          “I’m cool.” Simon murmured, avoiding the gaze of the older man for a moment. Maybe he wanted to compose himself, he wasn’t sure. But eventually he met Tony’s gaze, exhaling. It was too soon to know for sure, but if the sting was anything to go by, he’d have quite the bruise over his cheek by the morning. 

Part of him was disappointed in himself. By then he was used to being the normal one - the one without a superpower, or something out of the ordinary going for him - but having to be defended from someone with nothing more than fists and a knife felt pretty.. shitty. 

He’d been taught how to take care of himself, of course, and he hadn’t been completely helpless, but they had still caught him off-guard. Simon didn’t like the feeling of that. “It’s nothing, it’s just.. I guess they had me, for a second. Nothing you couldn’t stop.”
