recently been thinking a lot about nick and mundys relationship. those two have something.... weird going on. good but weird
mundy is a very affectionate guy towards his friends in a platonic way that is often hard to get across as purely platonic sometimes. hes aro in the way that alters his perception of things traditionally romantic and the nature of relationships and closeness, to the point it can seem he avoids dating just for the sake of fearing commitment. which is a little true? but he just prefers not being "tied down" and dealing with all the confusion of emotions.
but nick is one of his best friends, the two always have each others backs (both figuratively and occasionally literally, given nicks role as a support for support classes) and can go without each other for a long time, especially with sniper fuckin off to the bush and nick often being busy with assisting medic.
despite the distance, theyre still extremely close, and nick is extremely flirty, and this confuses mundy who knows that means romance for everyone else, yet the doc seems fine with it, and nick just calls him a friend, but they still kiss and cuddle and share clothes and whatnot. and hes not asking about it, are you bloody insane?? do you know how awkward that is? its far more rational to just simply not ask and live in confusion, obviously!
yet, its surprising and comforting having someone that actually gets how sniper expresses friendly platonic affection without trying to get more out of it. if they knew what it was id say queerplatonic partners fits them great, but the messiness of such confusing emotions neither of them want to clarify causes so much bullshit for the both of them lol. sometimes you dont need a name for how you love someone, but the societal expectations still try to make you come up with something

unfortunate truth of reality is that oftentimes 15 year olds will say/do/believe some stupid bullshit because they are 15 but telling them that they believe that because they are 15 is probably the most counterproductive thing in the entire universe
ive been really nervous to play tf2 online because ive had a long history of being bullied in online games as a kid (an experience im sure plenty of other neurodivergent people can relate to) but i was very pleasantly surprised by just how kind the community is. i was thoroughly expecting the same level of toxicity i used to get when i was younger but instead everyone was so deeply kind to me, and the few toxic people were just ignored (or kicked) my first match i was figuring out medic and the other teams medics came and hung out with me during setup (likely due to my steam name "medic's boyfriend" lol, i realized later) and when i switched to sniper that round the enemy teams sniper came up to me after my team lost and gave me a high five. which is one of the best possible first time experiences you can have in a game like this! there is a distinct feeling of support for every person trying their best in the match, even the opposing teams! its a complete shock to my system!
usually i try to keep character designs mostly accurate in my head but i cant help but change the mercs eyes and hair around a lil bit. i adore medic with dark blue-gray eyes so much. beautiful

the funniest part is that one of nicks whole bits is that he owns a really fancy pistol he doesnt use because he cannot aim worth piss, and here i was shooting scouts midair and sniping other snipers. what an ironic world i live in
