While you are happily taking these tours, also start planning for your trips once the restrictions are lifted. Here’s how you can do it
Jot down your travel plan
Make a detailed itinerary of the places you want to visit, experiences that you want to have there.
Pin all the places you want to visit
You can go as wishful as you want, pin all the places that you want to visit on the world map. In fact, this is the time to make that travel wishlist.
Plan for places that bust your stress with their outdoor nature, scenic beauty with lush forests, gurgling rivers and serene lakes. Our top recommendations would be Sikkim, Meghalaya and Nagaland. Nothing beats the beauty of the North East!
Having said that, enough with the planning!
You don’t have to be productive all the time! Lockdown frees up valuable time to properly take care of ourselves, fully relax and switch off. Allocate part of your day to doing the things that make you feel good. For some people, this might be getting fresh air, practicing yoga or doing a workout. For others, it’s cooking a hearty meal, reading a book or taking a bath.
Here are some of the things you can try out to de stress. It will do wonders for your mental health and keep you feeling strong and motivated
Get outside. Lay down some blankets in your backyard or string up hammocks, bring music and spend the day outdoors.
Have a picnic. Pack all your favourite snacks and drinks and have a long lunch or dinner. You can enjoy your backyard or even have it in your living room.
Watch the sunset. For an added atmosphere, add some outdoor lighting and indulge in sunset drinks till nightfall.
Play an outdoor sport. Get some tennis or squash racquets and hold a tournament in your backyard. Basketball is also hours of fun.
Join an online yoga or exercise class. Exercise releases feel-good endorphins. And when there is so much bad news at the moment, it is a good idea to get those endorphins up and an opportunity to get fit. You can find free classes on YouTube. One of the more popular ones is Yoga with Adriene. Further, Yoga International offers a free trial of their yoga courses.
Have a dance party in your living room. Another way to release endorphins and get fit is to dance. Put on some music and dance the night away. You’re on holiday! Additionally, join an Instagram dance party. Mark Kanemura, Lady Gaga’s former backup dancer hosts regular live dance parties. You can also find other dance parties on hashtag #LiveDanceParty.
Start a small garden. Herbs, flowers or vegetables, it’s merely about the joy in watching things grow! And if you do get vegetables, it’s a bonus! Make sure you buy seeds when out shopping or even better, get some seedlings from a nursery.
Take this opportunity to disconnect from the chaos of the outside world and reconnect with yourself. Stay active, eat healthy and be kind to yourself. It will strengthen your immune system, do wonders for your mental health and keep you feeling strong and motivated during this strange time.
Happy quarantine everybody!
