas as well for that reason + he's knowledgeable about spirits. What do you guys think? ^_^

Some constructive criticism for this WIP portrait of Azula?
I (think) part of my problem here is that my laptop display incorrectly values everything, like... on my display everything is lighter/brighter than on pretty much ANY other display (other computers, phones, that sort of thing).
Things I am already aware of: I know certain areas are pixelated but that’s an easy fix ^_^ AND I’m aware I haven’t lit the hair or clothes yet.
Really what I want to know, is how to fix the lighting behind her (does it need to be brighter for your display? I really don’t trust mine sometimes) and also, I really like the shape of the light on the right side of her face and I wanna keep it, but how can I make it look better? I feel like something is askew there, and I think there needs to be a light source to match what’s hitting her face, but I’m not even sure where to put it.
I didn’t have a reference for the lighting unfortunately :( I know I should have one ideally, but I couldn’t find what I wanted and I figured I could try exercising my knowledge a bit. Any advice would be really helpful!
Dude making the switch from traditional to digital was SO HARD!
HOWEVER. I found that mixing both into my casual art routine (I’m not shooting to be a pro in the art world, this is all just self-gratification for me...unless 👀 who knows? hahah). I feel you on the planes too, it seems like every other face planes tutorial and figure head is different x’D You can never tell with these things.
I got into art the same way though! I used to make these awful anime-esque drawings of my faves (mostly Yugioh), put down art for writing, and then picked up art again like...5 years ago? So here I am!
But yeah, if graphic design and college art is where you want to go I suggest you try getting into the digital world... Not every college is going to care if you have digital experience, but graphics design will, specifically xD Best of luck to you! I’ve worked on Azula some more and I’m calling it done. It’s prolly not my best work but I’m learning with every new piece 💪
