| massive rest in respect to empress #afenishakur (born #alicefayewilliams; 1o jan 1947 - 2 may 2o16), mother of a revolutionary, music businesswoman, philanthropist, political activist & #blackpanther. she is the mother of the late rapper #tupacshakur (#2pac). she acted as her own criminal defense attorney after being accused of taking part in numerous bombings as a member of the #panthers. exactly one year following #pac’s death, w/ the money made from his posthumous albums, founded the georgia-based #tupacamarushakur foundation, which provides art programs for young people in addition to #amaruentertainment, the holding company for all #tupac’s unreleased material. she also launched a fashion clothing line, #makaveli branded where all proceeds go to his charity, the #tupacamarushakurfoundation. she was in federal court on 2o july 2oo7, to file an injunction to prevent #deathrowrecords from selling any unreleased material from tupac after the company failed to prove that the unreleased songs were not part of its bankruptcy settlement. she created a record label named #amarurecords to release pac’s unreleased recordings. empress #afeni won her court case against #deathrow records & received 15o+ unreleased songs by her son. in addition to philanthropy work, she’s made guest appearances, lectured & more. she traveled the us in 2oo7 & gave the keynote address for #vanderbilt’s commemoration for #bhm (#blackhistorymonth). afeni shakur is the #blackexcellence.
