Mini Crochet Star Applique FREE Pattern
I was decorating some Christmas cards recently and I wanted to attach some crochet star appliques. The free crochet patterns that I found online (http://blog.mohumohu.com/post/63570888723/amigurumi-star-pattern and http://habitualhomebody.com/how-to-crochet-a-star/) were great but too big for the card.
Starting with 5 sc in a magic ring, I experimented with different combinations of stitches until I got the shape that I wanted. The pattern that I used is below:
Each star measures about 3.5 cm (1.4 in) across and takes about 5 minutes to make. The pattern is written in US crochet abbreviations. This is the first crochet pattern that I’ve written up in-depth so feel free to send me a message if you find anything is confusing!
Materials
yellow worsted weight yarn (I used Michael’s Loops & Thread Impeccable Yellow)
2.00 or 2.55 mm crochet hook
Pattern
1st round: 5 sc in magic ring, sl st in 1st sc

-Start with a magic ring (this is an awesome tutorial: http://www.allaboutami.com/post/6053699559/magiccircle),
-Crochet 5 sc into the ring, and insert crochet hook into the first sc and sl st
-(beginning in middle picture) *Insert hook back into the first sc, make 1 sc, make 1 dc, make 1 sc, make 1 sl st*
-Repeat these stitches *(1 sc, 1 dc, 1 sc, 1 sl st)* for each next 4 sc
-After you have finished all of the corners, pull the yarn through the last st and then to the back of the star.
-Cut the yarn ends to the desired length or make a knot in the back with them
-Pinch the corners of the star as needed.
