“It’s a giant game of roulette if you decide that one is not enough. Otherwise, there is definitely no games, no fun and no shame what so ever.” He smirked at the blonde, gently raising his shoulders. “Dare you to change my mind.” He offered her a wink and tapped the ree seat next to him.
Ophelia rolled her eyes and got up and made her way to the seat next to him. “Alright, I’ll take that dare. There’s a lot of things I can resit but a cute boy with a nice smile and a dare, that’s not one.” She chuckled and took another sip of her drink. “I’m Ophelia, by the way.”

“And you’re telling me you’ve put your eggs in one basket?” Liam shook his head. “ Tsk, that’s a damn shame, cause you’re missing out on just about… Anything.”
Ophelia rolled her eyes. She sighed and chuckled softly. “What’s the shame in that?” She asked him. “The way I see it, it’s just a giant game of roulette.” She replied.
An argument between two heavily intoxicated men had been getting steadily louder until it reached a volume that made it impossible for Lukas to turn a blind eye. Scoping the area he saw no sign of a bouncer, leaving Lukas assuming they’d gone to the lower levels of Purgatory to deal with watching over the more illicit activities. In the short span of time when his attention was divided the argument transformed into a full-blown fight between the two, leaving the original gritting his teeth. Within a minute it was over, Lukas moving to separate the two and throw them both out the nearest door with a look that dared them to try and come back. “What do you think? A week-long ban or a month-long ban for the two of them?” He spoke up, turning to the nearest person. “Or more? I’m always happy to go with a more extreme option.”
Ophelia shrugged and took another sip of her drink, watching the whole thing unfold in front of her. It was hilarious watching Lukas throwing them out of the bar and she shook her head at him. “You and I both know those guys are never setting foot in this place again.” She chuckled. “They’ll be worried you’d kill them for doing anything like that again.”
George had been day drinking and enjoying the cool breeze off the ocean and he was feeling a bit more relaxed than usual. Classes wouldn’t start again for another month, his thesis didn’t look like a complete train wreck, and the mimosas just kept on coming. “Okay, okay. I love Endgame, but have you considered the fact that it basically means Captain America,” he coughed, smirking, “America’s Ass himself, has made out with his niece?”
Ophelia was confused. What was he talking about, she wasn’t sure. She chuckled and shook her head. “I’m sorry?” She replied. “What’s Endgame?” Ophelia asked him. Clearly he wasn’t sober, or at least that’s what she thought. “Is it a movie?”
“I can pretend to be your boyfriend and make that creep go away.”
Ophelia rolled her eyes and chuckled at the man. “Oh, sweetheart. I’m fine, I don’t need you to protect me.” She said with a wink. “Although, if you wanted. You could buy me a drink.”
For once, Ciaràn did take the blonde’s advice and refrained from any sudden outburst or snide comments that would reveal the clear discomfort such a topic had caused for him. Though that didn’t necessarily mean he wouldn’t attempt some other method to convey his warning to her about getting into that territory. “Keep getting this involved in my life Ophelia and if I didn’t know any better I’d say you still care.” The vampire pushed away from the picnic table, creating a distance between the two as he walked around the bench to the other side where she was. Now as he took a seat directly adjacent to the blonde with his form facing her and one leg straddling over the side of the bench. The vampire made sure to think of personal space to be more of a suggestion at that moment, one that he didn’t intend to take into consideration. “So what is it?” He begged the rhetorical question as his reach extended to tuck a strand of blonde locks behind her ear and away from her face. “Do you think I know better? Because right now princess you seem…” Ciaràn paused as if attempting to find the right word, but if anything it was more for dramatic effect as he followed up with, “a little obsessed with my life. Now that, that sounds about right, doesn’t it?”
She frowned as Ciaran made his way to her side of the table. She was confused, frustrated and mad at him. How could he be this irresistible when he was trying to threaten her? She rolled her eyes and sighed. She glanced down at his hand and noticed that his ring again. It was almost too perfect, in her opinion. She placed her hand on top of his and smiled at him. “You’re right, Ciaran. I can’t help myself... You know how I’ve felt about you. It’s never gone away, the feelings, the lust.” She replied in a seductive tone. “You being back in town, it’s perfect. We can start fresh, we can go back to the way things... used to be.” Ophelia leaned in closer so her face was almost touching his. She looked at him and widened her eyes and puckered her lips, inching herself closer to him. “C’mon. Just one more kiss, you know you’ve missed it.” She replied softly. Ophelia could feel her hand on the ring and it was almost too perfect. Ophelia would have to fully commit to kissing him again, if she wanted him to be fully distracted. She leaned in closer until her lips were pressed against his.

“Let’s have us some fun tonight.” Or at least the tamer kind of fun he had to practice more in this town. “You ever played two truths and a lie? I’ll buy us some rounds if you’re into it. What do you say?”
Ophelia rolled her eyes at Tobias. “Of course. Come on. Go get those drinks.” She tapped the bar table eagerly. “I’m thirsty and you don’t wanna keep me waiting.” She called out. “Besides, I’ve got the perfect first one.” She replied.
“You must have lived one of the most interesting lives then. 600 years, that’s a long time. Have you been all over the world? Met hundreds of interesting people?” she questioned, now more than a bit interested. Not that she hadn’t been interested before but Ophelia’s age certainly piqued her interest. Though she never wanted to be anything but human, there was the envy over the amount of things vampires could see and the people they could meet over their long years of life. “Oh, well, living alone must be nice too! You never have to worry about someone moving your things.” she chuckled. “Ciarán? He’s…he’s something.” she smiled. “He’s been my best friend for five years. We’ve been through a lot together.” Amber couldn’t really describe him as kind or caring but there were other terms. “He worries about me and my safety, it’s really the whole reason he’s here now anyway. And he makes me smile and knows how to get me to laugh. He’s intuitive.” She may have been mad at the man but he was her best friend. His words didn’t change how much she cared about him.
Ophelia nodded and forced another smile. Were all humans like this? She thought to herself. She turned so Amber wouldn’t see her roll her eyes before turning back to answer her. “Yeah, I mean, not hundreds of interesting people... Most of them died before I got the chance to know them.” She said with a slightly malicious laugh. Ophelia nodded again. “Living alone does have it’s perks, for sure.” She replied, glancing down at her nails again... Growing slightly bored with this game she was playing with Amber. Except, the moment she mentioned Ciaran, she made a tiny effort to nod while the girl was talking. “Oh, he’s your best friend?” She asked. Ophelia felt a ping of jealously but when she said they’d only been friends for five years, it slowly drifted away. “Interesting. I hope he’s nice to you.” She chuckled. “I’ve met guys like him... they’ll give you everything you desire but the moment you want something from them, they’re gone.” She shrugged and smiled sympathetically at Amber. “Just be careful.” She replied.
“You should do it then, if you’ve been thinking about it.” Amber replied with a smile, completely oblivious to the animosity. “I feel like you should do what you want in life, if you’ve got the time and ability to do so. I’m sure the medical school here in town is just perfect. And the hospital seems to be first-rate so you couldn’t go wrong.” she decided. With a shake of her head, the woman couldn’t hold back her laugh. “My housemate is surprisingly clean. Cleaner than I am a lot of the time actually. Though we are often arguing about dishes.” she admitted. “What about you? Do you live alone or do you have a housemate?”
Ophelia chuckled. “Well, I’ve been alive for over six hundred years, so I think my life is pretty much planned out on that front.” She glanced down at her nails and made a mental note that she had to go get them redone. She nodded while Amber continued to talk, more specifically about medical school. She perked up when the other girl started to talk about her roommates. “Interesting.” Ophelia replied. “Oh, I live alone. I haven’t lived with anyone since my ex and I broke up.” She waved it off. “I prefer being alone, anyways.” Ophelia smiled at Amber again. “So, your roommates, what are they like?” She asked casually.

The moment Ophelia went from talking about the ring to the human he came with to Hollow Grove a perplexed expression crossed his features. Ciaraàn would have rather spent the next twenty minutes convincing Ophelia the daylight ring he was wearing meant nothing as opposed to bringing up Amber as a topic of discussion, but here she was prying into things she should with what he thought to be far too much knowledge on the subject. “I never told you her name,” the vampire prefaced, purposefully choosing to ignore the next question Ophelia had prompted. “Are you checking up on me now? You seem to know a hell of a lot of things I never told you about, sweetheart.” While he had no issue stating the obvious, they were very much not together he still didn’t see the reason for Ophelia sudden interest in Amber unless… “If you’re that hungry you can always go get a few blood type O bags or find a human outside the town to feed on.”
Ophelia smirked with a slight shrug. “I know you never told me her name but I’ve done my research and well, we’ve met before.” She shifted slightly and glanced up at him, hoping she had made him uncomfortable. It wasn’t that she wanted to hurt Amber but she wanted to let Ciaran know that she wasn’t going anywhere. She rolled her eyes at his comments. “You know I checked up on, you idiot. You show up here... without any warning... without any contact. I swear to god, it’s like you don’t know me at all.” She flipped her hair and laughed. “Yeah, that sounds fun... But messing with your new friends sounds like a lot more my style.” She winked at him. “Don’t be mad or start yelling either, I’m not in the mood for it.”
Amber frowned slightly. What did it mean to look like she had a boyfriend? How did anyone look like they had a significant other? And why would the blonde woman think that she had that look? She shook the thought from her mind and instead smile. “Oh, like a medical doctor or a PhD? I have a doctorate I just never go by Dr. if i’m being honest, I only let my students use it. I just think it’s way too formal.” she explained, her smile growing. “But it’s very nice to meet you Ophelia and I appreciate your help.” she added. Walking along, she shoved her hands into her pockets. “Mmhm, I like them more than incense or essential oil diffusers. I jut think they’re nicer.” The other didn’t need to know all of it but she was sharing anyway. “I always have candles around, or try to. And I think vanilla lavender sounds lovely.”
Ophelia chuckled. Of course Amber had a PhD... Ciaran wouldn’t hang around a stupid girl. She should have known. “No, it’s just a PhD... I’ve been thinking about medical, to be honest.” She shrugged and forced a smile as Amber continued to talk. If she was being honest, she didn’t care about Amber’s preference between oils and incense but she was going to try and not roll her eyes too hard. “Yeah, for sure.” She replied cooly when Amber finished talking. “Yeah, I mean, that smell will defiantly help out your house... especially if there are guys living there.” She said with another forced smile.
