Hi there :)

This is a new year and there is a new place for my blog. After years maintaining On People as a secondary blog in my tumblr account, now I’m moving it for a new address, onpeopleblog.tumblr.com. Primary all the way! I hope that way I can improve my communication with my fellow tumblrs and organize things better. It’s a fresh start, but I don’t mind. I’ll keep writing as always, and I hope you like it there as much as the old one.

No more texts will be posted here, only this message over and over like an abandoned radio station in a zombie apocalypse kind of way. I hope you don’t mind, enjoy my new space, and I wish we can keep on talking like there’s no world out there! Thank you and see you all around!

On flies

While I was inspecting clouds passing by I saw a fly in her do or die moment against the glass. In torment I thought less about the clouds and more about the silliness of that scene: the fly so small that she could not understand an invisible wall. How could she be so ignorant and not realize that, ten inches to the side, there is an opening for her to dive?

But she is so tiny, how could she know?

And there, ignoring the clouds, I asked myself: what if the same happens to us, how would we know?

On holding hands

They walking, holding hands, and the others asking why. That's it. The thing is they were walking dependent on one another. One day the path would eventually spilt. One of them would have to give. Sad, but that's life. But fate is a little more inconstant than the thin rail we call normal. They both walking, holding hands, found a bifurcation. It was the end? Not at all. Each one chose their side and the judging crowd, static, found out that when hands are holding tight, the arms become elastic.

On birthdays

Once a year you find a tiny island in this endless sea which is our life. It is the opportunity to look around, back and ahead, and see to where your boat, adrift, has taken you. Anywhere, it does not matter.

Why celebrate your arrival, or why feel sorry for the lack of sails, if the choices we make are just drops of sweat on this giant endless sea?

Let us do this: let us enjoy the ride, and I hope we can find ourselves again somewhere - far way from here.

My adventure started at rock bottom, but I pray I don't end it thinking that reaching the light of day is good enough. Up there, after all, any direction I point will serve me as forward.

“Dad, why can’t we see stars from here?”

“It’s because the city lights don’t let us.”

“But why then can’t we leave the lights off?”

“Wouldn’t you be afraid to walk in the dark?”

The kid stopped for a second. He looked at his feet, did everything but think about his dad’s question.

“If they were off, maybe people would be looking up all the time, and they would worry less about each other’s flaws.”

The dad was just smiling, but deep inside he was asking himself where the hell did the kid get those ideas.

"Do you know the story about the lost dreamer?" "What?" "It's that guy who used to say that tomorrow everything would work out. Then, the next day, he would find a wall and say the same thing. And the next, and the next, until he gave up and looked behind, and there was also a wall on the other direction, and he couldn't go back anymore. He resigned and lived there, in the middle of the labyrinth, till his death." "Oh, what an important lesson." "Isn't it? You can't just follow a path the way you want, or someday you will be lost forever." "No, it's not that." "No?" "What good will do following the path they give you at the beginning? You won't hit any walls, sure, but won't you even try to find a different exit? And what if the labyrinth has no end? And if you don't like the end, it won't be worse to know that you didn't even chose it?" "But the guy stayed there, like, forever. The guy in this story died." "He stopped and thought about where he was. He stopped. I bet he learned a much more important lesson." "Aaaaaah! It's impossible to talk to you!" "Hey, come back... Did I say something wrong?"
