The 5 Principles of Reiki - Body, Mind & Ki
To practice and understand Reiki healing, Reiki principles are fundamentals. Practitioners should not forget that it was and still is a mighty skill, not for just healing, but for enhancing personal and spiritual growth. Even though there are no particular rules or beliefs to enjoy the unlimited benefits of Reiki, to get the most from your Reiki practice, focus highly on Reiki principles, whether you are giving or receiving the experience.
There are five Reiki Principles that originated in Japan in the early 1800s and were adopted by Dr. Mikao Usui, the father of Reiki. Though you find many organizations or schools for Reiki courses, the initial teaching techniques came from Mikao Usui's Reiki principles. The five Reiki principles are:
Just for Today, Do Not Anger
People feel angry for many reasons and it can be transformative. Do not suppress your reaction while getting angry, but try to recognize what makes you angry. May you are trapped or get hurt by others, or you are afraid of your safety. Understand that anger is a waste of energy and you lose to take any constructive actions being angry. If you are angry with someone, try to think from his point of view and enhance your forgiving nature by considering it as his mistake. It is not possible to control your anger overnight, but your practice and perseverance can help you explore your anger and control your reactions. “Just for today do not anger” principle changes your thoughts and behaviors gradually.
Just for Today, Do Not Anger
Worries are assumptions that do not happen most of the time. Worries do not help you to settle down an issue. From childhood, people are taught how to compete and struggle to succeed. The fact is worrying drains out energies that your body needs to deal with insecurities, trauma, and misfortune. So, take actions to deal with your worries. Believe in “for just today, let it go”. Worries are the effects of past events or fear of tomorrow. Reiki healing teaches how to develop your belief in the universe and just think for today.
Just for Today, Honor and Thank Everyone for Their Blessings
Kindness and respect for you and others is the preliminary point for any spiritual journey. Accepting, embracing, and learning how to thank people for their blessings is the first step towards your happiness. Try writing a gratitude list every day, listing things like your health, having an affectionate family and friends, living with freedom, having a cover over your head, food for your hunger, and clothes on your back. Try to imagine how life could be if you don’t have the things you have now and be thankful to the universe for those. You will consider yourself a fortunate one after practicing some sessions of Reiki healing.
Just for Today, Stay Honest
People are connected with each other and, thus, working with integrity is imperative to have inner peace. Practice honesty by being honest with your employer, customers, and others. Honesty is contagious. Once you start to maintain it strictly with others, it will change people with its mighty power. Just for today, stay honest with the people you deal with every day. It is the fourth principle of spiritual healing.
Just for Today, Show Gratitude to Every Living Thing
Lives become so commercial that even you forget to thank people for what you have from them. Show your gratitude for each living being around you. It can change your life and the entire universe with positive energy. Showing gratitude is an important Reiki principle that helps you think that life is a blessing. Appreciate and acknowledge it by showing your gratitude for it.
