โFix your hair.โย The command had slipped out without thinking the moment he and his daughterโs attention shifted to the mark in the sky. She had tried to argue but there was something in his expression that left her realizing he was being serious. It took a moment, but the bright magenta faded to a shade similar to his own, hair growing in length to ringlets beneath her shoulders. The agreement of allowing her to express herself was off, replaced with a need to blend in and safely get out of things.
They had paused for a moment, Ted needing a few seconds to catch his breath and try to gain control over the whirlwind of emotions he was fighting back.ย โThat is the last thing we need,โ He narrowed his eyes at the woman, grip around his daughterโs hand tightening as he moved to block her from view.ย โCertainly an unexpected turn of events, isnโt it?โ
โ
Glancing over at the wizard who now stood across from her, Opheliaโs gaze dropped to the pair of small feet she could see behind him for a moment before sheย turned to look back down the Alley. She probably wouldnโt have taken notice of the child if he had not made such an effort to conceal her, but it no longer surprised her to be immediately considered a potential threat. Not that sheโd ever hurt a child - no, she had done many things over the years, but even she had a line that she wouldnโt cross.ย
โMy apologies, the last few people whoโve come through this way were in search of the cause of all this, so I just assumed.โ She replied with a small shrug.ย โYes, it is quite...From what Iโve heard, theyโve still not found anything though, so hopefully no one has been hurt.โ

Frank wasnโt in his right mind. He needed to find Alice. He needed to check in on his son. He was an Auror, an experienced Auror. He should have been calm, collected, directing the crowd and searching for the person who did this. And yet the skull made his stomach heave. The year Frank had spent in terror, the year when his infant son had been a target. He had shouted towards the crowd, half-heartedly following protocol: stay in place. remain calm. wait for instructions.ย
He couldnโt go on like this. He needed to breathe. Frank stopped in his tracks, closed his eyes and filled his lungs. He counted to five. That was when he noticed Ophelia.
Fear hadnโt quite stolen Frankโs authority. He looked Ophelia over with all of the scrutiny of an Auror. She was too calm for the situation.ย โIโm looking for my wife, actually. What are you doing? Itโs time to head home.โ
โ
It was just her luck that Ophelia would stumble upon not one, but both of the Longbottoms while the streets of Diagon Alley and the surrounding areas were in the grips of panic. Of course it wouldnโt have been long before every Auror was out in force, but despite how un-phased the witch was about seeing the dark mark in the sky, she knew just as much as anyone else present that evening.
โAh. She came by here not that long ago actually, so she canโt be that far away.โ Ophelia offered with a small shrug.ย โIโm just here like everyone else, trying to figure out whatโs going on... I have a business just around the corner, so I just want to make sure that it wonโt be impacted in any way.โย

Alice had had to fight the urge to just apparate straight to Augustaโs house. She make sure her little boy was okay. Amelia had practically told her too, but Alice was an auror. And she felt like she had a job to do. She also needed to find her husband. There was no way she was leaving here without Frank. It was hard though. Everyone was so panicked, and she was just trying to keep people calm, and keep them moving. The sooner people calmed down, and left, then maybe theyโd be able to work out what was going on.
She came to a stop, taking a deep breath. Sheโd forgotten the adrenaline rush sheโd got from things like this. Sure, she was terrified for her son, but this was what she had became an auror for. She looked up as she heard a voice. The auror just raised an eyebrow. โI wouldnโt stand around.โ She murmured, shaking her head.
โWe donโt know whatโs going on. You should go home. Where itโs safe.โ
โ
For a moment, Ophelia just glanced over at the seemingly flustered witch next to. Sheโd had enough dealings with the Ministry of Magic over the years to recognise an Auror when she saw one. Even if she wasnโt really familiar with this particular one beyond knowing her face and a name to put to it, they were always the first to start telling people what to do, so they were easy to pick out even in a panicked crowd.
โI happen to live close by... If you donโt know whatโs going on, whoโs to say that Iโm any safer there than I am right here out of the way of all the panic happening down the road?โ
๐พ๐ผ๐๐๐๐, ๐ผ๐๐๐พ๐๐ย โ:
It wasnโt difficult to seek out her own in the crowd.ย They were the ones who seemed calm and unbothered by the dark mark in the sky.ย Alecto stopped next to the familiar red head, folding her arms as she looked out into the crowd.ย It truly had been the perfect event to cause some chaos - the entire community had put their walls down to enjoy the levity and celebration.ย She continued to revel in the chaos, standing silently next to Ophelia as she debated whether she should get out there and add to the mayhem.ย It was as good a time as any to let off some steam, but the place was crawling with Aurors.
Alecto chuckled.ย โI donโt believe that for a second - since when have you ever stayed away from chaos?โ
โ
It didnโt take long for the faรงade to drop when Ophelia recognised the witch that had come to stop at her side. It was so easy for her now to act the part now when anything considered even the slightest bit distressing happened, but with Alecto, she knew that she didnโt have to bother feigning any sort of concern for the Dark Mark glowing high in the sky. Chuckling at the other witches words, Ophelia shook her head slightly.ย
โYou got me there, I love it too much to stay away.โ She nodded.ย โSaying that though, you can get quite the view by sitting back here and observing it all.โ

WHERE: Diagon Alley WHO: Ophelia & OPEN
Ophelia would have been lying if sheโd said that she hadnโt missed the way that the Morsmordre Charm lit up the night sky. Sure sheโd had nothing to do with this one, and it had crossed her mind to go in search of who was behind it, but instead she was content with watching the panic around her on Diagon Alley.ย
Minding her own as she looked ahead, she suddenly became aware of another stopping just next to her. Assuming they would move on, Ophelia remained silent for a moment before eventually feeling as though they were expecting her to say something.ย
โDonโt mind me...ย If itโs chaos youโre looking for, youโll need to keep heading in that direction.โ She said with a half hearted wave of her hand in the direction of the far end of the Alley.
WHERE: The Leaky Cauldon, May Day Weekend WHO: Ophelia & OPEN
The May Day Weekend was always a busy one for Knockturn Alley. With witches and wizards flocking from all over to join in the celebrations, Borgin & Burkes had a steady stream of customers browsing for all sorts of oddities right up until closing time. It was exactly as Ophelia liked it - the busier it was, the less time she had to focus on anything that wasnโt the work in front of her, and it meant that they day also passed quickly.ย Sheโd had full intentions of heading straight home once she left the ancient store, but upon turning onto Diagon Alley, she figured that stopping in past the Leaky Cauldon for a drink wouldnโt be so bad.
Stepping in to the old pub, Ophelia was able to find herself a spot at the bar relatively painlessly. It was busier than normal, that was certain, but most people seemed to be focused on the live music at the far side, so she was able to weave past to grab a seat. Keeping to herself while she waited for her drink to arrive, it was only once the glass was in her hand that she looked up and around at the other visitors, raising her glass as she caught the eye of someone across from her.

I. CHILDHOOD AND HOGWARTS YEARS: The youngest child by only a matter of minutes, Ophelia is the only daughter of the late Edmund and Cressida Borgin. Along with her twin brother Atticus, there was never any competition for their parents affections while growing up. Each sibling had their own merits, and unlike many other Pureblood families with multiple children, they were loved equally by both their mother and their father. Although the family was not part of the Sacred Twenty Eight, the Borginโs insured that their children grew up knowing exactly what it meant to be true Purebloods, and so it is no surprise that Ophelia shares many of the views of the other notable families.
Given that her family co-owned Borgin and Burkeโs, one of Knockturn Alleyโs most notorious stores, Ophelia was never a stranger to the Dark Arts and to objects that were both unusual and ancient. While the store is, and has always been, avoided by make, Opheliaโs heart had been captured by it from a young age. When she was not at school, many hours were spent under the watchful eyes of her Father, reading and studying various items that were sold there, knowing that one day the reins would be handed to either her or her brother.
Although both the Borgin twins were sorted in to Ravenclaw, Ophelia always felt that perhaps she would have been better suited in Slytherin house. She is cunning learned very quickly how to get exactly what she wanted, whether it was by doing it herself or by getting someone else to do it for her. There was no denying her love for knowledge though, and many hours of her schooling was spent cooped up in the Ravenclaw Tower scouring over every book she could get her hands on. She had never been the best at making friends, and so she threw her all in to her studies, allowing her to graduate with Outstanding grades.
II. DURING THE WIZARDING WAR: Growing up surrounded by people with particular options regarding blood purity, Ophelia had heard of the name Tom Riddle quite a lot while growing up. Her Father, though he kept out of their business as much as possible, was a supporter of the Death Eaters from when they were established in the 1950โฒs. The stories Edmund told her were fascinating, and made her believe that their family would not only get a front row seat to see a new world one day, but that they would also be under the protection of the Dark Lord, meaning no harm would come to them.
The idea of protection, however, would turn our to not be enough as both Cressida and Edmund Borgin were found dead in Knockturn Alley, leaving Atticus and Ophelia orphaned at just eighteen years old. With no clear reason why the couple had been murdered, grief gripped Ophelia so tightly that it turned to anger and she wanted nothing more than revenge on whoever had taken her parents from her.
It was around this same time that Tom Riddle, now being referred to as Lord Voldemort, had caught wind of Opheliaโs potential. It wasnโt long before he was able to recruit her in to the ranks of the Death Eaters, convincing her that he could offer her a way to channel her rage that would help not only her, but a cause much bigger than she was alone. And so in the years that followed, Ophelia followed the Dark Lords orders without question, working her way through the Death Eater ranks until she earned her seat at the inner table. It was a seat that she was never truly interested in having though. Her position was just a means to an end in her eyes, allowing her to search for her parents killer behind the mask of a โbigger causeโ. Sure, she believed in the Dark Lords ideals, and was prepared to back the cause in any way she could, but she just didnโt have the same drive to prove herself to the man himself like so many others around her did.
Although it took her a few years, Ophelia was eventually able to pick up where her father left off with their families half of Borgin and Burkeโs. At first it didnโt feel right, not having him at her side watching over her, but after some time she found comfort in the old shop once more and was able to take full control of the Borgin side of things. Working in the old shop went hand in hand with being a Death Eater, and so she was able to do both very easily while maintaining the public appearance of just being a seller of old antiques.
There had always been rumours whispered about Borgin and Burkeโs though. The shop had a reputation for itโs less-than-honest dealings that had never been proven to be true. But when Voldemort fell, bringing and end to the war, Ophelia could feel the target being painted on her back. For a while it felt like the walls were closing in on her, the dark mark on her forearm was fading, but she still placed a concealment charm over it and wore long sleeves just in case. She was sure that the Ministry already had a file with her name on it due to her work, of course they did, but she knew she had to be extra careful not to give them anything that would tie her to the Death Eaters.
III. WHERE ARE THEY NOW: For the first year or so after the end of the war, the easiest way for Ophelia to stay out of the firing line was to simply not be present when the Aurorโs came knocking at the door. It was easy enough, since half of the shop was owned by the Burkeโs, so there would always be someone around when she conveniently left on a business trip. When they were able to pin her down though, she plead ignorance, claiming no knowledge of the Death Eater activities and offered to assist in any way possible. That assistance may or may not have involved selling other Death Eaters down the river, but if it means the Ministry would stop looking at her and she could get on with her life, she was prepared to do it.
What Ophelia hadnโt expected when the Dark Lord fell, was the sense of relief that came with knowing that he was gone for good. Yes, she had been devastated when she first found out about his demise, but in the latter years of his reign she had begun to doubt his actions as more and more violence occurred in the name of the cause.
She knows there are still a lot of his followers out there that believe the Dark Lord can be resurrected, but Ophelia has decided to throw herself into her work in the hope of turning some kind of corner in her life. There is a lot of darkness hanging over her head of course, and she knows that even now, she still has to be very careful as one wrong move could see her locked up in Azkaban for her crimes.
