A little positive information about the MPC and Commonwealthsport connections. Despite all other things going on, the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of uncounted people can sometimes be affected by social media. Difficult to measure. But I give you a brief survey of Commonwealth Sport Instagram.
Back on January 21 of 2026 there was an Instagram announcement shared by commonwealthsport+MPC+Samheughan and reposted elsewhere. Anyway as of today, there are 9,757 likes for that post on the commonwealthsport page.
Another post is very interesting as an example of what the organization is doing. The text is The #Glasgow2026 Schools’ Baton Relay was launched this week giving 70,000 young people from 330 schools and nurseries across the city the chance to go 𝘼𝙇𝙇 𝙄𝙉 for this summer’s Commonwealth Games! And this post currently shows 175 likes
Generally, the Instagram page has various posts with between 90 and 1300 likes. I speak very generally here.
A shared worldnetball + commonwealthsport related to the upcoming Commonwealth Games had 1,269 likes The post on February 5 that was commonwealthsport + MPC + samheughan advertising the upcoming Instagram Live has 1,454 likes
The Feb 6th official commonwealthsport + MPC + samheughan Instagram interview 25.7K likes, after 13 hours
To my eyes, this is wonderful for the Commonwealth Sport group. I suspect there will be more awareness and more publicity for it in the next few months. For this post, for anyone that reads this, consider this a spike of positive energy that reaches other people. Including you. Just for this post I am not allowing the "wait, but its more complicated than that" and opinions about the other things this tumblr group usually chats about. No problems have been explained or solved, no lies exposed or mysteries revealed. Think of it like a Venn diagram, this litle bit of information is an Intersection of elements, created without changing the essence of each category. There are good things happening, and so often all I can see or hear is sky is falling, angry complaints, etc. My 98 year old mom listens to CNN at full volume all day long, and I live with her, so I hear it. And it is not positive. Greater awareness of a group trying to make constructive and helpful differences in individual lives through sports/movement is a WIN. It's just a win. Good for Sam. Good for MPC members, whether there are 3000 or 30,000 of them. Good for a whole bunch of people we will never hear of or see. Good.

Grígora S (2014) by Antonio Valente, Paulo Salgado, and José Boaventura-Cunha, Engineering Department, Universidade de Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro (UTAD), Vila Real, Portugal. Grígora S was runner-up in the final (B) of the 2016 Micromouse Portuguese Contest (MPC) with a time of 58.99 seconds.
"Some of the problems with commercially available robot kits or other kits for micromouse contest are that they are usually expensive and have very low performance essentially due to high dimensions and/or motor type. Therefore, a low-cost micromouse kit has been devised in the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro to help to raise high school students' interest to science and technology. The kit is based on Arduino Leonardo, has two wheels with differential drive." – Grígora S: A Low-Cost, High Performance Micromouse Kit.
