It's Been a Year

Hello, it's been a year since I started this blog, and it was meant to be a record of everything I do in Kansas.

For the first six months in Kansas City, I didn't do much, except went on work trips, made friends with my co-workers, and explored Kansas City a bit. Honestly, I wish I did more, but a lot of things close around the time I get off work, and on weekends I was just being lazy.

Anyways, I had a lot of eventful things happen, and the biggest one was when I was diagnosed with ALL Leukemia Cancer on December 31st, 2024. Entered the new year hospitalized and nervous.

So, I've been pretty much wasting my time getting better. I went through a lot before I got to a comfortable position that I am currently in. I re-opened this because I am about to be re-hospitalized to get a transplant, so I thought maybe I could write everything that happens for the 20 days I'm at the hospital.

So, I'll log back in on the first day of hospitalization.

Official Starting Day

It's been a day.

First, I really do love how Kansas has introduced itself to me. Literally, three days ago, there was a tornado warning, and today, on the start of my very first job... it rained 3 inches. Apparently, that's not normal for the locals.

Overall, my manager is the coolest, most warm, straightforward, and helpful person. Honestly, I really am grateful and lucky to get to work with him. He was born and raised in Kansas, so he was the one who told me 3 inches wasn't common.

Other than being taken to eat at a nice Chinese buffet for my welcome party with my manager, I had a hard time getting my work email to function. lol, so overall, it was a short day due to my email issues.

Oh, one complaint: I bought steel toe boots, but I wasn't told that they needed to be laced up. I'm hoping I can sneak in the bill for the shoes somehow. Fingers crossed.

Either way, if everything is slow again tomorrow, I'm just gonna ask my manager to show me around.

Welcome, I'm in Kansas.

I have to be honest. I've been in Kansas for more than a week now, and I only just remembered to update everyone.

So, here goes. My start date was pushed back a week because my background check didn't arrive in time. I wish they could take my word for it when I say I've never done anything bad to get the government involved with me. I'm pretty boring.

Either way, I'm about one day away from my official start date, and let me tell you, I'm nervous as hell because how am I supposed to pay my bills on time when I get paid super late?

So now, I'm running on about 85 dollars of already spent money. Wish me luck because I don't think I get paid until the 15th. :(

Either way, there are going to be a lot of adventures, though slow because I have two dogs that don't like staying home, and it's too hot for hiking. So, I'll update slowly. Maybe I'll do a Get Ready With Me (GRWM).
