Brought some Black pride to the gym this morning. Definitely got some odd stares but also some smiles :) remember friends, being pro-black doesn't mean you're anti-white. ✊🏾 #khfitfam #iifymgirls #skinnytofit #girlswholift #marleytwists #HellaBlackHellaProud #problack #blacklivesmatter #protectivestyles #habesha #khwinterchallenge #blackgirlmagic #myblackisbeautiful #havanatwists

Would I/you be this brave?
Number 24 is Zaevion Dobson. He was a high school football player in Knoxville, Tennessee. (That’s his brother Zack next to him)
Earlier this week he dove on top of three girls to shield them from a random shooting. None of the girls was injured. But unfortunately Zaevion was killed.
One of the people he saved was a young girl named Faith. And she later tweeted:
“He died laying on top of me. I love him. That’s my brother man. Rest easy Zae. I’LL NEVER FORGET YOU.”
The shooting happened when three men drove up and just starting firing away.
The Police Chief got choked up as he talked about it. He said:
“Unfortunately, they picked a random group of young men and women who were just hanging out and trying to prepare to celebrate the holiday.”
Zaevion was only 15. And yet his first thought was to save others. That to me is amazing.
Zaevion was also a mentor to others through the 100 Black Men of Greater Knoxville chapter. And now he’s gone. For absolutely no reason.
What is wrong with people? What kind of person drives up and just starts shooting at a group of random people?
As Zaevion’s brother tweeted:
“Really man. Why u have to take him away from me.”
It’s the same question a lot of people are asking right now.
Retweet to spread the word please. It would mean alot

Did Edwards tell you that she’s ok? Yes. Ok, then don’t give her the extra work of having to make you feel good about it.
how would you deal with potential ISIS agents hiding amongst all the refugees?
The same way we would deal with potential ISIS agents already living in western countries; by ensuring that no one is ostracized, marginalized, or isolated from the broader community because of discrimination based on their religion, ethnicity, or country of origin. Closing the borders, barring refugees, and treating Muslims as anything less than full-fledged citizens with the same opportunities as everyone else is exactly how ISIS wants the west to behave! Doing so only aids ISIS recruitment efforts and its twisted narrative of its so-called caliphate being the only real haven from Muslims in a world completely hostile to Muslims. If people weren’t asking how to deal with potential Fenians hiding among all the Irish refugees fleeing the potato famine in the 1840s; or how to deal with potential Nazis hiding among all the Jewish refugees in the late 1930s; or how to deal with potential Viet Cong hiding among all the Vietnamese refugees in the late 1970s/early 1980s; or how to deal with potential communist guerrillas hiding among the 80,000 Cuban refugees to Miami in 1980; or how to deal with potential “warlords” in the early 1990s hiding among all the refugees fleeing Somalia, then it seems a bit unreasonable to be overly-concerned with ISIS agents hiding among refugees fleeing Iraq/Syria. Especially when ISIS has been working so diligently to bring foreign fighters into Iraq/Syria to fight on their behalf.
Why I won’t use the French flag filter
I’m hesitant to change my profile picture into something supporting Paris.
I see so many people changing their profile picture filters to demonstrate solidarity with Paris and France. I can respect that. I can be inspired by that.
But I can’t do that.
I won’t feel inspiring.
I will feel guilt.
Guilt for being partial.
I’ve asked myself where was I when the Syrian civil war began, and all of the innocent lives lost? #StandWithSyria
Where was I when 147 were killed at a Kenyan university? #Pray4Kenya
Why is Paris the only tragedy that I will speak out for and change my profile picture for?
Not Syria.
Not Kenya.
Is it only when something starts “trending” that I will join the “movement”?
I would be changing my profile filter in support, but also because it feels powerful to be a part of a large movement of support. It feels like I’m doing something right and big and meaningful.
But isn’t it more powerful to be a voice among so few, not a voice among so many?
Wouldn’t it make more of a noise to speak in quieter conversation (Kenya) than a louder one (Paris)?
There is so much tragedy in the world.
So much hate.
So much loss.
I will pray for Paris. I will pray for Kenya. I will pray for Syria. I will pray for all of the loss. All of the hate. All of the tragedy.
But if I choose to speak out, I must speak out on the behalf of victims and tragedy everywhere, not just events that are trending.
Who am I and what will I become if I only show support for events that are going viral with hashtags? Or events that are in the news today?
I should be outraged by tragedy everywhere. By injustice everywhere. It’s not just the Paris attacks that should make my blood boil and heart break.
It should be Syria.
It should be Kenya.
It should be school shootings.
It should be needless bloodshed.
This is far more than injustice.
This is the world.
I would rather be a voice for the few.
#PrayForParis
#PrayForAllOfUs
P.S. I should say the the solution to my “guilt” is not saying/doing nothing about Paris. Rather, it should be saying/doing something about all of the other tragedies and injustices while saying/doing something about Paris.
I’m so mad because this worked
