Where have you been looking Shiny Bird Pokemon? I’ve heard reports of an oddly coloured Fearow flying around Fuchsia City.
Ah, you don't say! I'll have to make my way to Fuchsia City as soon as possible!
As for me, I've just been gathering information; witness reports, books; anything on the subject, really. I've also tried staking out numerous routes surrounding Violet, but the rarest thing I saw was a Hoppip; interesting, but not at all what I was looking for.
...Hmm.
It would seem it's been a while since I've found myself here. I've been up to my knees in researching the migration patterns of 'shiny' Birds; I've always wanted to see one myself, you see, but it would appear that I'll never have the chance.
[He sighs]No matter. I suppose if it's one day destined to happen, then it will. Perhaps, when Father comes back, he will have one to show me?
In the meantime...how have you all been? I see there's a few new faces.
Well, it looks like I have another lame date coming up with… some gym leader from Johto. Jeez. I wish my dad would quit setting me up on these dates. He never picks anyone exciting or fun.
Eh, I guess it could be okay. Or at least an excuse to get some free food. Better get ready, I guess.
...I'll have you know that I'm a plenty fine person to date, thank you.
I'm sorry your father couldn't find a rock star or anything, but I guarantee we could still have fun all the same. We can even do whatever you have in mind, if that makes up for it.
.
Turning his head back to the two trainers, who have begun to engage in a Pokemon battle, Morty simply smiled and nodded. “It sure does. I’ve had to referee a couple of those matches as a kid. Still do, actually.” It was not long ago that he had to settle a dispute between two of Ecruteak’s budding trainers. It was not an uncommon sight these days. As bothersome as it may be, Morty usually found it to be fun, watching other people’s battle strategies and guessing who would win. It was a sort of a game for him.
While the two trainers continued their battle, Morty turned back to Falkner holding the bag of food up. “I should have enough to share. Let’s go before this gets cold.”
He turned the corner of the gym, in-between the PokeMart, leading down a short pathway to the lake. Morty kept a steady pace, before settling on a shady spot under a tree. From there, he could see a couple of people fishing on the lake’s edge, mostly fishing up Magikarp, but there was the occasional stroke of luck that allowed one of them to fish out a Poliwag from the water. Sitting down under the tree, the space near him reserved for his friend, Morty began to open the box, revealing a beef bowl big enough for two.
As Morty recalled the small fraction of his childhood, Falkner smiled a bit. While he had never refereed them, per say, he certainly enjoyed being on the battling end of things. Once his mother had allowed him, Falkner had begun training that Pokemon his father had lent out to him as soon as possible, concerned even then with reaching the same glory, the same perfection, that his father upheld. And who wouldn't want to, really?
"Glad to hear it." Falkner responded to his friend's comment before he had begun to lead the way. And truly, he was; the Gym Leader hadn't eaten more than a bowl of shredded wheat and berries that morning and, as a result, was quite hungry.
Upon the duo reaching their destination, Falkner cast his eyes out onto the lake before sitting down under the cool, protective shade of the tree. The spot was an especially popular one in the summers, for obvious reasons, and a favorite amongst all residents of Violet City. Every now and again, a wild Pidgey or Spearow would try their hands at catching a delicious morsel for themselves, similar to the fisherman, albeit had a tendency to come away disappointing; Magikarp were, after all, inedible.
Taking note of Morty opening the food he had graciously offered to share, it took everything the bird master had to not show his signs of hunger; he hadn't exactly noticed until he was en-route. However, as Morty revealed his selection, Falkner's stomach almost turned. As a vegetarian, he didn't at all mind what others ate, he just hoped his friend wouldn't mind him picking at everything else there.
"Good day for you to finally stop by, huh?" teased the bird master with a smirk.

Ahh…you’re the Flying-type leader from Hoenn, are you not? Winona?
The pleasure is all mine. [He smiles, bowing slightly]
Yes, that is correct—wait, what? [FALKNER!!! Okay Winona, calm down. Inhale, exhale. She cleared her throat.]
Eheh, it’s an honor to finally meet you. I’ve heard many great things about your role as gym leader from my parents throughout the years.
[Falkner couldn't help but laugh at what seemed like Winona's initial confusion; what, was he that rare of a sight? Or did the girl simply not know who he was? Either way, it was oddly funny. But her next bit of speech caught him off guard.]
Ah...really?[Well, that was a surprise.]That's...quite the honor, I must say. I didn't think I had done much to catch the attention of others, let alone from other regions. But I'm glad to know I've done something right!
Patiently waiting for his friend to out of the gym, Morty outside of the entrance, food in hand. He quickly checked the inside of the take out box, making sure there was enough for him to share. Normally, the restaurant gave him too much food so he did not worry too much about it.
Morty glanced around the scenery in front of the gym. The city was usually bustling with new trainers on the first steps of their journey. Across the street, near the trainers school, he could see two boys arguing over whose Pokemon were stronger. He laughed to himself, witnessing the banter. It reminded him of his beginning days as a trainer. His friends would often have battles to see who was the stronger trainer. Morty was not usually a participant in these matches, often keeping to himself and rooting for someone on the sidelines with his Gastly beside him.
He watched the argument for a while longer, while determining in his head which trainer would probably make it to his gym first. He had high hopes for the kid with the Wooper, despite the boastful trainer with the Geodude insisting that his Pokemon would kick their Wooper’s butt. It wasn’t long before he heard the doors of the Violet City Gym slide open to allow the bird master to step outdoors.
Making his way down to the floor of the Gym, Falkner couldn't help but beam. It was nice to get invited somewhere every now and again, he couldn't help to think. It was no surprise that Falkner was a bit on the quiet side, and the bluenette didn't exactly mind that part of himself. After all, there were plenty of talkers in this world, but not quite as many listeners. However, it certainly made it difficult to make friends. That and his obsessive manner tended to make his overall being, well, a bit of an easy target.
But Morty was different, and for the love of Ho-Oh was he happy about that. He was quite sure Morty knew nothing about the migration habits of Swellow, and Falkner himself had always found the world of ghostly summonings and clairvoyance a tad unsettling. Still, the two got along, and who didn't want that? He felt terrible, of course, that he always seemed to find himself busy, but it made this time out all the more special.
Upon leaving the Violet City Gym, th young man instantly caught sight of Morty, and grinned. "Brings you back, huh?" he asked while approaching his friend, following the track that the Ghost-trainer's eyes had taken. The squabble between the two young trainers was a common sight in Violet, and especially by the one in charge of dealing with all of the beginning trainer's initial Gym challenges. While some might find the task of dealing with young, occasionally arrogant children annoying, Falkner couldn't help but see himself in them, just as he was sure all other experienced Pokemon trainers did.

FMK: Jasmine Whitney Clair
I...uh...Oh, dear. I've just learned what that is and, well, I hope it's not meant to be taken /too/ seriously, so here we go...F: Clair. Beautiful, really, but a bit, uhm...scary. Although, I do wonder what she might be like when, uhm, "F"'ing.M: ...JasmineK: Whtiney. A nice girl, but a tad annoying, really. Cries far too much.
Having spent what felt like hours of watching the clouds in the sky gently float by, Falkner returned his attention to the platform that lay just a bit ahead of him, expecting a trainer to waltz up and challenge him within any second. Unfortunately, it would seem Abe and Rod took care of most of the young trainers who built up the nerve to enter the Gym…maybe they were getting too good. Was it time to seek out new Gym Trainers? Mmm…no. Falkner might have seemed a bit distant at times, but he certainly wasn’t one for making kids cry. He sighed. Maybe taking off like his father had wasn’t such a bad idea…He looked out the window again, vision hazy and zoned out.
Thankfully, by some definition of fate, the rock smacked against the surface of the window at the same exact time Falkner turned his head, causing the bluenette to, in surprise, shriek and stumble. “Gah!”
Naturally, Abe and Rod turned their heads, throwing quizzical glances at their boss, which were quickly shooed off by the red-faced Leader. Jetting towards the window, Falkner opened it, ready to scream at the individual responsible for nearly breaking his window before catching sight of the bright crop of blonde hair below him, the purple and red scarf trailing behind the what he assumed to be vandal completely indicative of who he was dealing with.
“Hey,” Falkner cried down, “what was that for?!”
Morty couldn’t help but laugh at the reaction Falkner gave when he snapped him out of his dreamlike state. Even for Morty, there was a part of him that enjoyed teasing his friends to an extent.
“Hey Falkner!” The blonde waved at his friend, paying no worry to the fact that he might have actually broken a window had he not aimed well. “What are you doing, cooped up in your gym on a nice day like this?” Before he could even let him answer the question, he continued talking.
“Want to join me for lunch?” He smiled, holding up the plastic bag full of food that he had bought not too long ago. “You look like you could use some fresh air today.”
Despite his initial shock and the aftermath it's arrival left behind, the bird-lover's heart still thumping sporadically in his chest, Falkner couldn't help but smirk. His friend's ways were, well...childish, in a way, but it was good to have that in his life, or so he had been told.
"Guess I'm just waiting for something exciting to happen for once!" he called back, laughing lightly. It was no secret that things seemed well...slow around the Gym. It had certainly been awhile since he had faced off against Johto's 'prodigies', but things seemed not quite as challenging since those battles. But he supposed things like that were common when you were the first in the line of eight.
With all of this being said, any other activity sounded tempting. Lunch with a dear friend? Unable to pass up. "Would love to." he responded with a sharp nod, smiling all the way, "Be right down."
He removed his head from the window, grinning as he made his way down to the group floor from the elevator he and the twins used every morning to get to the upper floor of the Gym. And, when the sunshine hit him as he exited the Gym, he knew this time spent with friends was long over-due.

Is the event when you realised that you could never fly with your brothers with wings?
Hmm…bored. [He sighs, occasionally glancing out of one of the Gym windows from his ‘perch’, high above the Gym floor. Things certainly hadn’t been the same since that… ‘event’ and, ever since, he couldn’t help but to find life, well…unreasonably dull.]
[Morty had been in town that day, investigating a mishap that occurred in Sprout Tower early in the morning. It was nothing terrible, just a case of a ghost pokemon whose mischief went a little too far this time. After the ordeal was done with, Morty thought to get lunch to-go from a local restaurant. He particularly liked the food, but never had much of a chance to go, unless he was in town.
Approaching the Violet City gym, Morty thought about the last time he had seen his old friend. It certainly had been a while. Normally, Morty would stop by to see him every week or so, but since the gym had been busy with challengers lately, he never had the chance to even leave the city until today. Just as the thought to pay Falkner a visit crossed his mind, Morty’s eyes caught the sight of the other gym leader near the window.
He waved to him, but it seemed that Falkner was not looking outside. Picking up a rock on the ground, he threw it against the wall near the window, hoping to get his attention.]
