Maria walked up to the donation desk with a small suitcase in hand, she smiled at the desk worker and set it up, pulling out several Louis Vuitton shoes, a few Radley coats four Burberry bags, “Good afternoon, I was hoping to donate these to the Charity Fashion Show?” she asked with a smile, “The case too,” it was Mulberry.

Looking back she smiled at the person behind her, “Please has a look in advance if you like, itis all for a good cause after all.”

Chou had been up since five am and already had several bags full, quietly moving about the town. He was currently hanging one-armed from a gutter and using the other to scrape it clean, dumping the gathering into a bag below.

“Good morning.” he said idly, his butterfly resting on his shoulder, “People never seem to clean their gutters these days.”

There were still a few hours before the softball game started, her t-shirt proudly displaying her support for the fire department thanks to a lot of hours dedicated to arts and crafts. In her palm was a handful of cracked corn that she got from one of the nearby dispensers, each one filled with different snacks to feed the ducks. She leaned over the small, wooden bridge, watching them swim and flap around in the pond below. Luna tossed some of the corn to the small group, all of them swimming toward it once they spotted the food. “I wonder what would be good names for them,” she mused, genuinely giving some thought to the matter. Luna held her hand out to offer the newcomer some of the corn so they could feed the ducks as well. “That one that can’t swim straight looks like a Quack Sparrow to me.”

The only reason Noah was even showing his face at the Spring Fling was because Maggie and Joslyn practically demanded it. Have some fun, they said. It’ll be good for you, they said. Sure, it was all about improving Hollow Grove and inciting spirit and pride in the town and welcoming spring after a long winter - which was all well and good. He supported that. Did that mean he had to be there pretending he was spirited, too? 

According to Maggie - yes, it did. So he stood at the softball diamonds as the teams set up, sipping lazily at a coffee in hand. At the sound of footsteps approaching he spoke; “Who is your vote for this year?”

“Who the fuck decided a town clean up was a good idea? Like, who wakes up and thinks, fuck it we should litter pick for fun? Nah, I’m not about that life.”

“Sorry-- you might want to give me a full ten minutes with my pancakes. I’ve been living off powdered donuts and buttered noodles for the past few weeks. And I almost forgot what these tasted like.”

“I’m not saying they should’ve done double pancake breakfast mornings but imagine how great it’d be to get free pancakes two mornings in a row. I’m already planning on stacking my plate as high as I can go. I’ll be first in line bright and early tomorrow, no one is getting between me and my pancakes.”

He was sweaty, dirty, and halfway through the sweep of Central Bark when he went to swat at another bug, heard a distinctive buzzing sound, and saw a flash of yellow and black. “Ok, yeah. That is definitely a bee.” He wiggled and twisted away from the angry insect, hoping to avoid getting stung and nearly sent himself sprawling when his knees knocked against a bench. “Did, um, did anyone think to bring bug spray?”
