But Not Really
Released this single a couple weeks ago and never said a word about it. Sometimes that can be the hardest part for the creative, especially when you grow up not believing in your ability to create art. Marketing is nothing but talking about your project. But if you don’t talk about it, does it even exist? So, in an effort to get comfortable with sharing creative endeavors, I’m turning to this…

Existence
Made this little video project for the recently released audio project. The Alan Watts audio was from his lecture on Space and Time that I came across a few months ago at this point, and it is a massively impactful concept to embrace. “You see when you find out that all this Universe depends on you, you’ve got to be very careful at that point not to go crazy…” I was the experiencer that went…

Coincidence or fate?
The following excerpt is from a book a received from my mother, who received it from my uncle, which I would not have received had I not followed the not-so gentle nudges of the Universe to leave a comfortable, though frustratingly familiar, situation…Was it coincidence?“The combination of inner searching (“There must be more to life”) and an occasional cosmic jostle (“Wow! What a strange…

when i was a teenager it felt very revolutionary to be cruel to myself. like some kind of slow passive protest against how much everything hurt. i starved myself of sleep and food and tenderness because it felt right. it felt sharp and angry and radical and i wanted to be those things. adulthood is the realisation that the world is already working to cut into you well before you learn how to do it yourself. caring for yourself and others is the real protest

“If you hate your parents, the man or the establishment, don’t show them up by getting wasted and wrapping your car around a tree. If you really want to rebel against your parents, out-learn them, outlive them, and know more than they do.” ― Henry Rollins
This is from a comic about being creative. Read the rest on my website: 8 things I’ve learned about creativity.
“The most anti-capitalist protest is to care for another and to care for yourself. To take on the historically feminized and therefore invisible practice of nursing, nurturing, caring. To take seriously each other’s vulnerability and fragility and precarity, and to support it, honor it, empower it. To protect each other, to enact and practice community. A radical kinship, an interdependent sociality, a politics of care. Because, once we are all ill and confined to the bed, sharing our stories of therapies and comforts, forming support groups, bearing witness to each other’s tales of trauma, prioritizing the care and love of our sick, pained, expensive, sensitive, fantastic bodies, and there is no one left to go to work, perhaps then, finally, capitalism will screech to its much-needed, long-overdue, and motherfucking glorious halt.”

I have a similar sign on my classroom wall. I remind my students that their brains aren’t literally muscles, but —like muscles—our brains “atrophy” without challenging activity. And with challenging activity, our brains “grow” and become “stronger.” #flexyourhead #MinorThreat #IanMacKaye #education #school #teaching #learning #students #teachers #highschool #secondary #lifelessons #brain #laziness #atrophy #challenge #ganas #grow #strong #forward #adelante #punkrockteacher
