heroicfangirl replied to your post:I don't know what's going on, who's defending someone with slurs? I just logged on and I see a lot of things?
(I don’t think he knew it was a slur and didn’t mean to offend people)
[[correct me if im wrong but iirc he stated that he KNEW it was a slur and expected people to treat that instance politely instead of calling him out

When it felt something step on it, then stumble and fall all over it, the beast was jerked out of it's sound slumber and found... something on it! Scrambling away and to it's feet, it turn to snarl at the intruder, though cursing itself for not being more careful and hiding. It looked like a giant rat, no, opossum? Whatever it was, it scared the beast nearly to death.
Florence shrieked as she fell to the floor. She got up on all fours, and the next sound to come out of her mouth wasn't stuttered apologies, as she was used to, but a soft, hissing noise. What in the world it was that she was doing, Florence didn't know, but something in the back of her brain told her that this creature would go away if she did this.
Of course, there was no way of knowing if it actually would.

Fortunately (or unfortunately) Samantha was one such fool. The first thing she had thought when the rats infested the streets and first was, ‘awesome! Just like in my comics!’ She had planned to go on a heroic mission to save everyone from the evil rats, but her mother, predicting her plans, had made sure she had stayed inside, watching her every move. This week her mother had finally allowed her to go out, and though the news had assured New York that the rat-infestation was over, Samantha knew from her years of comic reading that you never trust the news. They were always either hiding something, or just too plan stupid to notice anything. Even the news was right, there was still crime lurking! She was sure crime had not taken a vacation during her superhero hiatus, even with rats lurking around.
"But now no one is safe from the Pulverizer-ow!" Samantha whined as she accidentally slammed face first into the streetlamp.
The sudden sound and vibrations coming from the streetlamp and below her caused Florence to jolt awake, and despite her surprise she managed to keep holding on to the lamp. "Wh-wha?!?" she yelped, looking around.
A human...? This late at night?
Florence grabbed on to the lamp-post and managed to get herself back on top of the streetlamp, perching there and watching the girl nervously. Maybe being her usual, outgoing self would work in her favor, maybe not -- she wasn't about to risk it.

Beast was sprawled out in front of the entrance of it’s home, rolling and stretching as it got some ‘fresh’ subway air. It’s home could get really stuffy at times and it felt good to be able to lay around outside, even if it wasn’t in the sun or moon light. Although unwise, it found itself relaxing more and more, eyes fluttering shut and slipping to sleep, feeling oddly at peace and safe for once.
Florence hummed a quiet song to herself, something totally nonsensical and made-up as she went along. It served to keep her company while she stumbled through the darkness, and eventually...
...over something.

The figure twitched from the sudden noise and the shadow rose, it growled angrily and turned to her, it slowly walked over to her and sparks flew from the floor as a large mace was being dragged along the floor, it smirked from the brief light that showed it face...or his...
Ohhh no ohh no oh no
Florence's tail whipped about and her fur stood on end in fear, which was only amplified when she saw the sparks. Her jaw dropped at the sheer size of the being in front of her and she couldn't find it in her to make words come out until she was backing away with her paws in front of her face.
"I-I'm sorry mister," she squeaked. "I didn't know you were here I'll leave pleasedon'tkillme"
Her heart pounded against the inside of her ribcage, and the collar of her hoodie was feeling way too tight, but she couldn't make her arm move to loosen it. Tears started to form in her large brown eyes as she forgot everything she knew about dealing with fear, and fear regarding beings much larger than her.

A large dark figure was sleeping behind a dumpster, a loud snore echoed from behind it and quiet grumbling could be heard from behind, it took a lot of room behind the dumpster and by the sound of the snoring, it was big...
Florence's ears twitched in response to the sound and she reflexively squeaked.
Shh. Shh. Whatever that is, just... don't be too loud, she thought to herself as she cautiously backed out of the alley. Sadly for her, though, she lacked the proper senses to figure out exactly what was behind her, and in her intent to leave the sleeping... whatever or whomever was snoring back there... alone, she knocked over a trash can, causing it to clang and crash loudly on the pavement.
...Crud.

Oh, what was there to be afraid of? With the proper use of reflexes, most altercations Florence risked facing by walking around New York City at night could be properly avoided. Her hoodie provided a decent disguise now, and if a human were to see her the only concern they would likely have would be why a child-looking figure was out alone after dark. Or a very short person. That was considerably less plausible considering the childlike pitch of Florence's voice.
Still, it was getting late.... er than usual. And she was getting sleepy. So much for being nocturnal. The opossum mutant yawned and took a turn into an alleyway to hide out for the night, not realizing it was already occupied.

Manhattan was a city of strange sights. Everyone knew this by now, and as such, the streets were often barren at night, or at least close to it. All the reports of disappearances, abductions, not to mention the recent massive-freaking-rat infestation the other week had clearly contributed to this. Not many humans would dare come out after the sun had set anymore.
Though, some brave, foolish, or skeptic souls still did. Florence watched from her perch atop a streetlight as the occasional human passed under her, completely unaware; or a car or bus drove by. It was almost surreal, referring to them as humans and not herself. Over a year had been allotted so far for the girl to grow used to her current situation but she still couldn't bring herself to not accidentally use that term for her own identification on occasion.
When she was sure the coast was clear, she shoved both front paws into the big front pocket of her sweater, wrapped her tail tightly around the streetlight, and allowed herself to fall, hanging upside-down and swinging a little. She'd done this millions of times -- she only fell twice and that was months ago. And if she thought anyone was going to see her, she would just swing back up onto it. It was just that simple.
Not even ten minutes later, Florence had -- unintentionally -- dozed off, letting herself sway gently with the breeze.
If you could pick another muse for the mun, who would it be?
And give an explanation as to why.

The underground always scared Florence, from the time she was old enough to understand her brothers' 'scary stories' about giant sewer gators and various other monsters, to the current moment, when she had been given no other option.
Well, what was she supposed to have done? That stranger had been on her tail, and it wasn't like she blamed him -- though clothing wasn't optional at this point. It was only a sweater, plain grey with a New York Yankees logo on the front. How could he miss it? And when he'd had the thief cornered, shouldering open a manhole cover and scurrying in before he could find her seemed like the best option.
And now she was regretting it. Rolling up the sleeves and pulling an elastic so it wouldn't fall past her knees and risk even touching any part of the sewer, Florence soldiered on with a paw over her nose. She was scared, yes, but now wasn't the time to be scared. Ten minutes ago was the time to be scared. The young mutant curled her tail close to her body to mock a feeling of protection when she realized she wasn't exactly sure where she was.
But there was a sound, and she shook off the sweater's hood so she could hear more clearly. Don't be scared, she thought. Don't be scared. There's no monsters. It's probably just a human.
In her case, though, a human might have been far worse.
