I allow typesets of my finished works, so long as anyone sharing them is doing so free of charge and not using any kind of paywall. Please do not create typesets of my unfinished works, as I really value the chance to complete typo checks.

I am firmly against the use of AI as it’s unbelievably damaging to the creative community. Any AI so-called “art” or audio readings created for my work are being made without my approval or consent.

Wattpad (and other sites)

My fics are only available on Ao3. I have done everything I can to try to get unauthorized reposts of my work removed from Wattpad and other sites, and any existing reposts have been uploaded without my consent.

Podfics

So long as AI is not being used, the work is credited, and no profit is being made, I give blanket permission for podfic recordings.

It means anything including the words "sell," "shop," "add to cart," or -- you know -- anything with $$$$ in front of it is a no-go for me. And who would've guessed it, but you'll find every single one of those on the home page of TheBookRetreat. Which means I don't allow my work to be printed by TheBookRetreat, or "given away" by anyone promoting TheBookRetreat.

Just wanted to extend a big cross-platform thank you to all who've held out hope for Don't Look Back in the face of so many obstacles (and an update schedule from hell.) I can't tell you how much I appreciate you.

It's wild to me that there was a time back in 2020-2021 where I was updating almost weekly. I had a lot of fun interacting with so many of you, and the words were flowing freely thanks to all the serotonin.

But as a wise insurance ad-campaign once said, Life Comes At You Fast -- a lot happened, both in fandom and in my personal life, and I had to step back and reassess. These past few months in particular have been incredibly challenging. I've been working through grief after losing someone that meant the world to me, healing from surgeries and injuries, moving apartments, and -- on the opposite end of the spectrum -- making some very exciting strides in my career.

So a lot's been going on, and fandom got pushed to the wayside. But writing these stories has been very cathartic for me, and I still find so much value in the freedom of imagination fanfiction provides. I'm so so grateful for all the wonderful people I've gotten to meet in this community, for all your boundless encouragement and ESPECIALLY your patience. I am hopefully coming up on period where things are going to calm down in my life and I can dedicate some serious time to updates. Finishing this fic is important to me and I can't thank you enough for hanging in there.

Any tips on writing? Like you’re a pro

I’m by no means a pro, but I’d say my best advice is don’t put pressure on yourself to go about writing the way you might think you’re supposed to. I’ve never believed there’s any correct formula for everyone (whether that be outlining, having multiple drafts, writing out of chronological order, etc.) There’s just going to be a formula that works for you, and figuring that out is usually achieved through chaos. Embrace the chaos.
