The internet entices people to believe they all know the truth (especially those who never face any real hardship esp Americans and those born with $$$… as if it would be impossible to imagine someone else is just on their own path exploring the content. Everything must IMMEDIATELY reference the current zeitgeist which is dishonest and a privileged perspective.
This makes is slightly harder to get to know people in real life for me, TBH, as they all come with the presupposition of some history and or alternate history. The most curious gets the scold from others for what appears to be misunderstanding, when the real goal is to understand the motives beneath. It gets treated as ignorance, no delve deeper, no question about your humanity. Just “you fOkin disagree mate? You suck.”
You’re no better than anyone who you say you detest
Or are we all supposed to be sheeple? What was it like to exist as a human a few hundred years ago without this intoxicating. That is hard to argue, actually. Because societies have always tried to control the narrative, and the internet ssrgusbly makes in easier to control a mind… different times, same intellectual hassle. It is the path of least resistance to learn into your pre-suppositions about life… not the strong choice IMP
I just watched Titanic.. a rant about class coming from (a certified poor, growing up like that but hating it) thinking about how they treated Jack. I experience pity in my daily life, when I expect some sort of pat on the back. I’ll be honest, I believe life is about experiencing the variety. But when I open up to friends that I slept on the floor for months as a result of having nothing and being super focused on my business, they look at me with pity.. I chose to end up there. I chose to bet it all that one time when I was 23 years old. It’s not a competition, but I’ve had $40,000 staring back at me in the bank and felt incomplete,. and I’ve still made the realization that “money isn’t anything, it’s all about developing as a character.”
When everyone gripes at me about my complaints on the poor people. I’ve been there. Trust me, they treat money like God. You’re telling me I’m more immoral than you for hating a way of life that YOU have NEVER experienced??? These people will fuck you over because they have no morals, too. It isn’t just “the rich” my stepfather stole my electronics as a kid to “scrap for copper”
A lacking of resource doesn’t convey a sense of morality.
I look at myself as someone in pursuant of further strengths. “Oh buddy, you want to attend a business networking conference halfway across the state that’s too expensive for you at the time. so you choose to sleep on the airport floor?” Yes.. if I “acted my wage” I would never be able to search for a better future and I would be such a pansy that a hotel room and a fresh bottle of water becomes a requirement for travel.
Don’t look at me with pity for being more capable than you, don’t take my lack of complaining for peace. My mind is on fire and I choose to not poison the atmosphere. I just want better for myself
You should not pity me for choosing that experience. You should be an all that I have the mental fortitude to endure any slight inconvenience if it means being present in a place I want to be. Your weak ass would still be complaining that there’s no frequent AC in the airport corridor.
When Jack professes to the group of wealthy folks at dinner that “I don’t need a plan, I got here on a lucky ticket of poker and life is actually about experience” they mock him. Even though it is unfounded.. Hockley masks being pampered with being a hard MF.
IDGAF where I have to sleep in order to accomplish what I set out to.. your weak ass would allow a slight inconvenience to throw your plans for a week. I just mean to say that.. the scale has seem to slide for most in this world.. and I also recognize life should not be this way. I should enjoy a comfortable life with good nutrition. That should be a possibility for me
Look in the mirror before trying to look at me with pity.

The mind is very malleable, the brain is what they call ‘plastic’ meaning the system is changeable. For each action requiring the firing of neurons, the grooves along that pathway deepen. This is how your brain works. Whether you are practicing a piano song or having thoughts from a certain POV
In this post, I make the case that:
You need to start saying: “I’m going to choose not to accept your doomerism worldview, bro.”
Just conversing with people nowadays (25 Years old, Gen Z, New England USA) feels like dodging landmines of bad vibes. Yeah there are a lot of global conflicts going on (tell me a time when there wasn’t?), and I’m sure you’re more aware of XYZ because of the internet and the ghastly algorithmic media feed experiment going on right now. We’re more aware than ever, but also I would make the case that we are less barbaric on the whole as we’ve ever been as a species.
The world still has its bad though, but also keep in mind most people (the vast majority) are good actors. Most people WANT to build good things, relationships and experiences. Life is about growth, experience, love, joy.
The world is actually presenting the best time to be alive for a human in all of our history. We have the best comforts, the best available nutrition (not to say all have access or all take advantage), can communicate and travel anywhere around the world faster than ever before, we just sent 4 humans off towards the moon again.
Don’t come at me every second of the day with “we COULD have these resources but the elites are hoarding it.” That’s true, I agree with you. But you don’t have to let them ruin your human experience, since everything you gripe about that isn’t an ideal or optimal situation wasn’t even a possibility 500 years ago. Pick your battles and adopt perspective. This is how I choose to think on it, to offer me the chance to be grateful of life.
I guess what im saying is there are 8 billion of us humans, and the point of life (to me) is about proliferation and to learn more about ourselves. There are single issue humans, you could devote your whole life to a modern social issue, but you don’t have to. There are plenty of humans out there doing the work.
Always remember too the best move may be to do nothing. I would say it’s easier to mess things up quickly. Everyone in history thought they were the good guy. I like to keep the quote around “do gooders are closest to evil.” I distrust those who make deep claims about moving the tides of society when politics is also a deep popularity contest.
On the science: We understand so much of the universe and can alter genetic code. We just took a digital photograph of the earth from 30,000 miles away (pictured below)
Some people, when you tell them this, refuse to believe that we should be happy about progress and will tell you “All of the media I’m seeing is telling me this handful of 1,000 or so humans in the elite class is making my human experience bad.” Yea, every nail needs to be hammered when you view everything through these very finite lenses. Money controls some things. You view money as god and so these people will always have power over you.
In the context of living in a hierarchical society, it’s always been the case, we find structure and we name leaders. I think we are best governed in small groups with limited restrictions, enough so prevent violence and crime from those who lack the morals to self govern. Necessary. And also necessary we take care of each other, which has always been a capacity within us. The oldest evidence for human compassion being in the 30,000 year old fossil of the woman with a broken femur which had been broken and then repaired (seemingly) by others in her group.
That’s what I’m talking about! That’s who WE are.
I prefer to think of the last 10,000 years comparatively. Can one have a good flourishing life? Yes.
It isn’t all power dynamics. It isn’t all about what the perceived elites are doing. What makes them elite? You are human, no less than them. Sure the world has bad actors, but what do they have to do with your own story.
Some people no matter the context will try and suck you into their doomerism. It’s very important you say “No, I’m choosing to think optimistically and be the light that I’d like to see in the world.”
I will be the good in my community. I will not be greedy. I will be honest and build.
Have a great day 😁
