been in a heavy dilla mode since his birthday feb. 7

so inspired by jay dee. here are some of my favorite dilla mixtapes on the internet.

pete rock, an original grand master so you gotta respect his dilla knowledge. he focuses on Ummah-era / ATCQ, which I think is an often overlooked part of the dilla discography

  j rocc's four mixtapes, released in the years following jay dee's death. covering the entire catalogue. some special focus on the 2005 batch beat CD's. definitive documents all.

Dilla on Gilles Peterson's Worldwide on BBC in 2001, after the release of Welcome to Detroit. 

  megamix by BBC Radio 1's Benji B, aired shortly after dilla's death / Donuts. packed with bangers.

DJ house shoes, dilla's close friend, giving up all of dilla's samples in two volumes. tastefully done though.

some recently recovered unreleased tapes and stuff.

DJ Q makes Bassline music that makes people punch holes in concrete walls. Bassline is a regional variant of UK Garage / dubstep that seems to be mostly dried up at this point, but was mostly big in the midlands and northern UK. Birmingham and Sheffield had awesome bassline.

The Formal Generators Of Structure

Axonometric visual experiments by architects Stanley Tigerman & G. T. Crabtree - via Data Is Nature:

Architect Stanley Tigerman’s‘The Formal Generators of Structure’ (Architecture & Urbanism Journal, 1975) explored the combinatorial use of rectilinear shapes to generate volumetric, optical and architectonic compositions. Spatial configurations of the square and cruciform are extruded to create axonometric projections reminiscent of the ‘ideal’ geometricism of the De Stijl school. They are also reminiscent of the works of Op-artists such as Albers and Vasarely who toyed with the square to infinity through structural multiplicity and chromatic modulation.
