i think it’s easy to look at laila’s position change immediately after earning 2024 world’s mvp as a forward and be like “what are you doing……” but to be fair she also got u18 world’s mvp (as a forward) in 2022 and then didn’t even get invited to the evaluation camp for 2023 senior worlds the next year (having aged out of u18) and that is what it is but like given the context i can understand why the longevity of her place on the team would be on her mind, even with such an accomplishment on her résumé out the gate

#suddenly switching gears i know but i listened to madison packer talk the draft on a podcast whose name is escaping me at the moment #and it made me think of this #because her take was basically that while it sometimes shows that laila is less experienced at d she’s good enough to go pro at either #position and if playing defense is what keeps her roster spot on team usa then it makes sense to stick there playing pro as well.#which is think is a very fair read on it!#also packer clearly not being a fan of murphy. lmao.
